Pacific WW2 sim - COMBAT PILOT

I wonder if the people/engineers actually using UE for development of military-grade flight sims for instance, might actually know a thing or two. ?

In other words, relax. If they’re using it, it’s because it will work.

That’s not “at” anyone in particular.

Just because it has a trailer doesn't mean much. There are lots of tomfoolery involved with marketing trailers, biggest example all of is everything Star Citizen.

Also, there was another sim supposedly built in UE that also had lots of static objects and made to look like an actual product but...

Yes, nothing new here.

How does this relate to the NOR Platform etc?

Must've never been to a rifle range.. Sucks trying to use a scoped rifle with your hat brim facing forward, or maybe you've never gotten a bad sunburn on the back of your neck. Plenty of good reasons to wear a hat backwards, that is of course if you actually go outside and use your hat as more than just a fashion statement.

lol... not his fault he knows eff all about my life... even at my age now, I could put a 7.62 between his eyes at 400m plus.

It sure does cost now - about a buck going down-range every time. Then I need a guy with a glass telling me where I hit, and that’s only at 100m. No ranges with metal on this side of the Cascades. Another good reason to get the hell away from here.

That ranks right up there with some of the stupidest things I have ever seen posted on this Forum in the 10 years I have been coming here. ROFLMAO!

Note to self, be nice to Trooper.:salute:

I think every shot for my moose hunting rifle cost about 3$

Snd when you shot a moose you pay ? for every kilo to landowner. Nothing cost more than providing your own meals.

I feel that. 9mm and 5.56 are bad enough these days, but got myself an old sporterized 1898 Krag to fix up as a project rifle, I see people selling 20rd boxes of 30-40 for $90! And thats not even the good stuff. That'll be what pushes me to get into reloading my own ammo for sure, especially if I keep up this habit of buying weird old guns in weird calibers.

Honestly, pretty flattered some people think I'd be worth a .308 at todays prices... I'll wear that one like a badge ;)

Don’t get a big head about it - he didn’t say he’d go .338. That’s $5.00 to $7.00 per round last time I checked.

Yeah, there’s a humour filter operating on these forums created by someone who appears to have absolutely no sense of humour….

There can be a large divide between British and U.S. humour. Not to mention spelling, grammar and date formats. Just an observation and not meant to distract from this fascinating discussion on er .... what was it?

The Wallpapers that were a part of DD 05 looked really nice. Much nicer than I expected quite frankly.

It seems that the work is progressing, now can we know some information about the game engine?

Or do you still use IL2 engine derived from an old original dx9 game?

Not sure why you are asking here or why you think that they use the IL-2 engine. Combat Pilot is a project by a different game studio than the one that makes IL-2 BOX.

You should ask on their forum.

In discord they stated that they will not pass information about the game engine. Simply because they have not yet developed it to its full potential.
or they do not fully know how it going to work.
I do agree about its importance, after all todays demands on a game are high and limitations are issues both in DCS and GB

We all like to know this. But they will never give full information on it. Because that is a give away

You can be 1000% sure they will not use IL-2 engine for Combat Pilot ?

They couldn't use it even if they wanted, simply because as a separate, new company they don't own it.

Just my two cents here, of course they 'could', via licensing or other commercial arrangement. Whether that's in the cards, that's an entirely different matter and everyone who's been reading this forum for the past few years would guess it is indeed off the table.

I can think of no reason why anyone developing a new air combat sim would want to use the old IL-2 engine as a starting point. Modifying it to modern standards would take longer than starting from scratch, if it were possible at all.

Well combat pilots customers mainly comes from this community. And we will fly both if we find it worth while. If they for some stupid reason where allowed to use Gb game engine. Which would be very unlikely if not imposiible and incredibly stupid thing to do. I would rather have a look at new GB.
even if that meant biting the bullet and accept the annoying fact it going to Korea.
I am very interested of what their game engine can do. But I know Jason knows what is expected.
We want working comms. Improved complexity on DM and a fuel system that allowed for drop tanks. I have no wish for DCS styled start up but a believable real feel of being a pilot during ww2

Even at this "early" stage The Akagi looks great. I look forward to the crowd funding and seeing what appetite and trust exists for an early punt. Im sure Ill find a few quid to throw in if only to honour the honest approach demonstrated to date.

Wow! That is quite something ?

Does anyone know what the level of intended damage and systems modelling is?

I doubt that they will share it at this time.

Well they said what game engine they use and they had an opinion they would make it work , but they simply do not know what extent. I do not think they know details yet, but Jason knows what expected.
