Cheers for this guys, a great update! I’m looking forward to a more sedate, chivalrous type of death and destruction with these old kites, the models look fab!

Also finished my first successful recon flight... This was really exhausting.. I assume its always the target next to me I have to Identify in the right zone?

Photo recon - you're flying over an assigned zone and taking pictures.

Air recon - you fly over an assigned area and ID what targets are in the area.

I'd be interested to know how to achieve this in Mission Editor, have I missed a trigger/event regarding camera-equipped planes? Especially in Dserver MP missions. I'd love to create functioning recon missions. So far they are fake ones that check only that you enter the recon area.

Can anyone elaborate on point 39 in the change log? How exactly were the timers changed?

39. Recovery time of time limited engine modes have been adjusted (now the required recovery time is proportional to the time limit itself);

Also would like to know, what does that mean? Devs please? Thx...

A little clarification about engine timers.
Now all engines with a limit of 1 minute - have the same cooldown, with a limit of 3 minutes - the cooldown is different, but also the same among themselves, engines with a limit of 5 minutes are also the same ... and so on.
Prior to this, two motors with the same timer could have different recovery times.
It's a small step forward, yes. But still, the mechanics of the timers should become a little clearer for the players.

Thanks.Where I find those numbers, ate they are in the aircraft specification or listed somewhere in the forum, or i need figured it out myself , it's important for new players.  We need some simple table, 1 WEP - 5 min to regenerate etc. and what about engine regiments that are not quite exactly in combat or WEP just between how then regeration time work?

They're actionscript files: data\swf\extensions\airrecon\main.gfx, data\swf\extensions\artcorrection\main.gfx and data\swf\extensions\photorecon\main.gfx. Run them from a Translator:Media with its Media setting set to "Flash". The widget will show up once you trigger the Translator:Media, and disappear when you trigger a Translator:Media with its Media setting set to "Stop Media", or when the widget is closed from within the flash file itself (e.g. just after you've made a photo in a photorecon mission). In the latter case, it'll trigger an "OnMediaStopped" event which you can use to link further MCUs.

Ookay... Thanks for the info, have to try it out. However it will most likely work only on SP missions fluently as Translator:Media is shown/played on all clients when it triggers.

Great  News !!?

Definitely I will buy all the  new FC-Stuff !!

The only thing that makes me sad is that there seems to be no chance to get the Floatplanes (Hansa Brandenburg an Felixstowe) of the Rise of flight planeset !  ?

But  I think thats because of the same reason why we will not get   the   Bristol Beaufighter   in BOX:  Because of the majority of the online gamers,   the  game ist really fighter-heavy !!

Most of the onliners  use only the late war crates ! ?

Anyway

I am happy that there is progress in this game !

and perhaps...

I can dream a little bit ?

Thanks guys

Looks like 3, 5 and 10 min WEP limits all recharge in 10 mins.

If you're using combat or WEP regiments that are above or below the manual specs, then I find it easier to visualize the timer as an energy bar rather than as a timer. You're energy bar will deplete at a slower or faster rate than the stated time in the manual, but your recharge time for an empty energy bar will be the same. Using the F4 as an example, you get 1 min at 1.42 ata, or ~5 min at 1.37, but regardless of whether you used 1 min at 1.42 or 5 min at 1.37, your empty energy bar will take 5 min to recharge.

Thanks, I read yours posts about those artificial engine parameters. I just believe they should be made transparent by the devs.

FC3 will be day one buy for me. I was afraid that the Nieup 11 might not make the cut, but it's there and I really look forward to the Alb D2 as well. And the cherry on the cake is that we'll get the EIII after that, together with other key older aircraft. I can't wait to dogfight in a EIII in VR!

Per the announcement:

"Release of the Flying Circus Vol. III is scheduled for the end of 2023."

Don't it usually take years between the announcement and when it's being released?

I am not complaining, this is great news?

why cant you just make it so we can see engine timer expired and recovered when we have only techchat turned on (99% servers use this only) so we see this like all other techchat messages.

also you should check mw50 10 min timer recover as when i turn on instrument panel to see messages, it says its recovered after 5 min passed since it sayed it expired, so 10min of use recovers in 5min, before update it was 10min in use recover in 10min.

EDIT:

and for mw50 if i belew it that its fully recharged after 5min and start to use its 10min timer again, i get expired message again after only 5min of use of 10 min timer, so it looks like something is wrong there for 109g6 g14 and k4

You have to read it very carefully, they say that the release is scheduled for the end of 2023. That does not mean that the release will also take place at the end of 2023. I have great doubts whether such a date can be kept.

Reminder: The release of Flying Circus 2 was also planned around Q1 2022, with a possible slip to Q2 2022 if quality issues. We are now one year later...

See posting from January 11, 2022 "2021 Sturmovik Year in Review":

For myself I would be percetly fine with a later release, since I no longer buy a pig in a poke anyway. Lesson learnend. :))

It would be nice if the cooldowns were 1:1 for their respective timer, so 5mins of max power requires 5mins of continuous to recharge, 2mins of max power requires 2mins of continuous to recharge, etc. A lot of players would appreciate this and it would completely clear up any confusion as to how the timers/recharges work.

Still hopeful a better system can be designed in the future if time allows it, perhaps based off thermals.

I'd really love to see the BE2 as a collector plane, since it was one of the primary victims for the early Fokkers.

