RedeyeStorm Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 To de Dev's, Let me start to see that I am really enjoying your sim especialy the career path. However I noticed that in what I supect every mission (except night missions) an enemy flight is set to attack specifically the player flight (not the player). This is noticeble when you fly a ground attack plane that is not very suited for dogfights like the Me 110, Mossie or the Il2. I enjoy watching the AI going at it so it is also very clear when an enemy flight goes for the player flight. I starts to make a bee line to the assigned flight even if it is outside visual range. It is also this flight that will follow you al the way to your home base until it goes bingo or is out of fuel (and mayby to damaged but not certain of this). I have read about accomplished mission makers (Gambit in particular) that is it possible to change this. I have off course no idea if this is a lot of work or not but is one thing that I find annoying about the career missions. Here's to hoping to a change. 4
Noisemaker Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 I've submitted several bug reports about the issue, and it is usually for a short time corrected, but always reverts back to the same mission parameters. The issue is that your flight gets set as a waypoint for the enemy flight(s) in the campaign mission generator, which means that even if you were to fly to the opposite end of the map, you will get bounced. It also means, that if you reset your mission flight altitudes, the enemy flight will always be co-alt or at a height advantage. I've tested this with heights up to 10000m (completely unrealistic for the eastern front) and it doesn't make a difference. I can only assume that it was intended to give the SP action with every mission, but it's actually quite tiresome knowing that in your flight of 3 remaining aircraft trying to protect 6 bombers, that you are going to be bounced by between 6 and 24 enemy aircraft. Guaranteed. When the bridge bombing bug occurred in the last update, it was briefly gone. I was able to fly a mission to attack a bridge, and on the way encountered some 110s off doing their own thing. Bridge was bombed, and we found the 110s on the way back and bounced them, since we had the altitude advantage. The other 12 109s didn't randomly appear, and it was a good mission, having hit the bridge and bagging a few 110s. Then the patch came, and it's back to let's fly our flight of 3 fighters into the entire Luftwaffe. So, to conclude (Excuse me for) the rant, I would like some milk runs in SP, or maybe face stronger flak (Western front), than enemy air. I don't need, or want, to see air to air combat in every mission. 4

So what is required is a mission change not an AI one. 4
RyanR Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 A funny thing I've noticed with "density" and "difficulty" set to high, is that when flying "ground attack".... often an enemy ground attack flight will cross our paths. It's a coin flip as to whether our respective escorts will go after each other. -Ryan
