Just an fyi for Skycat and MidMadMarine, a couple of official skins have made their way into vanilla career, so that should be less work, and less skins for you guys!

I'll have a look at the official ones, but since all the units are done for the mod already it doesn't change much. I will see about integrating the date changes for D-Day stripe removal and Soviet camo changes. I've been working on eastern front skins lately.

I've updated some of the downloads to incorporate the career changes that came with patch 5.107. The skinpacks and the migmadmarine skin configuration files are unchanged.

I intend to archive this thread soon and begin a new thread for what I consider Version 4 of this mod. The future version will limit the mod configurations to only two options:

1) Migmadmarine's skin configuration V5 which includes all of his Allied and Luftwaffe skins; and

2) A single version of my skin configuration file that combines my changes to the default career, my edits to the Allied skins megapack config files, and a new Luftwaffe skins pack and configuration by Boelcke. I'm playtesting this new version (including compatibility with the new missions in 5.107 patch) and so far it's looking really good.

To summarize, I'm discontinuing the 'default Luftwaffe' options for the migmadmarine and Skycat skin configurations; and I'm also discontinuing the PWCG Luftwaffe skins experiment. They will remain available in an unmaintained status within the opening post of this thread.

Large update to this thread. I decided not to start a new one.

Boelcke's BoBP Luftwaffe skins are now available. I combined his work with my own career changes mod/Allied skins configuration. I hope the first post is easy to understand.

Thanks for this mod Skycat its awesome.

Can you please check Boelcke's BoBP Luftwaffe skins.

In the Bf109G6AS folder all five skins are named   'Bf109G14AS_JGxx_Blank.dds'   (they are actually Bf109G6AS skins and show ok)

I'm not sure if this upsets your Config files or not. Should the files be renamed or left as is?

In the Bf109G14 folder two of the twelve skins are named   'Bf109G14AS_JGxx_Blank.dds'   but are actually Bf109G6AS skins and dont show correctly on the Bf109G14.

The "Bf109G14AS" skins in the Bf109G6AS folder is how Boelcke designed his skins and config file. As you noted, they appear correctly so I assume this was on purpose.

I'll take a look at the skins in the Bf109G14 folder. The Bf109G6 skins may be an error on my part. Thanks!

Unfortunately, Bf109G14AS_JG4_blank.dds and Bf109G14AS_JG11_blank.dds got into the Bf109G14 folder by mistake.

Fortunately, they are aren't needed at all for this mod so you can just delete them from the Bf109G14 folder.

Unfortunately, I accidently didn't include the Bf109G14_JG11_blank.dds texture in the skinpack, so it was missing from the Bf109G14 folder.

Fortunately, I found that texture on my hard drive, so here it is so you don't have to download the entire skins pack again:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/243u860bmy8xpcp/Missing_Bf109G14_skin_-_JG11_blank.zip/file

(The correct Bf109G14_JG4_blank.dds texture was included in the skin pack, so do not delete that from the Bf109G14 folder.)

I've updated the skin pack in the opening post to incorporate these changes. Thank you for catching this.

The skins named Bf109G14AS_xxxxx.dds are actually Bf109G-6AS with the correct paintings for the late war time frame Bf109G-14AS, as the game does not have a Bf109G-14AS.

Thanks for the explanation. Your skins are excellent! :salute:

The download for 231028b - BOBP mod Luftwaffe skins by Boekle is missing the Data folder before the Graphics folder.

Posted (edited)

Okay, thanks. I'll fix that today.

Update: The Boelcke skins link is now updated to include the Data folder. The download has the same content in the Graphics folder.

Is this mod and Normandy going to be updated with the new version?

Posted (edited)

Both mod packs should be compatible with the latest game version if you stick to the migmadmarine skin versions (Normandy and the first option for Bodenplatte). You'll only lose the glider missions if you use my career change versions for Bodenplatte.

I'll take a look and consider updating. I don't own the Waco glider or C-47 so I have no way to verify their career missions.

I'll have to probably add some lines to my configs to make sure the Wacos wear their right markings once I get back home.

Probably not. Looking at the files, the Waco glider isn't treated as a flyable aircraft on its own but as a C-47A mission type under Squadrons. There aren't any entries for the glider in the skin files, nor in the squadron-codes file. And the C-47A missions seem to reference specific default glider skins based on the time period. It's a vexing solution for skinners.

It shouldn't be too difficult to add in the new C-47 glider missions though into my career changes mod. I can have an update uploaded before this weekend.

Thank you both for maintaining this awesome and immersive mod.

Oh, wait, that is because Skycat hasn't updated the original post, the current config link is the one in the post above yours, from may 7th.

There will be a new one before long, as I am trying to get TA-152 skins into career, but have had no luck getting them to spawn.

Does the May 7 RAF skin pack supersede the February 25 skin pack?

Edit: Main post is updated.

10/28/2023: Bodenplatte Career Skins Mods Version 4.

