SCG_Limboski Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 I have several cameras in my mission and I would like to send a message to the player indicating the camera's coordinates as they are cycled through with the F12 key. Is there anyway to accomplish this? You can assign an MCU target from the camera operator translator but it appears to be nonfunctional (as indicated in the mission making manual). There is also an on event table function "OnCameraCompleted" in the advanced properties menu but it too seems unfunctional as far as I can tell. Is there more complete documentation on the camera operator? It has a bunch of features that are not documented in the manual. For example, what's the difference between the different camera operator types such as "default" and "free?"
SCG_Limboski Posted December 23, 2022 Author Posted December 23, 2022 Okay...I take it that "no" is the answer to my main question.
JimTM Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) @SCG_Limbo I don't think that your "message from camera operator" idea is possible. When I wrote the manual, I did extensive testing on the camera operator and found that a lot of the functionality did not seem to work (for me anyway). However, here are some links to camera operator posts that may or may not help you: Also, the Fritz's Life campaign, mission 1 has a moving camera (e.g., MCU is CP 1 (id:156)) at the start. Hopefully, the camera effect is still there and the MCU id has not changed. Here are some notes I made when I tested back in 2016. Take them with a large grain of salt. Notes on Camera Operator Translator.txt Hope that helps. Edited December 23, 2022 by JimTM 1
SCG_Limboski Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 I really appreciate you taking the time to provide this information, Jim. I'll definitely take a close look at everything and at the very least I'll learn more about different editor functions.
