People seem to be forgetting who did the attacking RE the wait to buy issue, some people simply said they will wait, which was swiftly followed by a flood of criticism......unless someone can link a post where anybody was attacked for deciding to pre-order.

Just for information I have pre-ordered the premium edition.

Doggles,  you are not alone, trust me on this.

Not one of the folks I still or used to fly with are pre ordering any flight sim ever again after the pasting we took over CloD.

This is not a reflection on this title, or any other.

It's just a fact of the times.  An entire community got burned, and burned badly on CloD, and as The Who so aptly put it, we won't get fooled again.

If after release and real reviews by real players of the finished product, BoS proves to be the real deal, I'll gladly plunk down my very hard earned money.

I love WW2 flight simulation, honestly. However the proof is in the pudding, the the pudding isn't done yet.

You are Very correct,  there are many things we didnt get to try, as they werent completed yet.  Im bummed that they werent done, but happy they didnt let us try half finished products.  Your sentiment seems to be prevalant among the cloders, asnd I cant blame you.  All I can really pass along as friendly advice is that CLOD should not be your yard stick for BoS.  RoF should be.   But to each their own mate!  Ill see you there eventually :salute:

$0 is being used to fund BOS. Very, very simple. Every dollar earned with ROF, goes to ROF.

Jason

OK. Lets pretend that is true. You know very well, that many mp folks from ROF purchased planes and mods they never fly and use just to support your team in hope you will fix most critical issues ( FM etc) in the sim. And what you did is work on BOS. Well, how do we know you wouldnt have the same approach for BOS....in some stage of development? Like I said earlier, I dont have a problem to pay and support your or anybody elses products of my interest as long as you have honest and truthfull approach. In fact I wouldnt mind if you told us what is really going on.....from the day one....at least i wouldnt snap. Like my father told me once. "Son. Whatever it is. Tell me the truth. I cant stand a lie." I know marketing and bussiness is always "2 truths and one lie". But is it worth at the end?

at the end BOS would be success only with honest approach after all the recent fiaskos in sim market....

'the possibility to earn 2 more aircrafts in the game (Yak-1 and Bf-109 G-2).'

Dont like the sound of this !!  so i dont get fly sorts in the G2 or Yak -1 of my choice ?

the first IL2  format was great, just needed an up grade.

Hope 777 does not wrack the game

So we will also need to buy each plane ?  hows that going to work on line ?

'great to see the Fw190a3 on a lighter note'

So if someone built a mission/campaign with the G2 as player aircraft and I have not yet unlocked it in the historical campaign I won't be able to play said player made mission/campaign either?

Do not call me a liar Tvrdi or imply that we are not truthful with our customers. All revenue from ROF go to making more planes and covering other usual expenses related to ROF development like bug fixes, servers, contractors etc. We did not take money from ROF to work on BOS. As I have stated many times money from 1C is funding BOS development.

Will Yak 1 be able to be unlock only in SP campaign, or its possible to unlock/earn it in MP, or in MP we will be able to fly it from start, and after we buy La5 will we have to unlock it also like Yak-1 or Bf-109G2 or we will be able to play with it from the instant we buy/download it?

Hi Jason.

Can you please give us a little more specific info? My biggest problem, that we don't know the exact level of the FM, DM, CEM and the MP features of BoS, because we don't get detailed info from the devs. I have read myself too, there are rumors (based on the russian forums), that the planes will use exactly same controls (non historical), there will be autopilot in every plane, and the help assistances (auto radiator, auto prop pitch, etc) will be not switchable in the server settings. With other words, the FM and the phisics (like in ROF) will be good, but the control and gameplay will be arcade. Can you (or LOFT) give us detailed info about the CEM, and the opportunities, what equipments will be able to handle by the pilots?

Thanks

I would like to see this question answered before pre-order BoS...  Accident has already been answered and I have not seen?

thanks

Premium purchased, from vacation, on a smart-cell phone. I have seen, and read enough.

Call me crazy, but I love CLoD too, now that it's fixed and patched. And can't wait to get back home to try the ultimate mod/game changer by Team Fusion. So I don't have any prejudices about any developer's past.

Back on BoS, will the theater cover summer and autumn too? I'm not a winter scenarios lover, and unless BoS's winter is going to be a nextgen wonder, I tend to find frozen lands extremely boring, a real turn-off for my personal taste.

