4.706 not launching.

Has anyone else had problems with the latest update? I've now emptied the updates folder three times and re-attempted the download. The patch seems to go in OK but attempts to launch the game either from the launcher or the exe leave it hanging at about 90%. No idea what the problem is, any help would be much appreciated. I'm not very tech savvy so please explain in terms a luddite will understand! Cheers all.

Is your system Windows 11? If yes, do not try to reinstalls the game but try, if possible to move it to another driver. I did this with the last updates f Windows and the game and it worked.

Is seems windows 11 is still a problem for various software and hardware, not only IL2. I wouldn't dare to flunk my windows 10 system for at least another year.

Maybe a reinstall of windows 10 is recommendable? You could create a dual boot system by using partition magic or similar partition editors if you have enough space; you'll need around 120 GB without the game on your boot drive.

yup you should reinstall windows 10.

Thanks guys. I'm still running Win10 and up to the last patch have had no troubles. Windows10 is up to date as are graphics drivers. CloD, RoF and "the other sim" run fine, I'm stumped!

Maybe deleting the updates folder from the main game folder (or rename it) might fix it. Start the Launcher watch the telly for a while.

Mine also suddenly went FUBAR so am deleting Updates and trying again. Since the last update the vision  centering also appears to be all over the place.

Another thing to try is renaming the data/startup.cfg so it's recreated.

Another quick thing to check is that you are not running with mods enabled, if so and you have some mods installed then that's likely the cause - try disabling mods from the launcher and see if it helps.

 

Other ways to troubleshoot this:

1. check the .log files in the data directory - packman.log, _gui.log, tex.log might have hints if there's an error logged there or they end abruptly at a specific entry.
2. use https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/filemon to monitor the il-2.exe process and see what is the last file it is accessing that causes the lockup

If any of the above appear daunting or too much trouble you can opt for the easiest solution of reinstalling the game I guess.

That works within the elements of the VR. Bit puzzled as sometimes it's all over the place.

in my case it's due a TrackIR5 drivers installation, and TrackIR5 i almost never use ..
