Drum_Tastic Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Hm, at this stage it feels like crowd funding to me. That is not wrong but I for one would like the honesty for the developer to call it such. The benefits of pre ordering don't seem interesting to me, and the two extra planes seem extraordinary expensive. If that is to be the regular price for add-on planes I will keep well away from this title. Furthermore the information about the product is slight to say the least. But it maybe that this series is not aimed at westerners at all, being situated at the east front. Does anybody know what pre ordering cost in Russia? Looking at that intro film the title promises some Hollywood style encounters flashing mussels and such. The thing that mesmerises me is the way the clouds are done that is simply the best i've ever seen it, remains of coarse the question will that be the representation in the actual release also. After looking at this promo on a frame by frame basis it seems that there is quite al lot of after effect style effects, very beautiful as they are but mayhap not as hardcore as I would like it. All in all I don't see a valid reason to pre order now, if they need money they should ask for it, but selling something that ( literally ) virtually doesn't exist I wont buy. Further more this sort of titles are dropping in price very rapidly after release regularly, makes me decide to go for the late bird advantage this time around. One can not hold that against a guy in my opinion, as they are continuing a slightly burned title, not that cod is bad I still enjoy it quit often, but the after sales standing taken by the publisher on COD was way below par. May hap that they will select an other for the western release of the eastern front, in my opinion that would be a good idea, but still even then I'm no not sceptic but sure enough careful. Cheers, Niels I am really not sure why this would not appeal to a Westerner, I live in the UK and it certainly appeals to me. Some were saying the same about "Cliffs of Dover" I am an aircraft and flight combat sim nut. I will always support any theatre or era by any group trying to raise the bar and take the genre forward. I really don’t care if I am flying in Spain, North Africa, or the ETO, what I do care about is that each subsequent Flight Sim, or game if you like, is trying to take the art forward. As enthusiasts I believe we need to support the people who give us what we love. 4
707shap_Srbin Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Pre-ordered premium. Can`t wait to hunt over Stalingrad again A little offtopic Long time ago, in AFW (1st one), Stalingrad winter map. Combat mission of: Il-2's with Yak-1 (1941) - =KAG= and Polish pilots vs. Bf109F-4 and Bf109G-2's. - JG4 and i-dont-remember-who-else-probably-brasilians 40 minutes of flight are pass, mission complete, all tanks (PzIV) are dead, we lost and cant find each other over simular-looking snow fields somewhere NW from Stalingrad, S from Kotluban' r/s. "Bersrk: -Dart, damn, where are You? Dart: -ppsss...pssss...ssspp.. Hmmm... Damn I dunno... Must be at (location)! Heading ENE, out of ammo and almost out of fuel. Bersrk: -Roger that! Altitude? Dart: -Low! I am in Il-2, just 10-15 round per each VYa-23 mm gun left in drums. Also, heavy damaged wings and tail - "Valentine-gift" from 20mm FlakZwilings. Suddenly, I see contact. Far and low, from my 3 O'cl... He is heading N and I am on his 7 O'Clock. Our paths are crossing, contact coming to my sights... 800m... 600m... Bersrk: -Dart, I see You! I am on Your 6! Throttle down, I am coming! Pleas roll over, look at me! Dart -Roger, doing that!.... Berserk, I dont see You! My tail is clear! Bersrk: ?????!!!!! WHAT??? Distance to unknown contact is already 300 metres... Bersrk: Damn. it is a Messer!!! Dart: ????!!!!! DAMN! Pustelga, Gurza, Doctor: Damn, Bersrk, run away, NOW!!! ... ..... ... Berserk??? !!!!! Damn, answer!!! TRATATATA JG4_Greif lost his wing under fire of =KAG=Bersrk JG4_Greif bailed out (too low, ~100m) JG4_Greif killed Radio chat: !!!!!! ???? AHAHA, damnit - where did You found him? Why do we see an IL-2 with rear gunner in the trailer while the only included Sturmovik is a single-seated version in Standard and Premium Edition? All planes that participated in the Battle of Stalingrad had various sorts of weapon and equipment modifications and even global design modifications. All of them will be available as un-lockable rewards. We've selected the five most interesting modifications for each aircraft in the game. Some are significant, others - typical. For instance, Soviet air forces soon realized how vulnerable an attack plane (Sturmovik) is and started installing gunner-manned turrets in the field. The German Luftwaffe used lots of standard issue modifications: drop tanks, under-wing gun pods. And of course both sides used such typical mods as different bombs and rockets. And we add other exciting opportunities like removing head armor plate if it limits your view. Images and photos are here.
