BON - Landing Craft - too late to request static object with door lowered?

Salute

Many thanks to @Regingrave for the sample test mission to demonstrate how to lower the landing craft doors.

It seems that the only way to have a LC with the door down is to run a set of animation MCU's. For a busy beach scene I could see this being a big processing overhead (a view from a total layman so apologies if the clever elves do the animations in a clever way)

Would it be too late to request a set of static landing craft objects that come with their doors in the down position, (again apologies if this will come with the full release, just tell me to stop over thinking this and wait for the final release!)

Having these objects the invasion beach could be created a lot easier and vehicle starting positions could be placed at the open door (as if they had just come off)

The door animation will be fine. What is much more processing overhead, is the ship AI. It's relatively well known among mission creators that you can only have a maximum of 30-ish dynamic entities active at a time, or you'll get time dilation. Currently, that hence means a maximum of 15-ish ships if you also want to have a couple of aircraft, guns and/or infantry (once released). That's hardly a D-Day worthy fleet, is it?

I therefore fully support your request for static versions of the ships, if those aren't planned already.

Admittedly, D-Day represented the largest invasion fleet in history... so anything short of pre-rendering on supercomputers is going to look a bit weak.

I do kind-of hope they keep working on these things though - I could see a few landings in Kuban being simulated quite well etc. I'm also hoping that there will be British and Canadian assets for Normandy (half of the landing force was British etc.) and Dieppe/Operation Jubilee at some point. We need semi-appropriate landing craft carrying Churchill tanks!

'Static' ship objects (if provided) interspersed with AI ships for providing AAA fire should be able to work and present a visual representation of the invasion fleet.

Exactly what I mean. Based on the performance above cities, I guess something like a hundred static ships should be perfectly possible, and then have just a few dynamic ones for AAA and visuals :)
