Systems modeling

After several hundred hours of flying WWII stuff in DCS, I popped into IL2, as I do from time to time, and, as I always am, was blown away by how much better this game looks and how much more approachable it is in terms of singleplayer content and how much; just BETTER the overal package of the program itself is.  And, as I always feel each time I do this, I think to myself, I would probably abandon DCS if two things, which are related, were ever addressed:

  1. Systems modeling.
    1. actual oil pressure/temp
    2. actual coolant/enging temp
      1. actual wear caused by exceeding these
    3. actual wear caused by over rpm for extended periods
    4. etc
    5. FUEL SYSTEMS
      1. Including drop tanks
  2. Related to the first.  Damage related to systems modeling
    1. Scrap the "arcade/gamey" "so many minutes above x"  "So many minutes/seconds above Y" and the engine/plane dies.

Offered for no other reason other than honest feedback from a user.

@BM357_TinMan Welcome! I like some of us have been gaming since the beginning of time - 1st flight sim was MicroProse F-19 Stealth Fighter. The one thing I can say is there has never been a single flight simulator that has been all things for everyone.

If you are into modern jets - DCS

If you are into WW I/WW II - IL-2 GB

If you are into civil aviation - MSFS2020

So I wouldn't abandon DCS because every game has its short comings and you might want to manage your expectations as you delve deeper into IL-2 GB.

That said - this sim like DCS is 20 years old and will not get much in terms of technical improvements (in terms of your asks above) as the developers have said point blank that a new project is afoot.

But enjoy it!
