Hi everyone!

We wanted to let you know that we are having a lot of fun on this server, and we will be happy if we manage to have more pilots in the evening. We are there almost every evening, our time zone is that of Rome. ?

I have only made a couple of flights here, but I liked what I saw, in fact it is exactly what I had in mind when Normandy was announced : the Kanalfront!

I'll try to bring some more pilots here.

Server is proving to be great, great mission last night with EAF pilots.

We are trying to bring as many pilots as possible here. If I may say, maybe I would take the mission to 3 hours. Anyway SYN keep it up.. I personally if there's the possibility to donate, I'm ready to do it.

Thanks for the kind words. It is hard to bring a new server into the arena but we are softly trying to do just that while still enjoying other servers ourselves!

 

I think there is a contribution link on the stats page if anyone is interested...just buy Vander a coffee at the bottom :)

 

There is always room for improvement, obvs...so anyone with ideas keep em coming!

I'd like to make a request if possible, I think it applies to both sides. Is it possible to have the positions of the objectives to be defended on the map, as for those to be attacked?

Our idea was not to do this, because then you'll have "Experten" waiting for you at the objective location. It makes any bomber attack futile and is not very realistic that the enemy will know in advance what your target is. We do have radar, so you can sort of see where the enemy is going (if it isn't taken out)

There seems to be a problem with the Server, I can't log in, it downloads the mission regularly but I get kicked out. In the other Servers I have no problems, could you check?

Strange. I see other people in the server. Can you delete all the missions in  <IL2 folder>\data\multiplayer\dogfight\syndicate  and try again?

@SYN_Vander I did as you say I deleted everything, but the result is the same. He also tried another of mine and had the same result. Anyway afternoon I'm out I'll try again tonight.

I see 3 players on the server, but i cant join. Mission loading ,then back to serverlist. All other servers work.

Okay, thnx I better restart then.

Sorry, I didn't look good enough. It seemed as if other players will still playing, but actually the server (Dserver) had crashed.

 

Will do some server maintenance and then restart.

Hello everybody!! I wanted to warn you that from December 1 2022 the pilots including me will change their name, in the IL2GB account, to "I-NAME" and we will always beframe yourself in the Black Knights Squadron. ?

Greetings to all! Last night we noticed that in the 1940 mission with the E7, that the German bombers attacking ships, by German RADARs are reported as enemy airplanes. Then we would like to ask if it is possible to increase a few more flights of AI, so as to compensate for the times of the non-presence of human pilots. ?

I have increased number of aircraft slightly. More AI flights is difficult. I had this in the beginning, but as soon as more than 10 or so people join you get overload messages. I now use the SPS monitor to delete the AI flights one by one, but that only avoids the overloading.

I have released a new version of the mission generator. This should fix the issue that some objectives were impossible to complete because of faulty counter logic.

Also, an achieved objective will be crossed out and is now visible again for both factions: Blue for allied targets and Red for axis.

And finally, NBD beacons should now work.

Following the EMG update, the following also applies to our server:

 

-The AI bombers in dogfight mode (hidden option in config.ini, for our dedicated server) will now start in the air for less performance impact
-I have increased the number of AI slightly so that besides one AI bomber flight there are now 2 AI fighter "flights" per side, so more chance to encounter them. If performance of the server drops due to amount of players on the server the AI will be deleted, starting with the fighters, then the bombers and finally ambient vehicles.

Do the fighters air spawn as well? If so, I believe one spawned directly behind me and sniped me (pilot killed me within one second of opening fire) as I had no time to react. I would have to check the tacview to be sure, but I'm pretty sure this is what happened as I had been chasing radar contacts on an empty server in a Hurricane at a decent altitude (cloud deck, probably 8k), while rolling left and right and scanning the sky religiously, when all of a sudden--after not seeing any contacts minus one Stuka in another location that I had killed--I was instantly dead. It was really immersion breaking after a long, non-eventful flight.

They do, but they should always spawn directly over an enemy airfield. If you want AI planes take off from a field , please have the devs fix the AI taxiing problems :)

Just checked the code, they are indeed spawning above one of their airfields and only the ones that are furthest away from the front line. So yes, it's still possible to get suprised by spawning AI but only if you hang around an enemy airfield far away from the center of the map.

What's going on with your stats page, Vander? Some of us - including myself - are getting a bit worried without getting their daily dose of numbers in tables and stuff ... :o:

Dunno, had to restart the stats webserver. So far has been running pretty steady for weeks on end. In any case, it's up again.

 

Mmmm, looks like dserver crashed as well. Will have to restart everything.

Hello. Nice new server. Everything was smooth and nice ( I like one map feature) Hope we get more our squadron members join in ( Im finnish bomber man since 2003) I was doing recon hastings with 88 and unfortunately I manage to get close contact with single flak grenade ( shit happens). But the question : My goal was first do the recon and then attack radar station . Because I am level bomber and use to try pinpoint accurary using bombsight the wind forecast told same to every altitude...ground 2ms and direction .... Does that means that wind was same from ground to 5k ...or was it unavailable ...or was it bug ? 

Nice to see server where bombers are not just a no good waste...

What is your question exactly? Would you like to see the winds per altitude in the briefing?

No...broblem was: when I opened the bombsight it normally shows wind speed and direction in differend altitudes ...ground...500m...1500m...and so on...this time it shows: ground 2ms dir 329....then it shows same in every alt...GROUND 2ms 329 deg

 

For example in TAW wind speed and directions are variable in differend altitudes...usually wind spees goes up higher alts...up to 5k

This time I set bombsight accordding ground level while I flyed 3500m....I use totally manual bombing so this is vital information...wind can be in ground 2ms dir 345 and alt 5k it can be 9ms dir 330...just wondering if someone else noticed same issue. I didnt got change to test it because of that unexpected meet with flak...this might be not so big issue...it depends...myself I want to deliver my greetings exactly where I want them...

So indeed there is not much difference in wind speed and direction in a generated mission. Here is an example:

I can change it so there will be some variation, no problem.

I never knew you can see this information in the bomb sight ?

 

EDIT: I have changed the code and restarted the server. The wind speed and direction will now change slightly with altitude.

Hi all,

Since August 2022 we have been running our dedicated server, with a strong focus on Western Front/Channel map, early war plane sets and bomber friendly scenarios. The aim was to have the server running fully automated with fresh missions being generated every day. So far the server has been running pretty well after some initial challenges (performance wise not much seems to have improved since RoF).
The plan has always been to run the server for 6 months and then evaluate. The time has now come to make a decision since we have payed for the last month. We feel that although the server is running well, much more is needed to make the server a success and we can't commit ourselves to do that right now. Therefore we have decided to not continue our server: It will go offline at the end of this month. ?

We had a great time flying over the Channel with all the random scenarios, weather and AI flights. We want to thank all of you that have flown on the server regularly and made our dream possible even though it was short-lived!

 

P.S. If anyone is interested in using my tools to run a similar server, send me a PM. I have created a server generator based on EMG that can create missions for any map and theatre (not tanks though)

Update: We might be able to keep running my personal dedi server on Sundays with these missions....

I played on it yesterday and really enjoyed it. At first there was a bit of a learning curve. Please keep up the good work and continue.

I am new to IL2, have tried tobruk and BoB.  Now Normandy.   Only servers I see are password type.   How do I find this server or get passwords to recommended servers.?
