Wardog, honestly, thank you for listening to the community and getting the right people at 1CGS involved in making this happen. As someone who was marginally involved (and not at all with data collection), I do know just how much effort was put into the research and compilation of the data by the community members who got this to you. It dwarfs and puts to shame any of the posting I've ever done on the topic of the N28 maneuverability (but hey, just in case, here it is).

 

If the results are as promising as what I've been led to believe, these DM fixes may very well save FC multiplayer from an untimely death, and I think is enough repayment for the hours those people sunk into this effort. I know that it's not possible to "win" at this sim, unless we're talking about nursing a streak in a SPAD to over 100, but in my opinion they've earned FC's highest possible accolade.

 

P.S. Also unrelated but here goes anyway: Ypres is on the map now, I demand respectfully request the Hanriot HD.1 be added to the roster.

Thanks, but I can't take any credit for that. Regingrave and his team are the stars of the show. Along with the dedicated core of FC players that gathered the data and wouldn't let it fade away.  All I did was make some inquiries as to where things were at.

Flying Circus is back!

 

Fights last night were incredible and back to when the game first launched. Such fantastic news. Thank you to all those involved in this update.

Dude, three of us scrapped in Dvas and SPADs down several thousand feet, snap rolling and diving exchanging hits on wings all the way down. It was the most intense and fun fight I have had in 3 years. Most of the kills I saw last night were ppl who were PKd or flamed / lost their engines, in line with Hotlead’s historical report.

 

The game now rewards still and aim, not a lucky wing hit.

New maps are in the works. The fine gents at IRFC are on it. The special event they ran last month was superb with the server maxing out!

What happened last night was completely unhistorical. For one, 1PL_Husar wasn't flying in 1918. Bug report submitted.

More than that! I dived steeply on a Spad with a pretty shot up Albatros and it kept his wings! What was I thinking?

I do have a question about the fires.

 

A few months ago, I set a Dr.I's engine on fire. Watched him pull straight up and he exploded a moment later. Any time I saw a plane light on fire, it went kaboom within a few seconds.

 

Then after the damage model update that broke the wings, I actually started seeing MORE fires, but would then watch them fly around for several minutes blazing like a Ronson before a wing snapped off. I stopped seeing planes esplode after being lit up.

 

I haven't tried the latest patch, but was something changed with how fire was modeled?

Fires are still dodgy. Simple for a human pilot to extinguish. 

It needs to be addressed and bug reports have been made.  Actually I should say,  it was addressed a couple of updates ago for WW2, but whatever changes they made had NO effect on Flying Circus.

 

@US103_Rummellis spot on. FC is legit back.

 

@J5_Klugermann time to lose the Dr1.  It made you butt look big anyway ?

From statistical point of view, during late war when fires were common , possible to greater use of incendiary ammunition. In the game we don't have that. We also don't have now incrised risk of catching fire when there is fuel leakage or vapor explosion in gas tank.
I don't see any explosion as use to be after a while . No ammunition explosion, no fuel tank fires nither tank explsion. Fire from engine do not propagate to fuel tank, ammuniton. 
I miss than dynamic in current FC build.

I need a big butt to absorb all of those big rounds that you fire.  Baeumer forbade me to fly the best German planes cause he was afraid I would empty the servers.

Hoping FC2 gets on steam soon id rather buy it there just cause I’m ocd ?
