I bought vol 1 and thought I'd give it a go, I thought I preferred the WW2 platform - hugely underestimated how enjoyable FC is ... so went back and got Vol 2 today. A massive misconception on my part - its done so well, you changed my view in one day - congratulations on a job well done guys - I'm so glad I picked the IL2 series instead of DCS for a historical platform - really glad to be a customer.

Welcome to the Front! Like you, I prefer the up-close-and-personal dogfights in Flying Circus to anything else I've experienced. If you have any questions, ask away! Folks here are happy to help. ?

Phew! A fate worse than death narrowly averted. Real men fly WW1.

Over on the Great Battles FB page one guy said "Why are you flying those old WW1 crates when you could be flying beautiful planes like 109, Spitfire?" I didn't bother to reply.

It's great isn't it!

I just hope it keeps going, we need more planes!!

This made me go full Grognard - it didn't have a health warning on it either, as I started watching BBC's Wings ( 45 years since I last watched it ) last night as well.

So for more aircraft can I suggest the B.E.2 for starters ? no particular reason.....

One of my faves back in the day. If the BBC can do Rogue Heroes then why not more WW1 stuff? I reckon all you limey blokes should petition the BBC to get real and give us all what we really want. WW1 crates and moustaches.

I may have been on a ship, but I never drank lime juice, honest...

Lucky its still around to watch - thank you Youtube - the BBC started deleting a lot of its archives to save money about ten years ago - so many things are lost forever - now that I think back I think thats where I got my love of milsims from, the golden era of BoB and pacific warfilms, BBC-Wings, 1/72 toy soldiers, Airfix models etc.

Wings was made ~1977ish I think - only sixty years after the war so there was a lot of social memory of what things were like and people about to ask how it was.

If they make something new now based on the ability to refer to so much data due to the digitising of archive material there would probably be some real interest to see these stories.

Mind you they also make instructional flight programmes like the following ?

Ah I see. So if that is an accurate portrayal of how the chaps really behaved then BBC portrayals of British heroes displaying quiet reserve and a stiff upper lip with panache is a complete and total myth!

We need to consult @Trooper117 on this. I fear I have been hoodwinked all these years. Why, these movies and TV series of the past have been nothing but propaganda based on anything but the truth!

Thanks for posting Oz.

Get back to your F-5 studies, Trooper.  Don’t let these clowns distract you.

Say, I thought it was authorised personnel only! Interlopers verboten. Where's the moderator?

He’s with his wife, son, and cats now, and will be for several hours. You’re trapped in here with me.