Freycinet Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 If everyone waited for sims to go to the bargain bucket there wouldn't be anymore being developed. Alot of niche games are having to follow a similar model, others are going the way of MMORG and some need to use kickstarters. This all points to the fact that Niche Sims/games can only continue with such extra support. Everyone is entitlled to their own opinion of course but I just hope that one day we aren't all looking back to the 'good old days' where there was still a future for sims. I also think we cannot continue to expect to pay say just £30 for a flight simulator (which is what we were paying years and years ago), how can they sell enough units to be profitable unless they start to target gamers with a more dumbed down system. most simmers are quick to point out flaws in FM or DM or Physics but at the same time want to pay next to nothing for all that work. Couldn't agree more! What would happen if we all just started buying cars and books second-hand?.. Quite surprised by some of the very jaded comments in here. Aren't we all flight sim fans happy to see a new title making headway in the world? Just got a new mail: On 26 July 2013 16:40, 777 Studios <sales@777studios.net> wrote: > > Congratulations! Streiff Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Thinking about pre ordering even though i don't even know if i will have time to play the game. What i need to know before is a little more about the complexity of engine management etc. The "feel" of it so to speak. I , personally, dont want another CloD where everything seemed complicated (in relative terms) just for the sake of complexity. That includes the GUI etc. (Why in gods name complicate stuff that already worked for 10 years?) I want a IL2 Sturmovik type of deal. DF`ing and playing online/offline for the fun of it, not the misconception of being "there" (hate that phrase). I want a game where the fun is priority nr 1. Another thing i need to know is their planed business model. They have said several times it wont be like RoF but the standard/premium pre order (2 aircrafts that can be purchased later) seems to suggest just that. Will it be 1-2 new aircrafts every 6 months with a new "free" map for 49.99 or will it be closer to IL2 Sturmovik with a new theatre (Pacific, Mediterranean etc.) and 6-8 planes for 59.99. I have no interest in forking out large amounts of cash just to be able to play the darn thing with other people (flying a Bf109 E3 in a -44 scenario isn't my idea of fun). 9./JG52Lopp Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Ordered mine, can't wait, Focke Wulf!! Keep up the nice work.
Freycinet Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Images and photos are here. Excellent link, very informative, thanks a lot Bersrk. For anyone interested in Il-2 rear gunner development that link is the place to go... Oh, and did people not notice the major news? FW-190!!!
JG4_Greif Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) The engine of my G2 was damaged, you came in from my 5 o`clock and I couldn`t do anything ( good excuse )If this is the fight you are thinking of. We had a great time fighting each other, Bersrk. Hope we can get it back with BoS. I will pick you up in sector K11 if i remember right. Edited July 26, 2013 by JG4_Greif 1
Avimimusold Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Does the trailer mean we'll get infantry running from the columns (like in Il-2)? Let's face it - I really care a lot more about ground attack then most other things... :D Also - I wonder how soon (or if) I can pre-order the Mig-3, Il-4, and Fw-189... The IAR-81 would also be neat... Please add stretch goals for 2014 Let us pre-order the next addons... :D 1
LLv44_Mprhead Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Pre-Ordered premium. Nice to see I am not the only one...
ST_ami7b5 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Sent money to my PayPal account. As soon as they are there, premium will be mine
Feathered_IV Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 $97 Australian... Might need a fortnight or so for that. How long does the preorder period last?
