Promo codes? 80 % off

I got one for tank crew premium. 
Are we allowed to give it away? 
I know it was a discussion about it. But cannot remember the conclusion. 
I have no use for mine, I figure someone here might have use for it with the upcoming Holliday

When I was at check out last night I had the option to buy for self or as a gift. So there is that. However, the announcement made it seem like the code itself is personalized and based on your previous purchase?

 

It seems the way the promo works is you buy the entire Premium version regardless of having the original EA or Standard version (or any Collector Vehicles), and the discount is applied to the full purchase price of Premium, not the current sale price. My upgrade came out to almost the cost of one of the new Collector Tanks (if not on discount) whereas if I had bought Premium as a discount a few weeks ago at the sale prices offered then, it would have been equivalent to buying both new Collector Tanks at their sale price at that time and getting the AA trucks for free.

I already had TC from the original launch but applied the new code and gained the two new tanks Churchill and Stug as essentially two for the price of one as I had all the other stuff. It all depends what you already had really as to how good the discount works out.

 

The promo is actually given to those of us who bought into early access back then so not sure if it can be passed on or not even as a gift, maybe yes, but you will be buying someone that Premiun addition so you yourself will not benefit unless you had already intended to make someone a gift to start with. It would help if they had actually said one way or another as it is a little ambiguous because if you apply it as a gift and it cannot be used for that then you lose out.

 

Normally I don't use the codes because I used to buy whatever came out in pre-order whether I wanted it or not, sort of save for when I might want to try it out, however, in recent years I have not had the cash so I only bought the C-47 and IAR because I primarily play WWII aircraft on the rare occasions I fly now so this allowed me to at least pick up the two vehicles I could not previously afford, a Christmas present to self.

 

Anyway for me it works out because I wanted the Churchill all along but had more pressing needs for my finance so thanks to the team for the promo code, really appreciated.

Stupid me forgot about that code completely, so I bought them at the regular price. I know, it sucks to be me. ?

And being unable to give it away, so a less stupid person can use it on TC or tanks, makes it hurt even more...

Absolutely not tempted by this - no interest or use to me, whatsoever. Haven't touched Tank Crew for well over a year, apart from trying out the AAA trucks - once.

1C aren't getting any of my money for the foreseeable future anyway. Something major has to change before that happens.

I bought Tank crew pre order in order to fund what I thought would be a PTO build. Never used tank crew. 
If allowed and possible I can give you the code and you get 80%. But only if I am allowed. I have been banned so many times but never for fraud , and I would not have that

Wait five years for the Premium Version to be created. Wonder why the new Premium version includes $100 worth of additional Collector Vehicles for only $10 more than the Standard version. Find a special code in your account. Notice that code is only valid during the Winter Sale, when Tank Crew Premium is already discounted down to $30.59. Purchase Tank Crew Premium. Enter promo code at checkout. Pay $18+ dollars for the additional "Premium" content that you don't already own.

 

Or, just buy the Tank Crew Premium pack now while it is on sale. The current discount for newcomers is by far the best deal ever offered in Tank Crew and its associated Collector Vehicle history.

Ok, I know this is not unusual when dealing with this company but this is really feeling insulting.

 

Prima facie it looks like 1c is giving those of us who purchased Tank Crew in early access a break as a thank us for supporting them by giving us a deal on the four collector vehs. Very nice.

 

So to get the four collector vehs I have to purchase the premium edition which is $30.59 right now, apply the 80% discount code and it comes to $22.49 (which is actually only 75% off of the full list price), oh well, it's off the list price not the sale price, easy come easy go. 

 

But wait, if my friend who didn't support early access decided to purchase now he would pay $27.19 for the same version I paid $79.99, a third of what I paid and get the same tanks I have, ok fair enough, sales happen and I had the chance to use it when he didn't (except he always rode in my tank, just couldn't drive) so what if he paid a third what it cost me. Now he also decided to purchase the four collector vehs even though like me he only wants one of them and he gets the premium edition for $30.59, a no brainer. The delta between the premium and standard edition is $3.40! 