Just very curious about the seasons thing, any info will be much appreciated!

can I suggest something gently...

lets not try to quantify an unknown number based on a known number...just because the number of people who bought in is known (to the developers) does not mean the number of people who have not done so is small

(and NO number of potential customers is EVER insignificant or worthy of dismissal.)

the people who support WWII flight simulation and who were burned by CloD is a largish number - some have made the distinction between that group of developers and this one - and some have not...or they feel so suckered

by that experience that it just doesnt matter -as I said before.

The good news is that - once they ALL see that this is a worthy effort and the BoS is successful - they will buy in. I think we all want this sim to be what others who have tested it or are building it have said it is, the NEW IL2

But please lets not chastise anyone for their choices - either to support it early...or to 'wait and see'

I bought the Standard offer - I will wait through the first round of live testing but still have early access and still be providing the fiscal support that 777 1CGS needs

That is my choice and I appreciate the opinions of those who will wait for the general release and reviews before they put forward any moneys...I would not want to be CloDed twice either...(understanding that this is NOT CloD)

If the mission builder opts for "extra planes" I wouldn't blame the game but the mission builder.

And being a mission builder I would say "go build your own mission".

Simple as that.

I would have an answer for that post, because i don't like unlocking game features.

Can someone from 777 can answer about the mail from the forum please (see my past message)?

Since I will probably never go online with the sim  it would be very nice if some sort of symbol could be applied to the sigs on this forum for us who bought the premium package.

Zorin I'll try to answer this one.

If this is based on the ROF ideal, then all aircraft in the game are modelled as if flyable.  They can also be placed in a mission and if you own the plane (bought or unlocked) then you can fly it.  If you do not own it then no you cannot fly it even though others can.

In brief - if there are only G2s and you do not own that plane then no you cannot use it.  If the whole campaign is based on a G2 then you cannot use that campaign.  But, if you want to play campaigns this suggests offline play and you may find that getting a G2 or Yak 1 is far easier than you think.  We will see.

As someone that makes missions I will always be putting in basic aircraft for those that do not have the bought or unlocked aircraft.  This is usually only for squad mates and I will of course be including a G2 or FW190 for me...

I`d like some clarification on the Yak 1 and the G2 please, in my opinion in online gameplay they should be available to everyone if they have to be earnt by playing offline that to me isn`t a smart move. So can someone who actually knows whats what say whether these 2 planes must be earnt offline to be used online or what is the deal with the earnt part of the equation.

Ps This place gets more like the banana everyday, people constantly second guessing, predicting doom and spouting off with little or no appreciation of what the devs are doing. I look at like this , when Neoqb released RoF the guys who had been beta testing it couldn`t believe it, it was only slightly better than the CloD release, Jason/777 take over and it improves to the point where it is today, a very polished product there`s all the track record you need. In the case of CloD there was no info for years then bang they`ve released , with BoS we`ve had almost weekly updates, lots of images and interviews etc etc what more do you expect them to do?????????????. As for the pay per plane, get used to it, the days of 20+ planes in a flight sim have long gone, life says you get what you pay for and if you can`t pay for it then thats just tough, try going into a Porsche dealership with enough money for a Lada and kicking off because you can`t have the Boxster.

What about the I-16?

They were nearly eliminated by German Forces during the Ukraine Campaign and the conflicts around boundary. After fail winter fight back sponsored by Staling, there were few I-16 serving in Red Army .

Apologies for the long post, but this forum has been interesting reading for me as I have only recently signed up. Let me explain why as it may be on point for some of you.

I am a member of a very well established Squadron/group of Squadrons that have been flying for 11 years now. I am one, like many who loved IL2 - it was the only thing that could drag me away from EAW and it completely revolutionised military flight simming, we flew it for many years flying various campaigns online, holding off on a Battle of Britain Campaign for the release of CLOD.

So we all pre-ordered CLOD to support 1C, many of us years before it was released, and got completely burned as so many did, the game was completely unplayable. TF have done an amazing job with it since, and as most of us can kind of run it now we are looking to try and finally use it for a campaign of sorts starting in September. It is still a cause for division of opinion in our group, and if I am honest we have lost some pilots because of it since its release.

