IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad Pre-Order Program

I'm not quite sure why 1C gets the blame for the previous title. That's like 2K games being blamed for Duke Nukem Forever instead of the development team (that spanned four development groups).

 

I agree MG gets the blame for its mess, but 1C has a lot to answer for on how it communicated, well didn't communicate, with its user base through its forum.  The 1C forum was a nightmare and I don't trust them due to how they treated users.

 

If they hold the purse strings on this title = no pre order.

Well if you'll notice here, there has been tons of communication from the developers and 777 Studios because they have first hand knowledge and 1C is just the umbrella funding the venture.

 

But you're money, when the preorders start spilling the beans during the early access it'll be a long wait till the official release.

I'm a fan of 777, their communication has always been great.  I purchased ROF on release date, well before 777 were about.  I wouldn't be surprised if i bought this in the 1st week of release... but the pre-order does not contain enough info to get me over my 1C phobia.

I'm not sure it's worth trying to convince someone to pre-order.  If it sucks, you get blamed for dragging them in.  If it's awesome, you get to rub their faces in the awesomeness that you are experiencing while they are forced to wait.

It is worth it because more funds for the developers means more theatres and planes to you, me and everybody. I've certainly spread the word as much as I could about BoS (my youtube channel, reddit, etc) and I hope as many as possible will do so. Well, those who love the flight sim genre anyway.

Correct, if 1C were not involved I'd feel more comfortable with a pre-order. Of course funds raised now will support 777, but the truth is 777 is not independent of 1C, and any chain is only as strong as its weakest link.  I've been burnt several times on pre-orders, they are rarely good value.  I respect people wanting to support any flight sim with faith and a pre-order.  If 777 had said, 'we're having cash flow / funding issues, we need your support via pre-orders'. I'd very likely support them, but pre-order for a forum badge and beta access just doesn't do it for me personally.  If there were some solid dates over beta access and final release dates I'd be able to quantify the value of the pre-order, but it is so ambiguous its unclear.

 

I look forward to hearing some reviews before i purchase.

I am not responding to attempt to push you to preorder Tommy, you've made up your mind and that's fine. I just wanted to clarify that the pre-order does what you say, early access <yay>, some badge <shrug> and 2 extra planes if you paid a little more <cool I suppose> plus the rear gunner for the Il2 <definitely helpful, like to switch between fighter and making the ground go boom> but it's mostly to show support to further expand the series. BoS is funded, this is to show there's enough interest that funds for further development will be allocated.

I think the more money developers get the more planes would come. Maybe they will give us smoothly working Battle of Britain based on BoS engine some day...

Yes indeed! As others have said, hopefully there will be a "grand tour" of theatres! And while we're waiting, I've read that many Russian squadrons have been using RAF planes in CloD to make Eastern Front missions, and I'm sure we'll return the compliment, as we did in the days of the original IL2 (After all, it's all fun so long as we're shooting at LW targets!...  )

I had high hopes for it and did enjoy it for a bit.

 

But now for something newer, and better, hopefully more accurate and will get lots of support as the only flight sim I am playing right now is Rise of Flight (which is fantastic, but I like a little more modern birds).

I wonder how many people will have bruised buttocks from kickin themselves for not pre ordering BoS. That'd really be somethin to see..  I got shot in the buttocks once..

Actually CoD is not bad now.. They still need to fix some things .. but between that last patch and TF it is not bad... but I am looking forward to BoS like a kid to Christmas in '61 .. but I still get a blast from good old IL2... That thing still floats myboat after all these years... so BoS may have me comatose..

 Has anyone here had the same problem as me, i tried to prorder the prem edition i clicked on the red buy now bar and done it all ok i even got the onscreen  

"Thankyou for your order" screen with all my details and my email addy on the billing info , last 4 digits on my bank card and a transaction id no and date and time of transaction . However no email has arrived to confirm anything. 

This also happened to me last week when the pre order first came out, i went through all the ordereing sequence got the same order confirm

as above but no email to say i had bought it. I left it for a day or 2 to see if it was because of a backlog of orders but still no email. I checked my bank account and no money had gone out to pay for the game hence me trying to reorder it again an hour ago.

Anyone had this happen to them? i have tried to find the customer support section on this forum to no avail anyone?

Probably when the FFB gets fixed.. For me it still goes n and out.. which is tough.. I don't use the gunshake and that other stuff. I lke a FFB stick for the stick forces. In Il2 I can tell the difference between a Jug and a Mustang by the stick forces.. or a fully loaded plane as opposed to a clean one..  Stick forces on a FFB stick especially the MSFFB2 do things that no spring can ever do..
