Well I got a VKB Gunfighter Pro stick with Ultimate (all metal) grip.

I am still very intrigued by this new Virpil offering though.

I haven't found any information about Brunner's IL-2 support. Brunner's site doesn't mention anything, Youtube also doesn't contain any video. I know there's a project that uses an arduino in order to map Brunner base as an regular direct-x force feedback device. Although some users had reported success on IL-2 that still doesn't sound really solid to me. That's why I really expect Virpil or VKB releasing a force feedback base in the future.

Well I imagen if anyone did it would be Virpil. We have been waiting on the TECS throttle from VKB for a number of years now. But it is coming - so they say.

In the meantime been happily running my Virpil CM3 throttle for about a year and a half now and love it. Virpil is way ahead in the new product category. They have since had three versions of the throttle, about to have the third version of their base, and two versions of Collectives along with various grips that work with them. And that is not even counting the WarBRD base.

The one thing that really shines for me with VKB is that Ultimate Grip I have on my Gunfighter Mk III. Just love that metal grip. So I am going to be really torn on whether to order a new Virpil stick at this time and go back to plastic grip. But I am a hardware junkie so there is that lol. I do love new toys. And man that video has me intrigued by that very smooth action when letting go of the stick.

I am sure you are aware, but the metal TM grips are compatible with the Virpil Mongoos base.  So you don't have to give up the metal stick to go with the new Virpil base.  I am currently using the Warthog grip with my T50 base with no issues.  I am wondering if the apparent dampering reflected in the teaser would make it even better (or if the heavy grip would negatively impact that function)?

The new VirPil base will be like the VKB Gunfighter base, with a kind of "clutches" or "brakes" for dampening the stick movement, similarly to what they have in the (VirPil) Tork pedals.

If that is the case looks like Virpil's may be a little better, will see. I can dampen my Gunfighter some but then it does not really return to center good. Also from that video it seems all those adjustments are going to be able to be made from the exterior of the base rather than having to open it up which would be really nice.

Your just a hardware junky! Just admit it DB!!!

Oh wait you did admit it, but still, you don't care whether you have to take a cover off to adjust your dampening on the VKB base. YOU JUST WANT A NEW TOY!!! I am sure there is a group with a safe space for you somewhere in your area. You might need to seek them out Sir.

:P

Yeah I live in a very large retirement community and there are groups here for about anything LOL.

I have spent a lot in the last year or so on this hobby and I really need to curtail that for a bit. Maybe it will be a while before this new offering is available.

I prefer to think of @dburne as a pioneering hardware tester/reviewer for the community...:salute:

No you don't. As long as your wife is happy, Happy wife Happy Life, ?you are having fun and your not hurting anyone, other than virtually, you are good to go. If you love Combat Flight Simming like I do, then it is something that you are passionate about, and you taught me through the GFIII review, and then my purchase, that quality hardware makes a huge difference and makes this hobby a lot more fun. There's nothing wrong with that.

My Polish stick is by far the most realistic stick I ever can imagine being made

Gimbal that return it to center two hydronic dampers I can regulate with Valves

It is just too good to be replaced.

But I care not for Force feedback

Absolutely agree, FFB is something you want on your butt, not your flight stick.  Precision flying is out the window when you get artificially induced shaking into the stick.

Yeah I am very blessed in that regard, my wife is always all for me getting whatever I want for this hobby. And I do have a very big passion for it - heck I do it every day usually for several hours a day. I am the money manager though and need to keep spending at least a little in check lol. I figure a 4090 GPU may be around the corner, and I am sure I will be wanting that - no telling how much that thing will cost. Especially with the way the world is right now. So many goodies so little time.
