KarsPilot79 Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Hi, I'm new to IL2 and am using the reverb G2. It's only registering turning head left/right but not registering moving head up/down or forward and backward. Is this common and normal behaviour? I'm used to MSFS in which you can move your whole head around and move your body forward/backward/left/right etc. Thank you!
unlikely_spider Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 No, try clearing the environment in the WMR settings and restarting the software again. 1 1
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 (edited) It is not normal. In single player you can set "head without restrictions" and move your head though walls. In multiplayer this is mostly disabled. There you have small invisible box where you can move your head, and not more. It is pretty restrictive, and different in each plane. If you can not move your vr head at all, then something is wrong with your system. I guess you may need new vr calibration in windows mixed reality portal. Edited October 4, 2023 by TCW_Brzi_Joe 1

It looks like this is happening, but as far as I know, I'm just in single player, but the head restrictions seem to be multiplayer. Am I missing something..? (I only tried the Spitfire) How do I set "head without restrictions"? Just to clarify: it's like my body is tied to the seat. I can move my head up/down/left/right, but I can't look closer to the instruments or peek over the dashboard by raising my body, etc.
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 It sounds just as it works good. You can move your head in all directions, but not too much. Just like if you have huge helmet That is normal. That head restriction is under Camera / Limit VR view. Set without this, and try single player.
Voxman Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Once you get full view going, follow this guide as it's well written for the ReverbG2. It's made the game much more playable. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/85069-neph’s-guide-to-vr-hp-reverb-g2/ 1

I have the same problem when using steam VR so I use the open xr toolkit and opencomposite which gives better performance anyway. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/opencomposite.html 1
KarsPilot79 Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 But you should be able to translate your head sideways or toward the instrument panel right? Or raise your head a bit to peek over the dashboard. That's not possible in my situation. Yes, I'm using SteamVR. I will try to use open toolkit and see if that solves the issue. Thank you for your advice.

firdimigdi Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) If you are not having this problem in the hangar (pre-flight) and menus then it is not related to out-of-game settings. If it works well in the menus and not in the cockpit then there's a cockpit camera mode in IL-2 that enforces exactly this situation when used in VR. This is selected under settings/camera/default view - I don't recall which one of the modes causes translation to be disabled but you can basically just press the "Default" button in that menu and it should reset to a usable state. KarsPilot79 Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 In the hangar I'm also not able to look closer or further. Only left/right/up/down...
KarsPilot79 Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 SOLUTION OF COMRADE_WENG FIXED MY ISSUE. Thank you so much. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/opencomposite.html
Comrade_Weng Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Glad to hear it. Hopefully you get a performance boost too. Make sure to check out the open xr toolkit to tweak a bit more. There's a couple of guides out there.
