Bilbosmeggins Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Hi all Been away from IL2 for ages, as the last time I tried to play I had major controller mapping issues. I’ve just returned, and tried to fire it up in VR. It looks horrendous. It’s difficult to explain the effect I’m seeing, but here goes: It looks like the view is somehow compressed. The actual cockpits seem incredibly narrow. And looking outside, although it’s 3D, it’s sort of forced in a way that is incredibly hard on the eyes. It’s almost like trying to watch a 3D telly with the glasses inverted. I don’t know how else to sum it up. At first, I figured it just must be that I’d chosen a strange resolution or something, and it was deciding what to do with a 4:3, 16:9 or whatever. But having tried different resolutions, that’s not the culprit. I’ve also played with the IPD settings, both in game, and physically on the G2. Again, not the culprit. I’ve delved through the options and cannot seem to find anything else that might fit the bill. I don’t think the problem lies with SteamVR, or OpenXR because I have Elite Dangerous and DCS both behaving beautifully. Any ideas?
Hartigan Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Hi, 60hz mode might cause fish eye effect. Have you check that? Also take a look at steamvr per application video settings while IL2 is running. Alt-tab and check field of view custom scale. It should be 100% I think
firdimigdi Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Make sure it's set to high quality, max resolution in the WMR settings. IL-2 doesn't like it otherwise.
Bilbosmeggins Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 Thanks both of you. I’m away from my PC atm, but shall check your suggestions asap. Much appreciated. I’ll report back once I’ve tested ?
Hints Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Thanks a lot firdimigdi ! I messed those settings up and did not know later which settings are fault GPU, or in game.
