1Sascha Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 My current GPU is an RTX 3070, driving my ageing Rift-S. But since upgrading my VR-set would definitely require a GPU-upgrade as well, I think I'll keep the Rift for now and start looking at a 40-series Geforce. I have my eye on either the 4070 or 4070 Ti. Cheapest 4070 currently available over here is ~€600. Cheapest 4070 Ti is ~€800. Looking at performance comparison, the 3070 to 4070 upgrade doesn't seem to make *too* much sense, but that's why I'm posting here. Performance comparison according to Passmark: .... and according to 3DMark's Orange Room VR Mark: 3070: 12014 4070: 14285 (~19% higher than the 3070) 4070 Ti: 15681 (30% higher than the 3070) Of course, I would like to get away with spending a little less, especially since I could keep my current 550W PSU with the 4070, but would want to upgrade it for the 4070 Ti. My question is: Does the 4070 even make sense or should I just bite the bullet, save a bit more and go for the 4070 Ti (plus a new PSU)? Anyone running either of those 40-cards in VR (preferably on a Rift-S, or another lower res VR-set)? S.
DerShrike Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Hey, did you pull the trigger on this? How did the 4070 work out of so?
spreckair Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 @1Sascha Like DerShrike above, I am also curious how you made out with the upgrade. Thank you.
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I think you should go for a 4080 or better to make it worth it.