I've been waiting close to 15 years for the Be2, so I wouldnt hold your breath.. I know its not going to massively popular amongst fighter jocks in MP, but it was pretty much the backbone of the RFC/RAF from the beginning, so the fact that we never even got an AI version is quite puzzling..

But its good news about FCII finally being done, and the announcement of FCIII is quite exciting.. I think I'll wait to see if they plan to do anything about the Dh2 flight model, and adding more planes that we didnt have in RoF before buying anything though..

Time limits are very unrealistic, many planes would have dropped out of the sky by engines being blown up during dogfights, why dont get rid of time limits and if someone abuses his engine for too long you get a loss of power of some sort instead.

  1. Updated the sounds of air explosions of medium and large caliber AA rounds;

  2. Added separate sounds of air explosions for the British QF13-pounder 6 cwt (76.2 mm) and the German Flak 77 L/27 AA guns

I can confirm it sounds scary ?☠️

Is there a more in depth description on how to use these, like the way JimT's mission editor manual shows things? This doesn't make sense to me, particularly since there are no files to select in those locations when the translator media is set to flash

While I completely agree with you about the timers, how would you implement your quoted statement?

It would be a giant can of worms, and lead to endless flame wars on the forum.  The P47 pilots would be posting about the Pratt & Whitney test where the R2800 was run for days at WEP without failure, I would certainly be pushing for a far more usable Allison V1710, etc... etc... etc...

So how does it get done???

Same as current time limits, but instead of blowing up the engine, just have a loss of power.

For those who are interested only in ww2 content the adding of ww1 content in their SSD hard-drives is a waste of space. I know I will not buy ww1 content. Why should I store it in my PC? This is basically a different game. Let's say that for tank crew it makes sense to have joint operations. But for ww1 it is a waste of space.
In DCS you buy and store modules at will. You do not store modules that you do not buy, or do not use. Why that can't be in il2.

No mention of the Siemens-Schuckert D-IV at all. Am  I correct in assuming that this is no longer working? If so will those of us who preordered be refunded?

First off I wanted to say a great job on the update! I'm loving the new map! I have one thing to say though with A LOT of disappointment, I was extremely hyped to be able to fly in the American volunteer corp escadrille N 124 for the French. While the name is there, its just a normal French squadron, with all French pilots and French Bio's. :( Anyway we can get this updated with American Bio's and Names and Skin changes. Please.

I'm 99% sure that is an incorrect assumption. It appears the artwork has been in engine for over a month now and some of the coding is being done as well.

There is a general lack of coordination on the news front (maybe related to hesitancy with English translations or something)? We're often left with a lot of uncertainty these days when it isn't necessary. I suspect that they were just focussed on announcing FC.III, committing to some of the other aircraft (for FC3.5? Collector planes? FCIV? It isn't clear), didn't mention the floatplanes/seaplanes (perhaps because they haven't committed to building a WWI Channel map for them yet? Or at least not in the near future before the new map tech is out??) and simply forgot about mentioning the SSW.DIV in the midst of all of that.

Afterall, they've shown us screenshots of it in game... so they probably assume we know about it and don't need reassurance etc?

More sexy  nieuports on the way. So cool. Sad though that the eindecker isn't included in the main FC3 release.

Nieup 11 and the Eindecker go so well together.

In general, they are going backwards from the end of the war (IMHO an excellent decision).  The plane decisions are kind of wonky from this point of view, especially excluding the Albatros D.III from FCIII in favor of the Halberstadt and Albatros D.II.

If you really wanted to go based on timeline it would look like the following.  That would allow for a firm Oct 1916 start with everything else coming later.

  • German Albatros D.II fighter
  • German Albatros D.III fighter.
  • French Nieuport 17.C1 fighter
  • French fighter Nieuport 17.C1 GBR adapted for British service
  • French Hanriot HD.1 fighter.
  • British Sopwith Pup fighter.
  • British two-seat reconnaissance aircraft R.E.8.
  • British two-seat reconnaissance Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter.

  • British rear-engine fighter Airco DH.2.
  • British two-seat medium bomber F.E.2b.
  • French Nieuport 11.C1 fighter
  • German Fokker E.III monoplane fighter.
  • German fighter Halberstadt D.II
  • German two-seat reconnaissance Roland C.IIa.

Problem with Gotha Career

Before the patch it was easy for me take off as squad leader and let the ai‘s climb with me and they hold formation when fly with a bit reduced throttle ( missions created with EMG ) Same seems doesn’t work anymore, the squad don’t follow my climb but fly far in front of me…?

Do I something wrong or does the patch change anything, maybe this?:

-Fixed an issue with AI pilots climbing in formation, which, in particular, could cause the wingmen to fly with their flaps extended and therefore lag behind the rest of the flight-

Next time I will try to fly with more heavy loadout than the rest of the squad ?

By the way: just followed the landing procedure of my squad, two landing’s: two crashes…??‍♂️

Re. new Fort Verdun:

File > Import From File > Template folder > wfront_full_scene.Group   (template load takes 5 minutes or so).

I believe that the fort is in group Cities > Verdun > object id 25949 (assuming you load the template to a blank map). Just look in the western part of Verdun.

Thank for still improving the mechanic and make it more transparent and comprehensible.

Will you in the near future review the WEP timings for the DB605a (1min -> 3min) and Ash-82fn (10min -> 5min)

and will we get in the near future the option to disable the mechanic of engine timers?

Cheers✌️