So my approach to BOS was similar to many of those I have read here - never will I preorder anything again from these guys. We fly ROF as well and love it - but anything to do with 1C in any way - even if only one or two of the team were from 1C, was still tarnished for me - and I didnt trust it. Then I had an epiphany.....

The Flight Sim market is a niche, very small market, PC Gaming itself is far smaller than before and available proper historical Flight Sims are not a big money maker for devs and publishers as the fan base is relatively small. If I want my favourite type of game to continue being made I need to support those who take the risk to invest in creating them.

So I have pre-ordered the Premium Edition, while I understand fully those that want to wait, I would like to support the guys who take the risk on this genre and for some strange reason I feel relatively confident that this is not going to be another CLOD scenario - I am hoping we will be very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the product. The only dilemma will be how we will use BOS as a group of RAF Squadrons in a Campaign scenario  .

I have everything ROF released to date, but I waited about a year after release of ROF to buy it so that most problems were gone.

But I find it human and logical that there are people that purchased CLOD;  (like myself) very early on because of promises and trailers (and it turned out that the trailers and footage that were shown of CLOD were not representable of the finished game, like fe the release of aliens colonial marines not so long ago) and that CLOD never deliverd what was shown and promised (and for many people CLOD was even unplayable and a tech demo); that are wary and hesitant to preorder BOS.

Wouldn't it have been better for BOS pre sales to show potential customers a SP and MP trailer of fights with a large amount of planes and thus real ingame footage than a CGI trailer?

Also BOS is  a cooperation between 1C and 777, for me that says that soms devs will be from ROF what is good but that there will also be former CLOD devs working on BOS wich is a liability for BOS.

But I also find that pro or contra, If you buy it or not, if you preorder or not, if you buy it down the road or not, respect each other and each other decisions; there are already enough zealots in the world.

EDIT :

I know that flight sims are a niche in the PC games market (that's why I preorderd CLOD to support 1c) but that is/was not a reason to release an inferior product like CLOD. My point is that to *support a niche market* is for me no viable resaon to preorder anymore.

Dude, we are impatient for 2 years. This is how long we are waiting for another FM fix in ROF. And in the same time BOS was full speed.

Really? Are you absolutely certain that RoF funds were used for BoS development? Are you absolutely certain that BoS development was full speed for 2 years? I think many people would appreciate some kind of evidence to support your statements.

90 bucks is waaaay overboard for a beta we hardly kow anything about.

You can download ROF and see exactly the level of detil you'll be getting in FM, DM, etc...  The developers are using it as a basis and plugging in a WWII scenario and polishing a some of the legacy ROF features.  You can also corroborate this based on the press release footage.

Also from being built from rof, as seen on the videos, is really more actual, whit new engine improvements and really good looking Graphics, see footage from videos as said by Caveman, one image is better than 1000 words

Remember, you don't need to pay $90, you could just pay $45. Or nothing.

Nor do you have to do it right now, because, you can choose to spend your money in whatever way you choose to, and that's fine.

This thread is mainly for those who are hopeful for the game, are confident in what they have seen or heard from the developers, and are comfortable paying to access the game early. That's all this thread is for.

If you remain unconvinced, by all means read up on it,wait for user reviews to come in, take your time.

Posted

Reading through these last few pages you almost get the impression that 1C had been forcing people at gunpoint to cough up with 90$... - However, reliable sources are now telling me that everybody is actually free to pre-order or not. I would suggest that those who don't want to pre-order go out in the sun and enjoy a nice big cold beer. Just expect that you will have to pay for it :-)

Bearcat and myself are volunteers. There is no contract.

We volunteered because we liked the genre/the developed/the potential/ whatever and we wanted to make sure that the atmosphere here stayed healthier than in some other forums.

Given that, its fairly safe to assume that we are positively disposed towards the game and, as such, may attempt to create interest in it (especially at a time when there wasn't a lot else to talk about), and to try to counter-argue posts that have a negative opinion of the game.

That does not mean that criticism and differences of opinion are unwelcome, it is just what it is. However, as mods for a site provided by the developers, we are obviously not going to tolerate behaviour that creates an unpleasant atmosphere here, or that attacks the product groundlessly. Again, civil discussion, supported with evidence where relevant, is what we expect - whatever your opinion or preference may be.
