Normandy Early vs Late, has someone done some comparing?  And what's really the difference?

Well, again, FYI, all four maps are available in the following folder in Mega:

In the above on-line shared folder you'll find:

 

a) The "work in progress" version as it was in 2019 (2626 x 1720 px)

b) The "work in progress" version as it was in 2020 (1916 x 2149 px)

c) The 2022 full size final version of Normandy "pre-invasion" (16064 x 17902 px)

d) The 2022 full size final version of Normandy "post-invasion" (16064 x 17902 px)

 

 

Pay careful attention to the airfields, you should find some visible differences. I may be wrong but I think that the post-invation map presents more airfields in the Caen area and in the Cotentin peninsula as well.

Historically speaking (so not game-wise), did the Allies build a lot of new airstrips in liberated France, or they pretty much just repaired airfields taken from the LW?

There are also a few German radars on the earlier map along the coast that are not there on the Summer map.

Those maps on MEGA are very elementary; on some you cannot even read the town names ...

You can read the places names on all of them: there are two WIP maps (now obsolete, one is from 2019 and the other one from 2020) and the two official released maps, pre-invasion and post-invasion. Those two latter are full size, so you'll need to zoom on them if you want to read the site names.