Changes: Adds a Luftwaffe skin pack by Boelcke as an option. Version 4 of this mod is simplified to offer only two skins configuration paths; each combines both Allied and Luftwaffe skins. Earlier Bodenplatte Career Skins Mod v2 and v3 are archived in the third post of this thread for anyone who would rather have the default Luftwaffe skins or use the Historically Accurate Skins 4K by milktoast.

Option I: Allied Skins Megapack with Luftwaffe Skins by migmadmarine.

1) Required: BoBP Allied Skins Megapack - 3.85 GB. All of the Allied skins created by migmadmarine and Skycat for the Bodenplatte Career Skins mod are now in a centralized download. The folders are organized to merge directly into your game's Data folder. (Updated 9/19/2023)

 * Note: the source files are available as smaller downloads in the archive post further in this thread.

2) Required: Migmadmarine Luftwaffe skins - 1.9 GB. "Covers most/all of the fighter units, so 109s, 190s, 262, and 410, several with a few variations. Other aircraft types seem to be covered suitably by the defaults." (New 9/16/2023)

 *Note: the skins in this pack have swastikas.

3) Required: Migmadmarine's skins configuration v6 - Skin configuration authored by migmadmarine. Requires both skin packs linked above to work as designed. (New 5/7/2024)

4) Additional: Migmadmarine's Spitfire and RAF Mustang skins (New 5/7/2024)

5) Recommended: Add [Mod] Historically Accurate Skins 4K by milktoast as a base to replace all default Luftwaffe textures not covered by the migmadmarine skin pack.

*Note: the skins in this pack have swastikas.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Option II: Allied Skins Megapack, Luftwaffe Skins by Boelcke, and Career Changes by Skycat.
1) Required: BoBP Allied Skins Megapack - 3.85 GB. All of the Allied skins created by migmadmarine and Skycat for the Bodenplatte Career Skins mod are now in a centralized download. The folders are organized to merge directly into your game's Data folder. (Updated 9/19/2023)
Note: the source files are available as smaller downloads in the archive post further in this thread.
2) Required: BoBP Luftwaffe skins pack by Boelcke - 514 MB. This is a comprehensive Luftwaffe skins pack that combines new skins by Boelcke specifically for this mod with several blank skins he released in earlier skin packs. Curated by Skycat. (New 10/28/2023. Updated 10/28/2023 to add missing Bf109G14 texture for JG11.)
 *Note: the skins in this pack have swastikas.
3) Required: Skins configuration by Boelcke and Skycat with career changes by Skycat - Luftwaffe skins assignments authored by Boelcke. Allied skins assignments authored by migmadmarine and modified by Skycat. Includes edits to the career to remove P-47D-22s early in the campaign; and to allow two additional USAAF squadrons use the P-51B. I've also included the 'remove ordnance restrictions' file by Sevenless from his Extended Careers mod. Career missions comply with game version 5.201. Requires both skin packs linked above to work as designed. (Updated 01/17/2024 for game version 5.201)
4) Recommended: Add [Mod] Historically Accurate Skins 4K by milktoast as a base to replace all default Luftwaffe textures not covered by the Boelcke skin pack.
 *Note: the skins in this pack have swastikas.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Option III: Default Skins and Career Files

1) Default Career v.5.204b - Optional. Available to reset skins to the game's default if you already have a Bodenplatte career mod installed. Also useful as a reference for skinners and modders. This pack will restore all aircraft to their default liveries; overwrite squadron changes; and reset any ordnance restrictions. (Current as of 11/01/2024)

Is it possible to access the various SQN codes in custom missions in the Mission Editor? I want to use the blank skins and assign the correct squadrons for the scenario I am making. I have the blank skins but when I try to manually assign the codes they only show up as black which is not always the colour needed.

I don't know anything about the mission editor or how single missions are structured. This mod is specifically for the Rheinland career. Within this mod, you can change the color of tactical codes by editing the Squadron Codes files.

When you are in the editor, right click on the colour square for the tactical code position and you'll get the available colours to choose from.

The main post is updated:

- Link to migmadmarine's skin configuration is updated to active v7.

- Link to Boelcke, midmadmarine, and Skycat combined skins configuration is updated for game v5.504's new mission types.

@migmadmarine just FYI I've run into a few skins that don't load properly, both in this Bodenplatte pack and in your Normandy pack, and it looks like there are some "skin=" references in your config files that don't have the .dds file extension. I added them manually and it allowed the correct skins to load as expected.

You can find these bad references by opening your config files in a text editor that supports regex (like VS Code), and searching for the following expression:

skin=".+(?<!dds)"

(in plain English, that should find every "skin" line that is not empty (e.g. skin="") but that also does not end in "dds")

Thanks for the tip, troubleshooting these has always been a challenge, so that expression is good to know. I know there were some P-38 units I'd forgotten the file extension on, don't remember if I uploaded that fix.
