Same here. Somewhere along the way I've lost the original demo too. I think the one I have now is the second leaked(?) demo that had a couple more planes included. I'd sure like to have the original one again to round out my collection.

I'll be happy to see BoS released - that will mean the Battle of the Coral Sea and Midway are on the horizon....be sure

BOOM, baby

Don't  tease ,If we knew for certain the follow up release to BOS would be the PTO. It would be a easy matter to secure a dozen premium pre orders. Most folks I flew with have no interest in the Eastern titles .

Yes I still have all of  them.

First IL2, then Ace Expansion Pack,  Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters, to finally IL2 1946.

Still have all the original boxes and cd's/dvd's.

I would have to go through some boxes in the loft above my garage to gather them all, but I do have each one.

Might have to display on a shelf someday as a tribute!

There was also "Sturmoviks over Manchuria" and the "Pe-2" add ons. Between PF and 1946 is were they were sandwiched.

yes please - do not take my imaginings for fact - I am not involved in the development of this software nor do I play one on TV

their needs to be a Forum Dream Bubble - something to surround a wishful posting with to make it apparent that it is unaffiliated with harsh, bitter reality...

on the other point - about flying in the Ost Front...I loved it - it was different from the US Centric same ol same ol and I learned some valuable history - things I would never have known about the Russian and German

war fighting and sacrifice, determination and pragmatism - very stirring

the 1c Maddox /  Schevchenko really did try to please everyone - can't knock them for that too much

Back after a long stay away from the forums... now that things seem to be picking up steam I'm checking things out in detail again.

As part of the release... it says the Yak-1 will be included which is fantastic. But I'm curious as to the specifics. The Yak-1 is distinct of course from the Yak-1b but within the Yak-1 there were a number of modifications and sub versions. Any word on a Yak-7B which was well used by 434 IAP in the lead up as well as during the Battle of Stalingrad.

cheers IceFire - we can use another knowledgeable veteran from the old days 'round here -

A question that just popped up - why were we shown many videos of real life MiG-3 and I-16 in development updates if the planes are not in the initial release? I was definitely counting on seeing them - will they be added later?

I thought that was tests from when Battle of Moscow was in plan, and was glad they were releasing them, didnt expect to see MiG-3 or I-153 in Stalingrad game, but hoped for I-16s

Posted (edited)

initial release is always limited - think long term - beyond 10-12 months, we'll get there

just look at RoF to understand how planes are released WRT time frame and order of battle..although IceFire makes a good point about Yak version -7b

I can imagine that plane being inline for BoS release sooner rather than later

Welcome Icefire. Glad to have you here!

I hadn't read anything about the Yak-1 (or even better, the1b) being included. Is there a link to that anywhere?

  • Aircraft at Launch:  Buyers of the Standard and Premium Editions will get the same base set of 6 aircraft (LaGG-3 (series 29), Bf-109 F-4, IL-2 AM-38 (1942 year's model, single-seat), Ju-87 D-3, Pe-2 (series 87 and 110) and He-111 H-6) with the possibility to earn 2 more aircrafts in the game (Yak-1 and Bf-109 G-2).

Right in the OP.  :)

Welcome back.

This might be where the unlocks come in to release modifications that were used by the different variants.

So what happens if I preorder this. Do I get an email with a "CD-Key"?

Posted

IIRC the Yak 1 will be the 1942 model with M-105PF. The Yak-1b is a later version which became numerically significant only in 1943.

well, i would say, still a lot of Yaks to choose from for later updates ;)

But 777 pairs their BoS Yak-1 with the Bf109G-2, means you have to unlock them. So , i would be not surprised if it will have 1xSchvak, 1xUBS and a bubblecanopy.......we will see soon i guess.

Posted (edited)

Unlikely. Otherwise it would have been clearly labeled Yak-1b but it isn't.

EDIT: And in that case the most numerous fighter (the Yak-1 Model 1942) would be missing. Not likely, as I said.

What would happen if we all just started buying cars and books second-hand?..  :(

well... much ressources would be saved. ;)

Welcome back Icefire, that name brings back some good memories of several good Il2 campaigns, if my memory serves me correctly.

Hi guys preordered the premium version 3 days ago already and having ROF I'm confident of the top quality the team has put in BoS.

Nevertheless let me say that creating/modelling FM for WWII warbirds is a much more complicated things than doing that, as in ROF, for WWI ones, so referring to ROF as a basis is not that really useful from my personal point of view of course.

Putting real data in a computer does not automatically means that they will be rendered in game as in real life: IL-2 is an example of this, a lot of real data from original team and later modders which actually produced (and I'm a big IL-2 fan!) so many buggy results. In IL-2 is simply impossible to have all the right parameters inside and working in a same plane at the same time: either works top speed or. for example; climbing one and so on and on...

That said and maybe right for this challenging reason, I'm more than eager to begin my tests!

Best regards, and thks to Jason and his team!

That's what I was hoping for. In IL-2 1946 we have the Yak-1 with the M-105P so having the slightly hotter PF engined version would be a very good thing given the opposition.

Also... thanks all for the comments! I'm cautiously excited about Battle of Stalingrad.

The Pe-2 was a download.. (Remember the Boonty Box fiasco...  ) I don't think the SoM or 46 add ons ever came about as individual releases.... they  were due to be released the same way as The Pe-2 add on but were combined and released as 1946.. which I think was a great move.

LOL I still have all of those! Plus my uber fanboy autographed (by Oleg and Ilya) copy of Forgotten Battles! Although '46 is still on my HD, I haven't started it for over a year, and when I upgrade, I think it will finally be time to move on. CoD, BoS and Star Citizen should take all my time up.

I had forgotten about the PE2/Boonty fiasco...

Posted

You seem to forget that the original IL2 had only a few planes as well, different variants of the IL2, Bf109F, LaGG3, P-39 and such. It didn't start developing into the multi headed monster until later on. Even the Fw190 didn't appear in the release version, it was added later.

That's right, plus the planes that 15[span]Costa  mentions.

But I recall that this was the FREE IL-2 Demo

I can't remember specifically regarding SoM and 1946. I believe they were seperate and that may be because the 1946 release was staggered for a later release in the states. I remember getting 1946 from Jason and GoGamer (and I think those were purchased over seas by GoGamer for stateside gamers wanting that version ahead of the regular release) so there may have been a period where SoM was a download prior to then.

Like everything else, certain aspects meld into a foggy past. The good times flying I remember well, the rest is trivial, but that's the best I remember SoM, Pe-2.

BTW, I notice you have three 1946s with different markings. What are the differences, if any? I have the black and red starred version

How much will each plane cost, does anyone know?

I have been interested in flying these aircraft since I was a young man. The professionalism and attention to detail in RoF exceeded my expectations. I was a huge fan of the IL2 series over the years and I think that the videos we have seen so far show that the excellence and attention to detail of the 777 team continues.

Buying the premium preorder was an easy decision, not only for the simulator but also to support their excellent work to keep the WWII sim genre alive.

I really appreciate what the team is doing and I am happy to know that others feel the same way that I do

Haven't got a "cd-key" though unless its the same as the order id.

Bought premium. The eye for details in the inofficial vidoes from the event convinced me.

Also bought a bunch of planes for RoF have to give its "new" career mode a try. Once I find the time and energy to setup my TrackIr and Hotas again.....

The black one in the middle is my original IL2 disk.. the two on either side are the 46 disks.. remember one was the sim and the other was stuff.. pictures etc.. 46 was tghe first DVD disk .. PF was two disks and FB was 2 disks.. the AEP was one disk they were all CDs.
