jollyjack Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Was trying to 'organize' a mid air crash. Could not get it to work; any ideas? PS Normandy map needed.MidAirCrash v1.zip
Gambit21 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 The AI has collision avoidance logic, so no, orchestrating a mid-air collision isn't a smart thing to put your time into. No need to look at your mission.
Beefs2 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Either I have a great ability to fly just the correct line or AI does intentionally ram on occasion. I'm no expert about how the AI works though.

I guess it can't really be confirmed but, if there actually is an option coded for the AI to intentionally ram... perhaps there's a way to reliably 'force' the choice? It's a long shot I know but, I thought it might be helpful to jollyjack.

Stonehouse Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 There is a collision time threshold which is held against each skill level. Stock value is same across the skills. I theorise that it gives the AI a cue to begin avoidance move logic when it's x secs away from collision. No confirmation really of this though. Typically, during testing AI Gunnery, I observed collisions take place because of one or both aircraft taking hits and the result of that hit led to a collision. eg of type of thing I mean damage to a wing or control surface changing the flight path of the damaged aircraft/preventing avoidance move, attacking an aircraft at close range and the attacked aircraft sheds debris which causes a collision, Impulse of rounds hitting on a target causing a change in flight path during a head on attack leading to collision. I did not see any ramming or apparent 'planned' collision.
moustache Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 can be looked for on the AI side and the way it is handled in TC, collisions between object or AI are frequent... 1
Jaegermeister Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 @jollyjack Simple solution, just remove their avoidance logic... Spoiler Revised file below MidAirCrash_v2.zip 1
jollyjack Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 I'd call that clever, not simple LoL. Still try to comprehend how it works; thanks. Some Pacific Kamikaze ship attack Idea?