Freycinet Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 yes Freycinet, but that and the LA-5 are worth 40 bucks?? .... stll trtying to decide..... decisionnnssssss 20 USD for a plane? - I think that is a very very reasonable price. Look at the price of stand-alone planes in FS and DCS. Sure, they may have a few more nuts and bolts modelled, but you don't get anything like the realistic combat environment you'll get in this one. If people are hesitant because they have a hard time making ends meet I totally understand. But most simmers who can even contemplate a sim like this will have sunk much more money into their PC and preipherals... 40 bucks? - I'll skip on that cinema ticket and do some simming instead with ME in the leading role! 3
ITAF_Rani Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Pre-ordered my Premium.... See you in the Stalingrad Sky on my Bf 109 !!! Salute Edited July 26, 2013 by ITAFRani

RedDragon Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Looking great, but I think I will wait and see what that old engine can do in MP with ground objects and then read reviews on several forums. Best luck to all of you. 1
StG2_Manfred Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Couldn't agree more! What would happen if we all just started buying cars and books second-hand?.. Quite surprised by some of the very jaded comments in here. Aren't we all flight sim fans happy to see a new title making headway in the world? Couldn't agree more, and even more if we want to have a complex FM and a complex DM and plenty of planes and bombers and a believable world with really big cities and moving ground objects and infantery and smart AI and 100+ human players and an immersive experience and cool explosions and a correct story according to history and a stable dedicated server and sophisticated statistics .... and.... and....and.... I can afford premium so that's my choice, mostly because I want to support this open and enthusiastic team! Thinking about pre ordering even though i don't even know if i will have time to play the game. What i need to know before is a little more about the complexity of engine management etc. The "feel" of it so to speak. I , personally, dont want another CloD where everything seemed complicated (in relative terms) just for the sake of complexity. That includes the GUI etc. (Why in gods name complicate stuff that already worked for 10 years?) Don't mix the complexity of FM/DM with the accessability of an computer interface, which of course should be ideally easy to use. You can have both, a complex sim with a logic and useful interface. CloD unfortunately failed in this discipline. Edited July 26, 2013 by Manfred 1
Sven Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Spending 90 dollars for the full game I expect a lot, 40 extra dollars of content, FM and realism (although there seems to be a 'slight' deviation on this one already) on top of what I now have in CLOD. Reviews in Autumn: I am waiting for you! 2
theOden Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 last part of video, the ground strafe, gave me goose bumps - hopefully the simgame will be close to that when flying it. mud-moving is the way to go. (yes, I suck immensly at dogfighting )
II./JG27_Rich Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'll order up the Premium Edition as soon as the cash clears in paypal. I hope this sim attracts more attention than Cliffs Of Dover did and brings more players over from IL-2 1946. I liked Cliffs Of Dover and was one of the lucky ones who had no real problems with it I just got bored of going back and forth over that channel day in day out. I'm more of a land guy and especially an F4 guy
zippyPerrserker Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Can't wait for autumn to try it out - wishing success and good luck to the team!
150GCT_Veltro Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) We invite you to become a participant in the development of BOS by placing a Pre-Order. By doing this, you will be the first to get access to the product and help us to make it even better. The combat flight-sim genre now needs your attention; modest budgets do not allow the realizationof everything virtual pilots dream about at once. But together we can truly revolutionize the genre and bring back a true legend to the sky! Guys this is not Battlefield 3 (or 4), this is a Flight Combat Sim...the next IL2. They are asking for our support, not simple to buy a new game. Nobody did force us to love flight simulations. This market now is asking for a lot from its customers (community) to survive and improve. RoF docet. Edited July 26, 2013 by 150GCT_Veltro 4
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Premium pre-ordered I'm looking forward to meet all fellow VR pilots in the sky.
JtD Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I ordered premium on faith and to help insure that the WW2 Combat Flight Sim remains viable.Me too. I've spent more money on way more silly things. I sure hope that when we finally receive at least some info on FM and DM, I'll still have that opinion.
