Its time to reduce the amount of fighters the Lufwaffe puts in the air

Lately, thank God, an update reduced the amount of Luftwaffe aircrafts in the later stages of Stalingrad when Germans were surrounded and the air bridge failing.

 

It honestly makes the campaign more realistic and enjoyable especially on soviets side because it was a slaughter prior to the patch.

 

Now, it would be nice to take a similar approach with Normandy and Bodenplatte, as the Luftwaffe still looks in its prime while historically it wasnt the shadow of its former self.

 

To put it in perspective, I have a FW190A8 career in Normandy (later stages) and a P-51 BoBP career (later stages).

 

One of those careers is a breeze, we often outnumber the enemy, rarely lose pilots, and strafe grounded enemy planes at will without being bothered.

 

The other, we are often facing similar number of opponents, or we are outnumbered, suffer numerous losses and often come short of fighters or pilots before being replenished.

 

I will let you guess which is which.

Except you are facing Spitfires, which will wipe your flight out of the sky in no time.

Are you flying on Hard difficulty, because my experiences with flying the FW 190 A8 in the Normandy are a bit different?

Medium difficulty. Yesterday I got 14 kills in my A8.

And 6 ground targets. It was an attack troops mission.

 

I remember destroying 2 grounded Mustangs, a whole lot of Spitfires and many B-26s too.

 

Its not always like that mind you. But OVERALL the Luftwaffe simply is too strong for that period. Also, why are there so many UNESCORTED allied ground attack planes? So often I encounter P-47s and Spitfires with bombs, but without escort? Cannon fodder, as simple as that.

 

However, in my next Mustang mission, we will be 3 to take off for a free hunt, because we're almost out of aicrafts/pilots.

Can you please post a mission showing that? That is not how it should be.

Even on the opposite side (allied) the attackers should always have an escort in BON? 

 

I mean if the player is Germam.

Yes, I have reports from JG 26 that they escorted attack planes during Normandy.

I just saw that this will corrected in the next patch @LukeFF. That's nice.

So I flew my first FW190A-8 mission in Normandy since the new update was released.

 

It was a new day so I really think the changes apply.

 

Again, we crushed the allies. We were 8x to take off, and encountered 4x poor Tempests that were already dogfighting other FWs l, 6 or 8 of them.

 

I also remember engaging 5 or 6 P-47s with bombs THAT HAD NO ESCORT. 

 

I also remember taking down 3x B-26s with minimal escort. 

 

And there was a bunch of 109s too close to the action.

 

I'll post a resume of my next mission in this career soon. But so far the allies still look like a backwater country trying to wage air war.

What were your career difficulty settings? And, mission files, please. ?

Medium difficulty, dense traffic. I'll check if the mission file is still available man I might have flown in my MiG 3 since.
