But if you don't translate its intentions at the time you write it, you'll probably know what happens when you return to it.  If you're not the one that wrote it in the first place, it can be easier just to start again.

Most comments are usually some variation of "Don't touch this with asking Bob first" (Bob passed away seven years ago) "No I don't know why this works either" or "coffee need more" with the occasional snippet of what may actually be code but nobody knows what it does. 

 

Also, there is one extremely angry rant at compiler programmers for the exact one bug in the entire project caused by a compiler error, and the two months that it took for the programers to figure out that somehow the compiler had turned that specific If statement into a 4 cycle For loop.
