Sweet preorder attained!

The game we got to play was a very good demo. It displayed the FM fidelity and showcased the ground graphics. The bump mapping makes a huge difference from other now covered land scapes. We were able to see a lot of lighting demos which were really really cool. The reflections on the Lagg changed from tbe wood porions to the metal portions. All incredible.

As far as the game looking like the trailer. I can say models that were used In the video are the models used in game. I can't comment on the smoke as there wasn't a big battle to witness in the demo.

Ok, Premium and FW on the way!

I would like to know if the trailer comes close to the game as you have played it for 15 minutes.

Related to graphics quality like clouds, groundtextures, the lighting on planes, explosions, smoke. Anything.

And you've seen, while you were playing or when someone else did, things like soldiers running away from their trucks while being strafted like in the trailer? And some pilot animation?

Of course the sim doesn't have the look of the trailer. It is a theatrical trailer. It is CGI rendered frame by frame.

HerrMurf and Hooves, any more tidbits would be highly appreciated. How was the feeling of flight, compared to the sims we know? Good feel of inertia?

Hurra!

Also purchased the Premium edition....

This is getting more and more interesting.

And if at least some synergies take effect on my beloved RoF, the World is more than in an

perfect state for me!

It had an incredible feeling of weight, and the feeling that you were carving through the air.

At first when I got in there, I was yankin and bankin and I was all over the place!  I couldnt keep the nose on the target because I was flying it like a war thunder bird.  Once I concentrated on keeping airpspeed and making those smooth inputs, I was MUCH more effective.

We didn' t have track IR so looking around was done via the mouse or hat switch.  I got a little Spacial D fighting a Lagg and got close to the ground in a steep dive.  When I yanked back on the stick to pull out, the plane plowed through the air at an extremely high AOA and then promptly stalled, and I snapped my tail off on the ground (then the rest of my plane came apart).  It really felt like the plane was fighting against the air to pull up.  That was a very realistic feeling.

Wow.

Very well done. Jason, please extend a thank you to your team. The game teaser trailer looks amazing. I can't wait to fly it...have my pre-purchase already.

I dunno - Sturmovik tailgunners' exhale steam seems over modeled - wouldn't the rush of air past the cockpit simply have whipped that breath away leaving no time for

steam condensation to occur??!

I refuse to buy such shoddy, unrealistic work - lol

I can't stop watching the vid people - help me - Im supposed to be at work by now lol

yes I know its a promo with post effect edits - even so - it looks F'n SWEET to me

Hey guys,

First, glad you guys like the pre-order and are jumping on board. I think the program we have announced is a win-win for everyone and gets our most dedicated users in the cockpit sooner rather than later. Second, the screens are from the press-kit which was meant for the press publications, not you guys specifically. More screens and videos in the coming weeks and months for sure. The event at the USS Hornet was a lot of fun and a lot of work. A great group of guys from our community got to attend and we had a blast. I'll let them tell their own stories. We're all working our way back home now so I'm sure there will be much more to say when we all get back to our usual computers.

The build that was shown at the event was an early Alpha. MANY features are not final, nor were the effects, nor did it contain all final content. We are making rapid progress though as seen by those at the event. For those that did get to fly it, they can tell you this is not an arcade title and as every bit as hardcore as we promised. Don't let rumors and agendas prevent you from flying over Stalingrad. Help us help you by joining the fight!

I also see a lot of comments that need a response, but I just don't have the time at the moment. When I'm back home I can try to address.

More soon...

There will be a slip stream of air around the glass basically leaving relatively undisturbed air behind the cockpit glass where the rear gunner is sitting. I recently took a B-17G ride and experienced that very effect, as they had removed the upper glass near the radio/nav compartment, and you could stick your hear outside the aircraft where it was relatively calm. Was a very awesome experience.

Now it looks like he MIGHT be outside that bubble....but I don't have a wind tunnel to test it.. :)

Hi guys, my view and feeling on the sim is one of, this is what we wanted from (clod).

The first aircraft I flew was the Lagg3 on a high end system with a amd7970 i believe it was. The HOTAS warthog, and some of you guys know i don't like that heavy metal, makes my arm and wrist tired. As far as FPS very smooth this demo was on a pre alpha not fully representing of the game. Flight model is by far the best it didnt take 5 minutes to be able to fly. I can see the reciticle on the gun site very well done, shooting was stable, damage model very well done, when i took the 109s engine out i could see i had taken his engine and slowly watch the water and steam effects come from the coweling. Very believable. The ai pilot poped his canopy and the leaped up and out, the parachute deployement is and by far the best i have seen very dynamic and not animated, very interactive with the sims engine.

