@dburne  I am still using the Reverb G2; the Varjo Aero is just a tad outside my budget right now.  Could you tell me how a Varjo Aero's visuals compare with a 2K monitor's image?

Not really as I do not have a 2k monitor and even if I did they really can not be compared. Monitor you are looking at a flat image, so sections of image that are supposed to be far away are right there in front of you unlike in VR.  Your eyes are always focused on that 2d image.

VR that is not the case, you have 3d spatial and can see depth as well as everything being all around you like you are really in the plane. In VR the natural focus distance is llike 2-3 meters but you are seeing things both up close and far away, so the further away the less of the actual focus on that part of the image.

Unfortunately the only way to really see if VR is something one would like, is to actually try it.

@dburne  Thank you very much for the quick reply.  I use the G2, so I am familiar with the differences between VR and a flat screen.  What I was trying to understand is the clarity.  The downside to the G2 is that spotting and ID'ing aircraft is far different from flying on screen, and I was wondering if the Varjo Aero was as clear and detailed as a flat screen.

It is better than the G2 but no, still not as detailed as a flat screen at distance.
