The gearwell in the tail is no indicator whether the tailwheel is fixed or not. Some G-6 also feature this when they got an earlier production tail. The 1943 G-3 manuals states that the Tailwheel is fixed. 4 hours ago, Roland_HUNter said: he photo was taken on March 19, 1943 in Malmilla. The machine was delivered on March 9, 1943 and was written off due to a crash landing on October 18, 1946 look like the larger tailwheel which was fixed. most finish G-2 had their tailwheel fixed. I know that is not reflected inthe game but the tailwheel was really prone to failure due to the harsh airfiels condition so keeping it fixes was the way to go. you can often see soviet airplanes with a failed tailwheel retraction. 1
the_emperor Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 @Roland_HUNter here is a good example with a fixed tailwheel and even landing gear covers removed from a Friedrich: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-BkNF57q70 And here of a Yak with a failed tailwheel remarkable as it is a training video https://youtu.be/oZDmE9AGZKw?t=1265 So the risk and danger of a failed tailwheel retraction and re deployment may not outweigh the few kph gain at SL. Especially at those frontline airfields encountered on the soviet front. Of course this is more a reflection of real live as we keyboard warriors of course want every extra kph we can get and those things dont effect us in anyway and cant be truthfully represented in this game. 1

Good points/finds. I agree.
the_emperor Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Here are other examples: La-5fns with what seems attentional fixed tailwheels and here for some Yaks: 1
Roland_HUNter Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 A person sent me this: Here is a pair of Bosch DW250ET(7/1)A spark plugs. In the background is a DB601E and DB605A engines exhaust valves. The difference between these valves that have the same part number, is the chrome plated exhaust valve face on the DB605A engine exhaust valves. The Diamler-Benz engine "evolution". 1 1

(this very thread is reaching its one year anniversary) This is an easy fix. the timer value just has to be increased from 1 to 3min (as the Start&Notleistung was either blocked or cleared for 3min, never seen a 1min limit for the cleared engine), there is no need to put in an extra modification for the planes. the_emperor Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 (edited) late DB605 could even run 10min at 1.42 (Just for completion.) Many thanks @MDzmitry and @messermeister Edited August 1 by the_emperor 1
MDzmitry Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Late 1944 batch could. 1942 batch couldn't survive 1,42 Ata in general. And there's already a modification with 1943 DB-605 (3 min of 1,42 Ata) for every Gustav from 2 to 6, which makes this topic a bit obsolete. 1 1
