ShampooX Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 (edited) World Of Tanks a major sponsor at Tankfest. Those guys are playing chess while our boys at 1C are still playing checkers. Don't our guys know that anyone who has the money to spend to attend Tank Fest probably also would enjoy playing an actual WW2 Tank Sim? Oh yeah, it's sold out too. Checkers. CountZero Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Who would have tought that tank game with Tigers, Panthers, Ferdinands, M4s and T-34s would not be popular with the tank sim crowd, if only Churchill was relised first insted KV-1, ah well im sure next new game will be top sell ?

ShampooX Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) @DD_Crash awesome pics!! That T34/85 is amazing. I noticed too that this year it seems like more of the crews dressed up in period uniforms. Especially the German tankers. In the past they would just show up in any old T shirt or their Members Only jacket from 1985. I sure do love WW2 vintage tanks!!! Edited June 27, 2023 by ShampooActual
Trooper117 Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) When I was on ops in Bosnia, whilst on patrol near the Croatian border, one of my guys told me he thought he had seen a tank barrel through a partially opened barn door. I decided not to go back and check as it would have alerted any military that was in the farm we had seen the tank. Reported the finding when the patrol was finished, and it was decided that we were to conduct a dawn raid the following morning. Imagine my surprise when we went in that morning to find not one, but two T-34's fully bombed up with ammo and fuel, ready if needed to go over the border if things kicked off again... not only that, but in the next barn, there were two 152mm howitzers with shed loads of ammunition to hand. The find was immediately reported and we were ordered to confiscate everything and to stop any Bos Serb military from turning up to try and take the items away. A tense day... the poor old farmer stated he had no choice but to hide them as the military had ordered him to do it. The Bosnian military would turn up every now and then to do maintenance etc. All military equipment was eventually destroyed by the OSCE programme... (broke my heart to see those tanks completely destroyed, as I had to go and confirm it had been done)... Edited June 27, 2023 by Trooper117 1
kestrel79 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Is this worth making a trip to England for? This and Duxford look amazing. Would totally plan out a trip for one of both...someday.
DD_Crash Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 There is certainly enough to see in the UK. Bovington tank museum has a huge collection of tanks. Yeovil has the FAA museum and there are 2 RAF museums and Duxford as well. This and other tourist sights plus Flying Legends. Whats not to like.
