danielprates Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I wont quote it here as it was in my own native, non-sanctioned language, but I am seeying news confirming backwards compatibility. So we got that going for us, which is nice.
Avimimus Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I hope they manage to update the flight models to be something closer to what X-Plane can do. I loaded up a friends copy of MSFS2020 and was pretty unimpressed. ...and what is the point of flying without the feel of flying? That said... that Dune expansion... hmm... tempting.

Yeah, unfortunately, the really good flight models are mostly found in payware expansions, though there are good ones out there, like the DHC-2 - but then, that plane was made by a third party for MSFS. And, of course, there is the excellent mod for the 152 that doesn't cost a thing. 1 1
FlyingNutcase Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Nearly all of those career options hold a strong interest so content galore. Really looking forward to this. An immersive career, if they can pull it off, would be sublime. 1
Enceladus828 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I absolutely loved the EH-101 missions in FSX Acceleration where you would rescue people via the hoist; there was one where you rescue 5 people from a sinking fishing boat and another on Mt. Hood. The air race missions at Istanbul, Longleat and Tempelhof were just epic. One mission which was very cool was UFO Intercept were you intercepted a UFO over Edwards AFB in your F-18 and if you got close to the mothership it would explode and crash. This takes me back to 2007 when I as a 7 year old kid first saw the content of FSX Acceleration and it excited me. MSFS 2023=4 is basically FSX Acceleration 2.0. Cannot wait to do the firefighting, SAR, sling loads, air races, gliding, A-10, medevacs and so much more!!! 1

What a very foolish thing to do…. Since your friends copy of MSFS is not transferable, I take it you’re both using pirated software. As someone who prefers to pay for things with the money I earn I have to say in my opinion those that indulge in theft are nothing but low life scumbags . 2

I was at my friend's house when I tried it. I'm also 99% sure that he bought the copy (based on his personality). Note: Because this was directed at me (and based on a misunderstanding) - I'm going to let this slide for now. But calling another forum user a thief or a low-life scumbag isn't acceptable - so if you do it to anyone else, moderators will step in. I'd encourage you to edit your post.

Ah, that I was at his house... and that I loaded it into his system's RAM when I clicked 'run'? P.S. I don't personally mind you insulting me - but my friend on the other hand... well, if it wasn't inappropriate for me to do so as a moderator - I'd challenge you to a duel over that. Edit: I find it hard to believe that I need to clarify this, but - to be absolutely clear - I am in no way challenging DD_Arthur to a physical duel in the real world, nor am I saying that I would like to do so. We do, however, have a flight simulator where we can have virtual duels.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I haven't loaded MSFS2020 for awhile, it's looking mighty inviting at this point.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Things are getting kind of strange around here.
1CGS LukeFF Posted June 17, 2023 Author 1CGS Posted June 17, 2023 Guys, either discuss the MSFS announcement or don't post at all. 2
CUJO_1970 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 FSX had backwards compatibility with many aircraft from FS2004. This sounds like it’s going to be a more refined, official version of that. I’m wondering if this may also apply to any of the airport DLC, etc. At any rate, I will be investing in whatever hardware updates this thing requires.
ZachariasX Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 I seriously doubt they touch the simworld itself at all. It would make very little sense. Hence there should be backward compatibility with scenery addons. What they seem tochange is just the scope of the sim engine and adapt it for futher functionality. In this light, a combat sim would be in the cards technically down the road. P3D had exactly that as a "pro-professional" expansion. 1
Lusekofte Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 I am very sceptic about this. They made a lot of third party and customers believe this is it. And then make a new one. No I wont easily go into this again. it worser than description and more expencive. At least for me only having time once a month to fly it 1
simfan2015 Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 To have a combat sim AFAIK the world around must interact and be destructable, at least in some way. MSFS does it even qualify to ever be used like that ???
DBFlyguy Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 A lot of good info from the Asobo/Microsoft Team tonight 2 2

Even A2A have moved past "in two weeks" now with their Commanche... For years, nothing really happens, how much they tell us the misery will drag on, "it is how it is"... and then EVERYTHING happens at once. And Seb mentioning @AnPetrovich made me smile. Andrey, we want drop tanks in MSFS! Edited June 24, 2023 by ZachariasX 1 3

That should be good VR news, right? Together with keeping the local files much smaller in size, they want to maintain the minimum specs low, so thet "everyone" can play the sim. Seems they have heard the lamentations of simers spending a good day on a full reinstall. 12 million sales of MSFS2020 (they never called it that way, but as it is the persistent vulgo of the sim everywhere online, Jörg thought it was sensible to accept that fact) since launch, 5 millions of FSX sales since launch. I get the feeling that sometimes things are niche because they are not done right. 1 4

szelljr Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Micro-softs'... All is there on the video , 21:06... ?

Being cross platform probably helps and they've also been a shining example of community engagement and marketing. 2
1CGS LukeFF Posted June 24, 2023 Author 1CGS Posted June 24, 2023 Some great new hardware was announced by Honeycomb as well. 1
chiliwili69 Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 They made a mistake in the trailer, look this picture: Who can find it? Clue: This is the nice airport of Bilbao (BIO) in Sondika in the Basque Country (Spain).

BOO Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 This announcment really excites me. But My big wish given the amount of human AI shown in the trailer is that 2024 goes much further than 2020 to get that aspect right. Currently, the limited routines, scant model variations and glitch/glides of the existing bods unfortunately do more to remove immersion than they add. Seems improved in the trailer but trailers is trailers.. Also hoping that somethng is done about the single contact points in AI vehicles and aircraft with is another good reason for avoiding some airports. Currently all minor niggles in a great game but if hikers with broken ankles float sideways to the chopper or ghost into the pit they will be left for the crows..... ? 2

Lusekofte Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I slowly getting used to the idea. I honestly believed we had support for multitread If this new thing get to be smoother and prettier I believe I buy a basic account and then be a little more selective and patient about what plane to buy. I like vintage airplane but in this sim I am more into how it is made and fm 1
Trooper117 Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 You... are up and down like the Assyrian Empire! I knew you'd give in... 1
kestrel79 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Looks great! Loved the shoutout for the form IL2 dev, you know that guy is gonna make the new game really nice feeling like this one is hopefully. That's exciting. I think having more "stuff to do" built in will get even more casual gamers into flight sims. Not to mention the amazing graphics. It's pretty cool that most people I know who game haven't heard of DCS or IL2 but they know what MSFS2020 is. 1
dburne Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Not sure how accurate his sources are - according to VR Flight Sim Guy VR support for MSFS 2024 is confirmed. Which is a great thing for the technology. 1
Lusekofte Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 As I read, calmed me down. They do this to adress slow loading time crashes improve mt and a lot of things benefiting me. I no longer is negative
CUJO_1970 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 We need you on that wall with us Lusekofte, would be no fun without you. 1
