Koenigstiger Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Nice work - but it doesn't fit - the original is a Tiger I Mid - but here it comes as a Tiger I Early ! Shame about the work! 1

JV44HeinzBar Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 S! Flowbee, Your work has always been an inspiration to me. I've tried very hard in the past to get my skins to look weathered and abused, but I have yet to even come close to mimicking your fine work. I especially like the paint chipping along the skirts in the last pic which exposes the parquerizing below. Just out of curiosity, what paint palette are you using? RAL or something else? Just a small request, can you put all your fine skins up on Haluter's Skin Downloader (HSD)? If it's too much trouble, I would be happy to upload the skin to HSD for you. This caliber of work should be shared for all to enjoy. HB 1 2
SR603-Flowbee Posted October 29, 2022 Author Posted October 29, 2022 Thanks for the positive comments. The only reason I share my skins is that there may be someone other than myself who might also like them. I think the best pieces of work that I really liked and took in the region of 100+ hours each got 5 likes. This one on the other hand is mainly based on the excellent supplied template. Most of the effort went into the alpha layer as I still haven’t nailed the look that I am trying for with regards to weathering. In terms of realism any shiny metal showing through would be quickly covered up to hide reflections. The paint palette that I use is the one included in the templates by ICDP. It is a brilliant collection. The actual colours are usually a by product of the weathering just as in real life. On b/w photographs grey German tanks would look yellow because of dust for instance. From an article that I just read with regard to RAL colours and how museum exhibits are usually wrongly painted. Not my words. I use the ICDP’s colour chart collection then adjust the tone to match the model that I am trying to represent. Flat colour choices do not look very realistic. I included my skins and links in Jason’s post for skins that was abandoned but has been left pinned. I don’t mind if they are put on HSD. It is nice to see them pop up here and there on you tube. 8
Boomerang Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I love your work Flowbee, thanks for sharing. 1
SR603-Flowbee Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 Building on previous skin, the semi-historical skin I am now working on, is inspired by a B/W photo of a Tiger in Kharkov. My 'unknown' tank is depicted as being a stablemate of Tiger tank number 812 named Tiki. I am leaving the turrent markings off so you can add your own. The problem is that what I see in 3D with grey green filtered glasses on and what it looks like in 2D are quite different. I might try creating two versions and then get some feedback on which works best from those interested. The back end still needs some attention but it is looking good on my setup. I want the tank to tell a story of surviving in the field, battle damage and crude overpainting using what paint could be found. The original template for this one is really good it is just a case of bringing out the detail. I hope someone likes it. If you use 3DVision then I am sure you will like it. Anyone still have 3DVision ? 8
SR603-Flowbee Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) OK for those still aboard I have made an SS Das Reich Tiger without turret markings so that you can use your own. This time I made two versions as I realised that what I see with 3D glasses on - and off in 2D - are quite different. Any feedback on which of the two works best for you would be useful for any future skins I might do. I've labelled the 2D version desat -20 for reference. https://mega.nz/file/9hFRBBTS#0L_5a0mjyOzbg_fnCLctRuO52bnd8g7mu8Gpw_LBwVU (saturation 100%) https://mega.nz/file/QsVVQSID#dAhCh76dCBUGWJcui_pVzUMTLU40wic_WlX2ylH1hps (desaturated by -20%) Strangely enough the screenshots only show a minor difference while in game I notice quite a lot. Not sure how to explain that one. Anyway, I hope you check it out. Enjoy! https://mega.nz/file/9hFRBBTS#0L_5a0mjyOzbg_fnCLctRuO52bnd8g7mu8Gpw_LBwVU Edited November 21, 2022 by SR603-Flowbee 8 3
JV44HeinzBar Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Wow!! That skin is fantastic. Honestly, the difference is so subtle that I can't tell if one from another as it could be something as simple of the small variation in camera angle for the 1st 2 screenshots. If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't know the difference. I would be happy to use either. I'll try them in game later tonight. Thanks Flow. HB 1
SR603-Flowbee Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 On my iPad both pics look the same but in game they look quite different. I can’t explain how that is. Some kind of filtering perhaps that auto corrects?
HylaHyla Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Hi Flowbee. Just had a chance to try out the two versions. IMO they are both very good and I plan to use both. On my system I've got graphics cranked to max and I drove both versions into sun and shade during the game to compare. The 20% desaturated version appears a little more "sun-damaged" for those that like a tank that's been out in the field a long while. Personally I like a bit more colour so prefer the fully saturated. Both versions are beautifully done and thank you for all your hard work on these and all the others! I love the well-worn and old veteran look you give to these tanks. A fitting tribute to those who had to serve (and try to survive) in them. Thank you! 1
SR603-Flowbee Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 Thanks for the feedback.? I am glad that on your system there was little difference. I often wonder how my 3D green/grey glasses affect how I set up my screen which in turn then affects what I see in PS. 1
