Career: increase missions with no enemy contact

Hi all,

Is there a possibility to decrease enemy contact or

increase the number of missions with no enemy contact in the air

for the career mode.

Especially for battle of moscow would be very necessary for a realistic feeling.

Since i estinate bom could last 120 missions i cant feel comfortable having then 200 kills, since this is not historical correct.

Thanks

What I do (in addition to playing on rapid) is roll a d6 every mission. On 6 minus 1 per 20 victories, I fly the mission. Otherwise I skip it (just immediately end the mission as soon as it starts). This seems to result in at least somewhat plausible scores, like 17 in a Tempest career through all of Normandy and Rhineland compared to 79 (!) in a similar career when I was still flying every mission.

German pilots starting in Moscow still have plenty of time to run up the score (and I give them an extra +1 to the roll to help them get started). My current 109 pilot is at 51 about a third of the way through Kuban.

Fly Ironman mode. You'll find that if you don't repeat missions to get better results the lack of brains of your wingmen equals the lack of skill of the enemy. You'll get much less kills when almost every mission you'll end up alone trying to get back to friendly lines with 8+ enemies on your tail.

Also start a career as commander and simply put yourself out of flights as you wish. It usually ends with the AI flight you send out scoring 1 bomber kill if it's air superiority, or a few transports trucks if it's ground attack of any kind, with no friendly losses some 90%+ of the time.

Finally, just accept that the AI is flying a much more complex flight model than in past sims (the same as the player from what I've read here), thus they can't extract rocket powered moves from their aircraft as before, which leads to them not 'knowing' how to energy fight. Aircraft that should be mostly used in energy fighting also don't have the right routines for it, they all only know how to turn fight. The increased complexity in the FM and flaws in the mission scripting also causes their brains to just switch off many times (enemy flights also lose their marbles some times, not as often as your friendlies but it also happens). Just live with it, it's just AI, maybe adjust your score with some formula like Hotaru_Ito above.

Thanks for the good advises.

But i thought about Pat Wilson.

In his adon you can change air density.

So i supposed there is some kind of file where i can open and hardcode edit it, changing just some numbers.

@LukeFF

@pat wilson any ideas?

The only way right now to reduce aircraft numbers in the stock career mode is to reduce the density and difficulty settings.

I have flown some hundred missions in a ground attack career over normandy and rhineland and I would very much appreciate if we could set air and ground density with separate settings. Nearly all my ground attack missions were intercepted (usually dense/medium difficulty), often by a substantial numbers of enemy aircraft where even ground attacking Fockewulfs and their escorts will go after my flight. My last three missions ended with a bunch of A-8s, G-14 and K-4s chasing my lone typhoon back to base and if you cannot gain enough separation they unfortunately won't disengage and are pretty much able to wipe all my escorts and flight without problem in the process. Changing the density makes the problem a bit smaller, however after that you loose many ground targets action and FLAK around the frontline.

At present there is not really a good solution to have somewhat realistic ground attack scenarios with strong FLAK while luftwaffe being only an occasional threat. I think it should not be that hard to implement, since the missions are already scaled by difficulty and density settings, just split the density settings into air density/ground density. This would be beneficial to scale for all careers and the players could create more realistic opposition levels when flying as bomber pilots or ground attack pilots simulating that allies had air superiority in the late stages of the war for example.

It would be great even if we could MOD it somehow by altering some config files, but I am not aware there is such possibility in the stock career.  I know that PWCG is the solution, but I still like the interface, medals and missions in the stock career with nicely populated airfields, destructible objects, etc.
