Hello, guys!

I am looking for some monitor recomendations for flying (Il-2) and other sims.

I am using 2560x1440 on a Gigabyte 32" G32CQ VA panel. After I upgraded my rig recently to a RTX 4080 and a 13900K I am looking to upgrade to 4K resolution. I don't do VR.

Im sitting between 50 and 60 cm from the screen right now and have no issues with my 32".

I have doubts in several things:

1) First of all, there is this Gigabyte M28U monitor with 28". This one looks really good, but I'm afraid that downgrading from 32" to 28" might be noticeable for me.
There is also people on the internet telling how you need at least 32" to notice 4K resolution.  PPI might be incready by a lot, but would be a issue with my distance?

I am interested in the Arm edition, which would help me on my tiny desk. There is also the 32", but its almost 200€ more pricey.

2) Secondly, I heard about IPS glow and other problems. Is that noticeable today? My VA panel has several ghosting issues and to be honest, my brain ommited those after several hours of use when I bought it. I love to fly night missions and I'm afraid I won't be used to it.

3) Thirdly, what about ultrawide monitors? I heard from some people that there are some issue with height and such. I personally think that I ma fine with 16:9.

4) And last, I have a budget of around 600€ to 650€. I don't mind expending a little bit more if its worth it, but are there other better options than the Gigabyte M32U or M28U series with good price here in Spain?

Kind regards and thank you all for your time!

Wow, that is an awesome monitor - plus, now I know why you weren't impressed by the G2!  You are probably going to need Varjo or Pimax Crystal (fingers crossed on that one) to be happy with VR clarity coming off that monster.

S! Varibraun,

I hope all is well and many thanks for your kind words, young sir.

My new tower arrives tomorrow and now have the damper kit for my MFG Crosswinds too. Seriously considering the Pico 4 or might just stick to Track IR!

Fly safe!

Have both, ASUS ROG Swift PG43UQ and now LG OLED 48GQ900-B

Both great, but LOVE the LG.

IK, it is above your target$, but they are awesome. Good for spotting at 4k! with all the eye candy.

DCS looks amazing. But in MP fly w 2560x1440 to be more competetive..

Have G2 and keep flying flat screen.

Hello guys,

Thank you for your tips! So far, everything goes far far away from my budget ?

But I might go for the Asus XG43UQ, the VA version @SCG_Tzigy. I had bad luck with IPS or Oled Burn in in the last years.

Kind regards,

I have a 4K 43" LG (non Oled) and I find the size just right working at 95 cm distance. With a 48" you need to constantly move your head from one side to the other, that would be too mjuch. I use the screen for work so I cannot have a unique gaming oriented solution.

If you are far away like 1.5 meters and use only for gaming then sure 48" is fine.
