easterling77 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Mission 2 of the Iron Wind campaign. I have a passion for radials like the 190 and the LA-5 since the beginning. @BlackSixThanks for giving us this campaign Best greetings DP 4
Axelis-777*_* Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I'm not sure if post-edits are allowed here in this thread, so I uploaded both with and without clouds edited in. If there's only one picture then the moderators removed one of them. Just bought the game weeks ago and I'm having a blast. Happy to be here, y'all! 😀 12 1
easterling77 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) Mission 04 of the Iron Wind campaign. I came back on fumes...only seconds after making this picture - my engine was out of fuel and I made a glide to the runway...that was close Edited February 19 by easterling77 1 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 20 1CGS Posted February 20 Yes, mission 4 is a real challenge. I was shot down the first two times. Third time, I was content to just survive and fly another day.
easterling77 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 "Fly another day" makes the point! By climbing to altitude allready seeing the furball over me - thinking "oh that will get worse every moment, I stay here." The whole time, I was checking my high six. There was never the goal to get a kill - just don't get shot up! I got one 109 which dived after another guy and flatend out in a shalow turn. This kill came out of coincidence and luck, and right after that, I dived to the deck and back to the base with the feeling of expendet my luck for that day. Surviving the mission by barely making it back to base, felt more relieving then ramping up high kill counts - that would only got me killed. So, even the mission wasn't a long one, it gave so much thrill and challenge. Thanks again to the crafter of this experience. Best greetings DP 1
Stonehouse Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) Due to testing a new version of AI Gunnery I seem to have had a lot of chances recently to take screenshots of the MC202s and their attempts to shoot down Li2s Edited February 23 by Stonehouse 9
cripplehawk Posted February 26 Posted February 26 January 15, 1943 Adolf Fegelein's final landing in Pitomnik. He was ordered to take the transport plane out of the pocket Parking one last time Spoiler Leaving the pocket as a passenger 3
cripplehawk Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Close Call. To survive the horrors of the Stalingrad front only to die at the very end. Luckily Fegelein's plane was at the front (He's a passenger not pilot). His time in JG3 is coming to an end......for now

Nine soldiers were lucky enough to escape with it. But I've seen a source claim that two days later, an Arado 242 took off from a field inside the pocket. This was when the Platzschutzstaffel had long abandoned Pitomnik. Some soldiers escaped by foot all the way to German lines, only to be killed when their train back west was attacked by Il-2s. 2

Very correct I should have clarified. This was January 15, 1943 The last day Pitomnik was an active base. That night the Soviets laid waste to Pitomnik with artillery barrages and "Rolling" bomb runs. It was captured on January 17, 1943 (Or January 16, 1943 per historian Christer Bergstrom) Pitomnik wreckage below One of the last Ju 52s about to start up at Ptomnik Stuka Sonderstaffel earlier that month Spoiler Edited March 1 by cripplehawk clarification 2
