mrmcmichael Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Steam does this with games all the time. Devs can and should issue keys to existing users. This team did the exact same thing to it's longtime users with RoF. Steam wants people to use their platform and gives devs the option to allow them to do so. If Jason really doesn't believe that this can be done, then he needs to do more research, especially since they had plans to integrate with steam since the beginning. It's bad marketing if 777 can't figure this out, pissing off the most vocal and dedicated users before the game is even released is sure to backfire on them.
216th_Jordan Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Umm, might anyone explain to me why steam is so important and what it basically is good for except as another game-purchasing platform...? I've been trying to figure it out, but i have not come to a satisfactory answer....
dburne Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I personally do not care for Steam, do not like using their interface, and right now the only sim I have that requires it is Cliffs of Dover. But I can see how one might like having that platform, to manage and update all of their games. But sounds to me like from what I have seen posted here, that this issue is more of a Valve/Steam issue, rather than a BOS issue. Those that want that ability might be good to be as vocal on the Steam forums about it as well.
