czech693 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 What the heck is this on the back of the P-51 props?
Gambit21 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I’m guessing the gunsight bore-site point, and camera bore-site points. …for alignment purposes. 1
czech693 Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Yeah, I figured that. But is that for real? I've never seen it before.
AndyJWest Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Makes sense. You need some sort of datum to align everything to when setting up the guns, gunsight sight and camera, and the prop shaft should hopefully be in a fairly consistent alignment with the rest of the aircraft.

czech693 Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Well, it's real. It's not for the guns. It's to align the gun camera and gunsight up. I found this: https://www.heraldnet.com/life/lining-up-the-p-51-mustangs-gun-sight-and-camera/ 1
spreckair Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 But what is really cool is that the devs found this and included it in the sim; that is real attention to detail and realism. IL-2 is really cool.
Oyster_KAI Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) Glory to @Danziger? She provided me with enhanced textures for the MIG-3 cockpit and P-51 propellers in mid-2020, which were finally integrated into version V4.505 on December 29th. Edited January 16, 2023 by Oyster_KAI 1 1
