Ha, I was coming here to ask the same. Normandy was released but not much to do. The V1 bombing missions take ages to overfly the channel - the harbors are deserted, no ships, most enemy airports are empty... without missions there isn't too much to do in career mode.

Some custom missions for the Normandy campaign would be much appreciated!

I began a campaign with RAF Fighter Squadron 51 "Nigeria" flying a Spitfire MK XIV, choosing to start in April 1944 (as early as possible) to help the Allies prepare for the invasion.

For five days we were sent off chasing a recon plane at 20.000 feet over England, a BF-109 G6 Late that I could barely keep up with at full throttle.  I'm new to all of this, so if there are any aces reading please cut me some slack.  Just as I was upon him and about to shoot, the lead plane (which was behind me) suddenly jumped forward and bagged the enemy!  And then, after I was finally able to take one down myself in the fifth mission, I shifted to autopilot to make sure I didn't screw up my landing.  Lo and behold, ground control kept calling me off, telling me the runway was busy, until my hapless pilot ran out of fuel and crashed into a group of trees!

Here's a new one for ya Blitzen. Down under Normandy Missions.

Enjoy the scenery.

Tips Random Works Missions

Downloading now & thanks! This mission is really something and in it’s way better than any other mission I’ve flown since the debut of the Normandy map.It really demonstrates the potential of the new update: it has quite a few ships, landing craft unloading, Tanks in action by both sides, Sherman’s climbing the bluffs above Omaha Beach (?) and German Marters offering a feeble defense, but the coup d’gras was at least one V-1 I saw falling near the invading force….!!! All this with plenty of targets for my Mustang & me, all from a close by airfield on the Cherbourg peninsula ( no looooong flight over the Channel!)

You did some nice work Tips-thanks!!!!

I have the same. Only Intercept single recon 109s at 20000 feet or Free Hunt. Enemys always spawn on the other side on the channel, so I only have fuel for one pass.

Maybe there will be more variety after D-Day...

Don´t get me wrong, but i think 1C should remove the

"-custom single player missions" tag

Advertising stuff in the Shop that´s not in the Game, is somewhat missleading.
Add the Missions, and only then, advertise it.
Underpromissing and overdelivering is allways better, than having something on the Box, that is not in the Game yet.

In every other module since Great Battles started, the "Scenario Missions" as they are named, are created and added in after the module is released.

Once the map has been made available, "someone" has to make typically 10 different missions on that map with the available plane set. It is impossible to do that before the map is released. The resources are not magically available for content creators before they are complete. I do not know if the Scenario Missions are in process for Battle of Normandy yet, but I am sure they will be soon. Expect to wait 3 or 4 months to have them written, tested, localized to 7 different languages, and then given to you, the consumer.

To add to what Jaeger said, the "release" is just an arbitrary "we have enough done to call it released" announcement. It is not an indication that development on the project is complete.

Give it time and there will be plenty of SP missions and campaigns officially and from the dedicated player/editor community.

IMO, the SP missions in the "Missions" category from the main screen are some of the most underrated combat sim experiences one can have in IL-2 BoX.  I honestly feel like they have put less and less effort into them with each BoX release.

When I first got BoS, one of the first things I did was go into "Missions" and selected an IL-2 ground attack at night mission.  Once the spotlights lit me up and my whole cockpit was blindingly bright, I was in awe, and was one of the most unforgettable sim experiences I'll ever remember.  I also always enjoyed playing the mission "Scramble" where you fly a Mig-3 and have to take off ASAP to intercept some Bf110 E-2s that are just minutes away from bombing your airfield.

In a perfect world, I'd have all the benefits of the campaign, missions, and scripted campaign all in one.

I wish we had some good multiplayer servers that would consider a night mission every once in a while.  Unfortunately I've been told that spotlights in multiplayer cause an unplayable amount of lag, as that was an excuse I've heard from a couple of server operators (Although there was a WW1 server I once played that was at night with spotlights, lots of AI, etc., and no lag).

The latest definition I have heard is when the map (or maps) and offline campaign is done

Thank you so much for that mission Tip! An immersive experience in flying one of the model kits I had as a kid. Couldn't have imagined it better lol!

Check German voice messages for me please. I've lost mine in this mission for some reason.

Comments on the new way to direct your section and sound issue are welcome.

Keep them coming...these missions are showing the potential of BoN like no others so far!?

Posted (edited)

When BoN was released I waited with the career mode to give them more time for optimization.

Since release I fly 1940  BoF / 1942 channel missions created   with Vanders EMG and I like them.

Short missions with action and to be flown without time acceleration in 20 - 30minutes from take off to land.

Hi Everybody,

I'm just putting the finishing touches on a Pierre Clostermann 'Big Show' mission over France 'First Successes' - circa June 1943. He is flying Spitfire IX's (wish we had IXb's) with 341 Squadron. On this mission Clostermann shoots down 2 x FW190's from JG2. USAAF B26 bombers bomb Le Havre as a diversion, with USAAF P51b's protecting them. Sadly fuel becomes critical, you can't stay too long over the target area. (we need some 45gal drop tanks).

I must thank 'Jaegermeister' for his help with this mission - I will get him to test it before it is posted. The mission graphically looks very good on the Normandy map and the JG2 Focke Wulfs are 'thick in the air'!
