CB77Don246 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 I am talking about DCS I purchased the Normandy 2 and the P51 (not intrested in any jets) and have spent so much time trying to see the sights of London the sim has a very steep learning curve, they would get more customers if they made the quick mission easy to work. Ho well I have spent most of my life and it is a long one flying MSFS flight sims and XPLANE and any combat sim you can name not jets but DCS has me well beat. I just want a quick mission for the P51 so I can see the scenery I was hopping to purchase some more WW2 planes but NO WAY NOW.
JG27*Kornezov Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 If you are looking for scenery I think Microsoft Flight simulator gets you covered.
Art-J Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) This thread should probably be merged with dedicated DCS one. @CB77Don246, I'm kind of in the same boat as you, cause I use DCS primarily as civilian simulator just for flying around (and, surprisingly, it's damn good for this purpose). From sightseeing flights point of view, I can only advise on how to get over preferrable area as quickly as possible: a) Start Fast Mission editor; b) After selecting Normandy Map, your plane type, units density (or "None" for scenic flying around alone), ticking "Historical" box (so that you don't get thrown with your Mustang into modern jets furball), click "Generate" button (see - screenshot 1); c) After mission is generated, click "Edit" button. That will take you to full editor map view (see - screenshot 2). Left click on your plane icon (blue or red circle, it will turn yellow with "F" for "Fighter" on it once you click it), then just drag it to where you want to spawn, e.g. London, as on my screenshot. A tip: scrolling and Right-clicking your mouse is used to move around the map; d) You're done, hit the green circle button with arrow ("Fly mission" button) and off you go. By the way, this just-generated fast mission file is saved as "MG.miz" so that you can open it in full editor and tweak it later to your liking. Just be careful - it gets auto-overwritten whenever you use Fast editor again. In the end, within your DCS folder, there's a sub-folder called "Doc". You'll find 2020 game manual there. It will help you learning the editor more on how to create simple missions. Edited September 13, 2023 by Art-J 1
