Hello guys, I am considering to change my rudder pedals (Logitech G Pro Flight) and I would change to Virpil Ace collection Pedals. I use RSMapper also as devices mapper.

Someone have the same configuration? Virpil Ace collection Pedals + RSMapper, please?

Many thanks for your help!

Ciao!

Slightly OT, but: I hope you're prepared to wait for those pedals. VPC seem to be "a bit" overwhelmed by orders still (from Xmas/BF sales), with some folks still waiting to receive their gear they ordered back in late Nov/early Dec. Pedals seem to be one of those items that have longer wait times - both for US and EU customers.

I ordered a throttle and adapter rails on Jan 3rd and only if I'm lucky will I get my stuff this week.

Might want to also consider some alternatives like MFG Crosswinds (I'm very happy with mine) or even VKB's rudder pedals (VKBs are only an option if you can live without toe-brakes).

At the very least, you should probably shoot Virpil support an email before you order and ask for expected waiting times for all the products you're considering. They do seem to receive shipments on a regular basis and their staff is working overtime - but that still doesn't seem to be enough at the moment... ?

EDIT: Just to put things into perspective: I just shot support another email, since I'd read that the part holding up my order had arrived last week and "only needed to be booked into their warehouse" ... and now, today, they're talking of additional delays/complications and that they hope to send out my order "early next week or the week after that" ?. Which would put me at over six weeks of waiting time ... *if* it does get sent out next week, that is.

?

For comparison: The guy who makes MFG pedals runs a one-man operation (more or less... AFAIK he's a furniture maker) and it took five or six days for my Crosswinds to get delivered from Croatia to Germany.

Mfg Crosswinds for the win in 2 weeks or less. :good:These are Superb Pedals, probably the best, but that is MHO. Get the damper also.

I have both MFG and Virpil. Virpil is more good looking, all metal, but MFG is more adjustable, cheaper and if you install the dumper kit it will work much better than Virpil. If I had to choose one, I would go with MFG.

- Good looks... hmm... that's a bit subjective plus it doesn't really bother me at all (I don't look under my desk when I fly :D)

- All metal... I was kinda concerned with this one before I bought, but the stuff MFGs are made from seems tough as nails. It also has its own benefits, like being lighter than steel (perhaps even lighter than aluminium?) and not feeling cold to the touch - so you can fly with socks or even barefoot.

- more adjustable: Not sure about "more" since I can't compare directly, but the Crosswinds are indeed *highly* adjustable. They're also very easy to work on because of the openness of their construction.

- cheaper: No argument there ... price was one of the reasons why I went MFG. Besides a *ton* of recommendations and glowing reviews for the MFGs from people I know.

- not sure the dampener makes things *that* much better. Don't get me wrong: I prefer the pedals with the dampener, but I think they're totally fine without it.

As mentioned: I can't compare them to any other current high end pedals, sadly, but after a little under a year of ownership and daily use, I don't see any need whatsoever to even think about getting other pedals.

Hello guys and maaany thanks for your replies and opinions about my question. ?

As metal workshop worker I prefer metal building, but is interesting your experience with MFG. In regards MFG I saw on they website but it seems rudder pedals are all out of stock ?

More, I asked to VRP if they customize on request the color of device, but they don't do that. I thought to repaint it in "distant blue" RAL5023, that I choice as my flightsim rig personal color. I think metal device is more modifiable for my purposes.

However I will looking for reviews about MFG, because you light me curiosity about these devices. I hadn't considered them for a future purchase until today....

Ciao!

I can't quite remember how it normally goes when they're out of stock, because by sheer luck, he had a set in stock when I was shopping. Considering he produces most of the components himself (or sources them locally), you shouldn't have to wait long if you ordered them while they're out of stock.

If you're interested in those pedals, I would just write him an email (he usually answers those within a day or two) and ask if you can pre-order and how long the wait time would be. Couldn't hurt to know and it will only cost you a few minutes of your time... :)

The MFGs work perfectly fine without the damper, I used them for years without it. The damper simply lessens the feeling of working against the centering spring tension and gives you a sense of driving the pedals like a real airplanes rudder pedals. I ordered the damper simply because it was cheap and I didn't see how it could make the feel and operation of the Crosswinds better. After testing the damper for months now I honestly think it does raise the bar for the MFG Crosswinds, but it is certainly not required. The Crosswinds are that good right out of the box. Nuff Said!

Edit: As a side note, if remember correctly, Milan, owner of MFG is a small plane pilot along with his brother and both like flight simulation, thus the desire to create a top notch quality rudder pedal. His Crosswinds gained an enthusiastic following very quickly and to this day I have never read a negative comment about Milan or a negative review of his MFG Crosswinds.

One thing I will say about the dampener is that, for my taste, it could do with one or two weaker settings underneath the current weakest one. I did have to set my spring quite a bit firmer than what I was used to or otherwise the pedals would've been "over-dampened". Other than that: It does take the "springiness" out of the pedals quite nicely and is a worthwhile upgrade - especially for the price. But, as you said, it's not mandatory as some MFG users claim... :)

No issues with this combination.

  • RSMapper don't see analog/digital axis.
  • Pedal axes don't need mapper.

So, no room for "conflicts". ;)

DIY damper installation in Virpil Ace Collection Pedals.

r/HotasDIY - Virpil ACE Flight pedals damper modification. Completely transforms the feel of the pedals, and makes them ready for helicopter flight. More details& link to original forum thread in comment.

Have had my MFG Crosswinds for a week (they took four days or so to arrive) and my only question is: why did I not do this before?

Will get the damper kit next. Milan is also very communicative.

So long, CH Pro pedals.

And I LOVE the Bf 109 pedals!

I have virpil pedals without toe brake and mgf. Mgf is one of the first he made.
but for me Virpil is the better one because I fly choppers. I might put a damper on my Mgf and see.
anyway I got virpil throttle, pedals and stick with 10 cm extention I probably sell soon.
none of it is really what I can use on my new pit.

I have the Crosswinds and I am very happy with them.  These are the only pedals that I have owned, so I cannot compare to anything else.  However, they are very well made and will not disappoint--perfect value proposition.

Yeah I always Get that wrong. I don’t bother doing anything before I fused two simpits to one.
I don’t like the cm 3 throttle because I never remember what all the buttons are for. It just annoy me all these 4 hat switches

Milan (the guy's name) Flight Gear ... easy to remember... :P

I would imagine that you'd simply have to put on the dampener and then take off the main-spring for helicopter duty. Alternatively you could probably set the spring's pre-tension to super-light or spend €4 on the "light" main-spring he sells.

@Marvel

Also, to get back to the original point about wait time:

A potential customer has posted VPC's response to that question he got a couple of days ago and they told him he should currently expect around seven weeks from placing the order to receiving his stuff. Not sure what he was interested in and it does seem to affect some products more than others, but from what I can tell from my own wait time and that of other folks, this doesn't seem unrealistic at the moment.

Plus there's still a ton of orders in the queue - supposedly my order is all allocated now, but since there are so many folks who've had to wait even longer than me, they won't dispatch my order until those in front of me in the queue have been sent out.

Hi guys, well, few days ago I wrote to Milan because rudder pedals wasn't available and he said they have a lot of orders and to monitor the webshop to check for items new availability.

Meanwhile I collect money for the purchase ?

They are definitely worth the wait. ?? I added the P-51 pedals and damper to my set and am really happy with the results.

Pretty sure he has a "notify me when this item comes back into stock" button in his store.