Roast Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I will surely pre-order in the coming weeks First off; nice set of planes for the pre-ordering simmers. Just a few questions which possibly have been answered elsewhere on the forum, but I would like to know Regarding the 'trajectory' of future planes for BoS, are any Lend-Lease planes planned for now, or is anything considered yet? Personally I would love to have the P-39 but am not certain if it flew over Stalingrad or not Roast
1CGS BlackSix Posted July 26, 2013 1CGS Posted July 26, 2013 Any info on minimum specs? We'll publish minimum specs in Autumn. What about the I-16? We've no plan to make this plane for the release. looks good to me - and the release dates for this year? Release date is Spring 2014
Max_G Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Hello and sorry for Repeat this but i think this places is better than the old one, I am interested in the Pre-Order, but Have a question, Its the Friend-Gift System operative? , i mean, One of my Friends is going to Pre-Order me the Game, I need to Give him the Info of My account or he can Create one and Give me the "Gift"? Thanks and Good Luck, Its looking Awesome The gift system is not available now. It will be available in Autumn this year. Now your friend can pre-order (purchase) several copies of any edition per his account (email) and then (when the gift system will begin to work) he will send the gift (the digital key) to you and you can activate it on your account (email).
Avimimusold Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Jmm... Well the I-153 was better than the I-16 Either would make a great 2014 add-on... It would give an interesting experience in multiplayer.
ISIDA Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I do hope the quality of the trailer is representative for the quality of the game. Which is usually not the case. Why do we see an IL-2 with rear gunner in the trailer while the only included Sturmovik is a single-seated version in Standard and Premium Edition? Il-2 with rear gunner becomes available as you progress in the game.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Pre-orders have always been crowd sourcing. It just has a fancy new industry catch phrase. I'm not sure what the hubbub is all about. They will have my money by the end of tonight. The Fw190 is indeed a nice addition. I played BOS for fifteen minutes at the release last night. It looks very good even in the pre-alpha stage. The interface is very Rise of Flight. Shadows inside and scratches on the glass were excellent. I think this is the sim we have been waiting for from a graphics standpoint alone. 1
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 If people are hesitant because they have a hard time making ends meet I totally understand. But most simmers who can even contemplate a sim like this will have sunk much more money into their PC and preipherals... Quite.
migmadmarine Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Here's looking forward to limping home in my good old IL-2! 1
JG27_Chivas Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Awesome trailer, but CFS3 also had an awesome trailer for its time. The trailer will sell a lot of product, but I would much rather have a trailer more representative of the product. We all know the genre hasn't advertised itself enough, but sometimes the way its advertised can leave a bad taste in your mouth. I want to support the genre in the worst way, and want to do it early, but this time because how everything went down, I'm waiting to see something more representative of the real product. 1
Dutch Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Well, I may be a sucker, but I've pre-ordered anyway. I still feel conned by the Channel Map for RoF and it's total lack of content and it's sloping water, so I really hope this release will rekindle some faith in the Devs. You have my money, so please make it good. Thx.
Maximum_G Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'll consider buying it after I make sure the game is not a repeat of CoD and that German aircrafts will not get nerfed in one of the game's future updates. Considering how German aircrafts (especially the new overheat system and the new FM of Fw-190) were treated since TD's takeover, I highly doubt it that BoS won't become another game highly biased towards Russian aircrafts. The trailer doesn't show anything that hardcore simmers mostly care about. In my eyes, all the trailer is trying to say is "The game will look like a Holywood movie! Come and pre-order it!". To be honest, this trailer will not intrigue a lot of hardcore simmers, if at all. 1
FuriousMeow Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The hardcore simmers got their trailers, they were the aircraft tests showing them in flight. This is a theatrical trailer to get more people interested in the product. Even Hollywood's trailers for action movies are 30 seconds of condensed action for a movie that contains upwards of 45 minutes of non-action. 3
Uufflakke Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I played BOS for fifteen minutes at the release last night. It looks very good even in the pre-alpha stage. The interface is very Rise of Flight. Shadows inside and scratches on the glass were excellent. I think this is the sim we have been waiting for from a graphics standpoint alone. Since we don't have a Friday Update with screenshots and actual gameplay YouTube vid you are the right person to ask I think. I would like to know if the trailer comes close to the game as you have played it for 15 minutes. Related to graphics quality like clouds, groundtextures, the lighting on planes, explosions, smoke. Anything. And you've seen, while you were playing or when someone else did, things like soldiers running away from their trucks while being strafted like in the trailer? And some pilot animation? As this sim is called Battle of Stalingrad how did Stalingrad look like? Haven't seen one single street of it till sofar. Well, you need to describe us every single little detail. How irrelevant it might be in your opinion.