Because this prealpha there wasnt much particle effects but thats coming. The lighting and shadow very good, you guys the lod is amazing if your at 10,000 feet you can make out the groundvehicles.

Sorry but the team has budgetary and time constraints, no infantry running from vehicles. Stated maybe in the future, if money and resources permit. I have to say guys the 1CgamesStudios team is like us hard core flight simmers, they want what we want, and they are very passionate for IL2: and if this sim does well under this team we are going to return to the huge battles we had before from the originale release 11 years ago. I for one will be flying this exclusive. And yes no porked bf109s we fly what we fly so the russian side is going to definiatly need team work! The il2 is going to be exactly what it was a flying tank.

Yes I have a lot of cam footage that I took, that while not as good as straight up rendered video, so show a lot of answers to questions that many community members have asked about some of the "systems" in the game.  Again like Jason said many were not final, but we got a VERY good idea of the direction of the new title, and I promise you will not be disappointed!   Im still up here in Oakland with a later flight and then a drive rom San Diego all the way back home (2 hours). As far as I could tell I was the only video camera actively getting footage so I will try and get those best vids up ASAP!

but yeah we had a blast.  And the Ghost tour was legit!

Ok dear Studios,  You both have my money,  now I'm waiting for the continuation of original IL2 Sturmovik.

Hooves and others who chimed in with first-hand experiences, thanks a lot! - Can't wait to see that shaky badly-focused grainy handheld footage Hooves, thanks for uploading when you get home and get around to it!

PS, Pretty cool of the developers to send the topless photos of the booth babe to us who pre-ordered, much appreciated  ;)

I'll consider buying it after I make sure the game is not a repeat of CoD and that German aircrafts will not get nerfed in one of the game's future updates. Considering how German aircrafts (especially the new overheat system and the new FM of Fw-190) were treated since TD's takeover, I highly doubt it that BoS won't become another game highly biased towards Russian aircrafts.

1. The game has nothing to do with CloD.

2. TD has nothing to do with BoS.

Yes, it does. I can't say more than that, due to me being under NDA.

Suffice it to say, this is the successor to the original IL2.

Well, I may be a sucker, but I've pre-ordered anyway. I still feel conned by the Channel Map for RoF and it's total lack of content and it's sloping water, so I really hope this release will rekindle some faith in the Devs. You have my money, so please make it good. Thx.

Curious as to why you felt conned about the Channel Map in RoF, are  you saying that because of the delay in integrating the career mode?

If so, I think 'conned' is a little harsh, I mean if they never implemented it at all and just dropped it, sure, but they did eventually so there's plenty to do now on that map.

I pre-ordered too and while anytime you do that it's a bit of risk, based on everything we've seen so far I bet our faith hasn't been misplaced.

All the best of luck so that it becomes the successful project i think it will be.

A BIG question: Did the devs confirm that everything thats shown in the promotional video is show is ingame? OR is there some renderworks and touchups donw?

Because IF thats ingame i am TOTALLY blown away!

Just pre odered the Premium Edition.  Looking forward to this sim,  Like Heywoood posted I also built a new rig last year, just hope another one is not in the mix for this title.

So, the way the announcement was worded makes it seem like unless you pre-order, you cannot ever unlock the La-5 and Fw 190

True?

I find the 89.99 price tag to be disgustingly excessive for a game with nothing published.  CLOD was a dismal, dismal failure so I'm very skeptical about pre-ordering.

Since we don't have a Friday Update with screenshots and actual gameplay YouTube vid you are the right person to ask I think.

And you've seen, while you were playing or when someone else did, things like soldiers running away from their trucks while being strafted like in the trailer? And some pilot animation?

As this sim is called Battle of Stalingrad how did Stalingrad look like? Haven't seen one single street of it till sofar.

Well, you need to describe us every single little detail. How irrelevant it might be in your opinion.

This video obviously is rendered. Until any game looks like this ingame we will need much more powerful graphics cards. However look at the link with the ingame screenshots that was posted earlier: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3814642/IL2_Battle_of_Stalingrad_scree#Post3814642

This is what the game will look like...and I think that is pretty good.

Winger, the footage is all CG, no in-game footage. The aircraft shown, map, environment will of-course be there but this is all CG footage filmed to make a trailer.

I'd personally love that sort of camera opportunity to be available in the actual release version, but what you see is obviously rendered and not in-game.

Cheers, MP

Special Aircraft Set: Buyers of the Premium Edition will also get access to a couple more special aircraft (La-5 and Fw-190 A-3) which cannot be obtained in the game, but can be purchased in our store after launch.

This is how I understand it: It seems they won't be obtainable just by playing the game. But you still can buy them if you get the Standard Edition now.