 

So in summary, for those of us were early adopters who's "support came when it mattered the most." 1c are going to reward us with "a small Christmas gift, we would like to give the early adopters an one-time offer for Tank Crew Premium." by charging us only $22.49 for the four collector vehs vs $3.40 that they are going to charge a newcomer who didn't buy it in early access when "your support came when it mattered the most." In other words they are going to charge us 7x more than a newcomer as a thank you.  I know that some of us are a bit dim and some blindly supportive but this is a bit hard to swallow.

I must admit that I was excited to hear 70%-80% off only to discover that, having bought three out of the four collector vehicles the coupon would end up being 225% over the price I'd pay if I just bought the last collector vehicle separately. I did notice the difference between the $3.40 and what I was paying. That said - it is a great deal if one has only bought one of the collector vehicles (rather than three)

 

I'm personally glad that new purchasers are getting a good deal and that sales eventually reduce prices after a couple of years (especially as I realise people in some countries can't afford the same prices others can). So I'm not complaining about that.

 

I also understood that pre-ordering was supporting the devs and I was paying more than it would cost me if I waited.

 

I think the mistake here was quoting 70% off or 80% off when the reality was that - for some of us who pre-ordered - the offer was actually 225% more than just buying everything separately. That little bit of accidental misrepresentation didn't feel great. Quite disappointing actually.

 

That said, I'm sure it was accidental and there was no intention to trick me into paying more than twice as much.

Yankee_One, if you already have Tank Crew and the four Collector Vehicles there is no point. Remember that the Collector Vehicles were never part of the TC EA. If you have them, you bought them before the Premium Edition was created in November. All the Promo Code ("gift") does is give pre-Premium customers a chance to upgrade to the Premium content level without having to buy all or remaining CVs individually.

 

It works out for some. Even buying Premium on sale without the promo is a small savings for some people. But this brings upgrade pice down to a more reasonable level.

 

I think the fairest thing to do would have been to offer true EA supporters (those who purchased TC before official release) personal codes for all of the Collector Vehicles at no additional charge. I know this was a tricky request for the marketing department to navigate but it does feel like they gave it the wrong spin or hoped we don't math well. That said, I wasn't interested in the CVs even at the sale price until I got my code so in that regard their marketing ploy worked.

There is a point if you've bought none of the collector vehicles (or only one of them). If you've bought two then it is marginal (and might be a saving depending on which collector vehicles you want). If you've bought three or more collector vehicles then it actually costs more to upgrade (with no benefit - other than possibly a forum tag).

 

So they were thinking about people who pre-ordered Tank Crew but didn't get any collector vehicles (or only got one collector vehicle) when they designed this deal. It didn't occur them that some of us have two or more collector vehicles.

I'm in the same boat. I preordered TC standard, because there was no premium version back then. Then I got all the released tanks as they came. Now I get a promo code that can't be used for anything else and it's worthless for me.

 They really didn't put too much thought into this promo code.

 The more you buy the less discount you get,  and those who already bought everything get nothing.....

 

Way to go.

 

They should implement a discount point system like in DCS. Points add up and you can then use them towards something that you may actually want, instead of this locked promo codes, that you can't use.

I suspect from the odd way the announcement was worded that there was originally a different proposal that was more of a 'good faith' gesture to the true EA customers but that it got swatted down by a higher level of management and the 80% code was the compromise. I prefer to believe that because it is a relatable scenario.

Exactly. A promo code to buy stuff, you own already. ? That´s a stupid idea.

Or is it? You supported the team already by ordering titles, vehicles and campaigns from the shop? Excellent, you´re a great guy, thank you very much!

And now, if you´re still able and willing to support the series, you can buy all the TC thingies for a laughable price, thanks to the promo code and give it away, making someone else very, very happy. Isn´t that great for Christmas??

Thanks for this post, didn't realise I had a promo code until read this post.

 

Upgraded tank battle to premium & got in effect, the Churchill & Stug for the price of one ? as already owned the 2 AA trucks.
