The status of the yet-to-be-announced title

To not produce something that draws in the Chinese crowd would be the height of folly.  That's a huge untapped and growing market heavily into gaming.  And to completely walk away from WWII is tantamount to suicide, too much left unfinished.  What would make one extend their faith they'd ever finish Korea either?

Wait a minute! This forum does actually have a dark theme??? Where / how can I set it? That might be the most useful info I can get out of this thread.

It is a screenshot from my phone, but if you use a browser like firefox you can force a dark theme on every website. IIRC the default theme for this forum is something to the effect of "nuclear holocaust induced blindness".

Tencent bought 1c last year, so....

Ah, got it, thanks. Pity. I use Opera as primary and FF as a backup, but I might reverse the order for this board.

Just because they do Korea doesn't mean they are walking away from WWII... they can return to a WWII theme whenever they want.

The rush to get to late war planes really do look like there is no way back.
and cfs simmers today want progress and in their eyes bigger guns and more speed is the only progress. Suggest early war and BSR and his followers scream economical disaster

Rowan's "MiG Alley" didn't have carriers or naval planes but it was a pretty cool sim wasn't it? With dynamic campaign and all. I still remember and miss that B&W guncam replay feature.

But then, it was out just before CFS2 and first Il-2 so I seem to recall it didn't do well financially.

Porco Rosso... I might have known.

By the way, for anyone who hasn't seen the film, I'd urge you to watch it... it's a real gem!

Most like early war, many like me prefer it…so long as it’s not “Battle of Neverheardofit”

:)

Or “Battle of Nobodycares”

C'mon, it ain't funny ;) . Since you pass on various suggestions, you could poke relevant guys about considering an idea of implementing universal "in-house" dark theme IF the platform allows it.

Correction - 1C Entertainment SA was a Polish company bought by Tencent and was subsequently renamed Fulqrum Games. 1C Game Studios is a separate and independent entity.

I can ask and see, but I'm not sure at this point how much effort is going to go into upgrading the features of the forum.

Fair enough, I don't know how complex fiddling with the forum software over here might be. IF they can make it happen though, that would be great.

Change seems possible as it's currently set as <meta name="theme-color" content="#ffffff">

Hey - if you guys insist on keeping us in the dark about the next title, the least you can do is actually keep us in the dark by switching the forum theme

Would Korea be "prop based" though? Sure their are prop planes but think Korean war and you think of Migs 15's and sabers. Plus the North Korean air force had barely any aircraft variety? Il-10, yak-9, Mig 15 aaaaand?

La-11 sounds like a great airplane to get your butt kicked in by a Sabre or Shooting Star, while trying in vain to reach the B-29s.

? Probably true - but if you’re going down, why not go down in style in the latest and greatest Lavochkin fighter.
I got that from a Lavochkin TV add from the 1950’s.

Perhaps some night fighter action?

As I recall the first kill of the war was a Yak 9 shot down by a P-82 Twin Mustang.

I can't deny the American roster would be a lot of fun. Twin mustang, shooting star, sabre, skyraider. But the North Korean plane set would be largely outclassed and limited in options.

Ok, whatever, Mr. “I  couldn’t fly a Sabre even if advanced alien beings came in and programmed my mind to do it.”  You need to just stick to that old Se-5a, son.  I fondly remember training on that one.

Don’t forget that they make army knives, and cheese, popularized yodeling, and their army still has Pikemen.

Pfft. Even the lizard people couldn't persuade me to fly one of them whiny things. Or chop chops. No interest. I'm refined see.

I prefer style.

You want style? Harriet Quimby in her purple hoody-style flying suit and lace-up boots:

Looks like the planes I built using tinker toys as a kid. The real wooden tinker toys. Pointy sticks and all. None of that modern plastic junk.

And the topic is...

Hey everyone, I know there has been some anxiety and concern about where the IL2 series is going since there has been no official announcement about the next title in the time since Battle of Normandy was announced. So, to help clear this up, this message is from @Han, IL's producer and a long-time developer of not only IL2 but also its predecessor Rise of Flight, who asked me to share it with you all:

  Quote

Hello. The reason for the silence is simple - we do not want to give any promises or make any announces on something that we have no 100% ensure it is doable and will be released. We have had such mistakes before with "Marshall" and "Fuel systems" and we don't want to repeat those mistakes. The next project has been in development for a year already and development is going according to plan. Many fabulous technologies are done already and now content development is in progress. And this new content has brand-new quality standards. But the time period of the war which will be simulated, main game mode features, a long list of new features in airplane systems and damage simulation, and new ammunition - these aspects of the new project in development but details are not established for 100%. And you will ask us about them in the next hour after the announcement.

So we will announce when everything will be established in the new project design and we will be sure everything we announce is doable. What I can assure you right now - a year ago we planned to double the power of the team that works on the new IL-2 in a year. And now, after a year, this objective is completed and the reinforced team is fully ahead to our main objective - the new IL-2 release. Everything we have planned for the first year is done. And this year - is a significant part of the development timeline which it's not too long in total. So we are strongly sure that the new sim will be completed in time.

"Time period of the war" stands out to me there. No mention of "other wars".

Yes it’s a well known fact that only WWII has time periods. Time periods were invented for WWII then done away with in late 1945.

Even though Korea could be interesting, I'm really just wanting more WW2 content. There is still much to be explored on that front. I know that they said Italy is not it, but man, Italy would've been great. Quite a diverse cast of aeroplanes, unique mountainous terrain, just a beautiful land. Whatever it is though, I'm sure I'll end up getting it. I do wish you would go about marketing differently, but I understand the hesitance after such promised features being cancelled.
