I'm not yet sure how common this is, but I watched these two collide in this AQMB mission within about 30s of starting. I restarted the mission and the same thing occurred, so this may be reproducible. Mission file attached.

I've been finding this in my Spitfire career, on any given mission up to half my squadron will collide with each other, just find their planes, engines stopped, falling out of the sky

They way they're literally flying wing to wing makes me suspect something @Regingrave.

The other day on a mission I made, I was somehow assigned the *same* formation slot as one of the AI (no. 2 slot in a 4-plane V formation). This resulted in my plane and the AI continuously flying towards each other (the target position in the formation) and when almost colliding, suddenly breaking off, only to start flying towards each other again.

The same thing happened for two aircraft in a second flight. These were somehow not able to avoid collision, and pretty reliably crashed a short while after takeoff.

I'm not sure how this is even possible; the formation slots should be uniquely assigned. On the other hand, this was a user mission rather than a generated one.

With AQMB there are several mission templates that result in AIs spawning at the exact same location and proceeding to collide once they get untangled (the collision detection doesn't kick in while they are clipping). I reported one or two of these cases previously and attached the relevant generated mission.

EDIT

For example:

I've since encountered it with other AQMB locations that always do this for certain missions.
