Lots of beautiful places here in Wales. Being a Pontypool RFC supporter this is my view when I go to watch rugby.

To tell you the truth. Wales is a gem.
It is the place in uk with least tourism but probably one of my top 5 ever

And I have been around. Me and missus been in Farao Islands La Gomera and many places in Greece Spain South America  , south east Asia Japan. I can’t believe I missed wales all these years. Been in Ireland London and Liverpool

So where else is on the schedule and how are you getting around Luse?

Edit; is there any writing or makers mark on your new flak gun? Does not really look like a toy?

It is not a toy. It is a heavy metal very detailed model. I guess 1,5 to 2 kg.
I will look for marks. Bought it in a used store with a wonderful elderly man.  I could not bring myself to haggle the price. I know there is no way to find that guns equal for me. Tomorrow we go with steam train to Devils bridge. After that I rent a car and visit Snowdonian national park. I guess we are going up to east Scotland too.
I have an open ticket home. We might extend the trip

Be careful where you park in Snowdonia. If you park on the side of the road you run the risk of the police having your car towed so keep to the car parks.

We don’t see rugby in Norway. Stopped for a beer in a pier pub and watched women’s rugby for a while. England vs Wales.
man I became a instant fan. What a sport. And tough women.

The good thing about Wales' climate is that you can blink and be in a completely new season. My folks live in the south so I get to experience it in all it's different moods. And the England Wales game was a belter :)

We had half a day with wind and rain yesterday rest was sun. I guess we just are lucky. People swim long distances here and man this little town came to life this nice Saturday. Absolutely a common happy place. Fro 1 month up to houndred years they all was out taking advantage of this lovely spring day. Where I am from we call this summer.
I take advantage of this apartment getting my canon displayed. My wife looked at me in disbelief and told me where I could put it

How are you proposing to get that thing home, Lusekofte? I can see problems if you try to include it in your luggage on a flight. ?

Good point. I think his wife’s suggestion - while a good one - will only get him as far as the airside metal detectors….

…..probably not in a position to make a run for it by then either….?

Aberystwyth ❤️

Tomorrow we take the train to Shrewsbury and have a look there. Birthplace of Darwin and it really looked nice from the train.
We are not accustomed to the overly genuine politeness here in Wales, and try to acclimate into it. Very friendly sort of people.
There was No available rental cars in Aberystwyth so we rent one for the duration in Shrewsbury. We might extend our stay a week longer. We like it here.

And Blaeneu Ffestiniog, though they've got monster zip lines there now so there is a reason to visit.

@Lusekofte in your second picture you can see my university halls of residence.  The bridge pictures are of Devil's Bridge which is where they started conserving the Red Kite.  I used to cycle around there and would count it a good day if I saw 2 of them.  Now they're everywhere.

For me the 2 best parts of Wales are Pembrokeshire in the SW corner and the Llyn Peninsula where you have views across to Snowdonia.

You forget the Brecon Beacons. Below is Llyn y Fan Fach at the Black Mountain in the Carmarthenshire part. This the lake of the Lady of the Lake legend - I won't repeat it here as it is long.

Always liked the Welsh, when they come to Dublin for the Rugby, we always have the craic in the pub.

And then we beat them.

I used to spend hours roaming that castle as a kid.

With a weeks worth of railtour ticket in my pocket, North Wales was my playground in my 2 month school holidays.

Wonderfull memories remain.

If you get the chance, go to Wrexham, and shoot Ryan Reynolds in the face for me.

Yeah, not a fun place to drive even for us locals.

On Sunday is a feast of rugby awaiting you. 3 club cup finals in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, £10 a ticket and you can watch all 3 games, tickets available at the gate - won't be anywhere near full so plenty of room. Unlike football, fans of different teams sit next to each other with no trouble. If that isn't to your taste Cardiff Castle is worth a visit. Plenty of places to eat down at Cardiff Bay - but don't walk there from the centre as some of the locals on the way are a bit weird.

If you are tempted to go down the road to Newport - don't - its a god forsaken dump and the only good thing about it is you can leave ?

This weekend Cardiff then Pembrokeshire. Then we probably delay our return and go Scotland. Age shows itself, I am like a overstimulated baby. just the wonderful impression of the people and countryside is breathtaking. And people from Wales just do not know what they got.

But I believe Wales will be visited by a lot of tourist in years to come, for good and for bad.

I think also, we are lucky being here in good weather and off season.

I’m jealous.

One of the things I find endlessly fascinating and alluring about GB is the history.

So in the U.S. original New York is essentially gone, what little remains of original Boston or Philadelphia is a few hundred years old. Been there but a moment.

In Britain you can walk into a 700 year old Pub. Just from a structure standpoint that’s amazing to me, even if it was originally a carriage house or something. However in some cases an establishment has actually been a pub for all that time! You just can’t get that here. I use a pub only as an example - point is…history. I geek out on it a bit.

So I’m envious of your fantastic vacation. :)
