LLv34_Flanker Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 S! With all kind of sales going on and coming up been wondering if I should take the plunge from AMD AM4 socket to the AM5 and DDR5. Using now a Ryzen 5800X3D and 64 gigs of DDR4 with the Radeon 6950XT 16Gb. Been considering the Ryzen 7800X3D and 32 or 64Gb DDR5 at 6000MHz..
jollyjack Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 (edited) I tend to stick to Intel: had a 3 years old AMD fitted Acer laptop only used for emails etc. nicely blowing up in my face; 'sorry sir, no warranties anymore'. Run a 64GB DDR5 MSI Edge z790 i9-12900K, 3018ti RTX now for gaming for over a year ... no regrets sofar, other that there is no hardcopy manual with this board. And amazon took the malfuntioning Corsair Vengeance DDR5 back and i bought Kingston memory after that. Seems the old BIOS was the cause in 2022. Edited November 23, 2023 by jollyjack
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 S! After reviewing info and performance between the two processors versus gains in performance in 1440p gaming, the difference is less than 10%. So no use to upgrade until alleged 8000 series Ryzens emerge. 5800X3D seems to be in a true sweetspot when looking at bang for the buck in gaming? 1

I am get maybe 10% better performance with the 5800X3D, but for the AM4 platform this is tops I suppose. I am quite happy with my Rigs performance in any CBF sim I fly. S!Blade<><? 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 25, 2023 Author Posted November 25, 2023 (edited) S! @BladeMeister More than happy with my 5800X3D / 6950XT / 64Gb 3600MHz combo also ? Edited November 25, 2023 by LLv34_Flanker
