352nd_Wheels Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) I know that several of the old timers of this sim series will remember Beebop aka Arthur Beardsley. His Avatar has been around since the original series and the old UBI zoo days. I received the sad news that he passed away yesterday June 14, 2022. His family posted this message on his Facebook page earlier today to let his friends and family members know of his passing. Quote Hello, this is Arthur's family. We wanted to let you all know that he has passed on. It was very quick and fairly unexpected, but he is no longer in pain. He shared many wonderful memories of all his friends and family - musicians, pilots, drivers, and neighbors. He will be missed. I consider Arthur one of my dearest, and very first, online friends and when he told me the news of his poor health in late April it was a real blow to me. I knew from his correspondence that he was gravely ill but the suddenness of his passing caught me completely off guard. I was expecting at least a few more months before he was gone. Arthur's help and positive attitude with the membership is one of the reasons that made Mission4Today a place where I wanted to go every day. He carried that positive attitude everywhere he went and the fact that he will not be around to share himself with us anymore deeply saddens me. Another friend of Arthur's posted this on his FB page. I do not believe that Arthur would mind it being shared with the IL-2 community. Quote To friends, and acquaintances of Arthur Beardsley, yesterday in the early evening, he passed away. Arthur was a musician, an avid gamer (IL-2 Sturmovik), as well as a huge fan of car racing. Over the years Arthur had been in a number of different bands, playing everything from Punk, to Jazz. He loved preforming, and making music with like minded enthusiasts and musicians, and creating new sounds, and exploring new music. In the past few weeks, Arthur was struggling with a number of health issues that came upon him suddenly, and mercilessly. His physical decline was astonishing, as it was shocking. As you may have been aware, he had a new heart valve put in, and during that ordeal he was notified of the discovery of cancer in his liver. The dye was cast. And his journey was clear. But he thought of his friends online in the IL-2 Sturmovik community, and how he was going to miss playing. I believe that the many hours that he spent flying in that game with his friends and colleagues, brought him the greatest joy. I just can't explain the joy you would see in his eyes as he began talking about his adventures flying some mission with his friends. I'm going to miss his friendship. But my hope is, that he has found all that was lost, where he has moved on to. To my friend, Cheers. And may you find the peace that you so richly deserve. Fare well Arthur Beardsley. I know that Arthur would want us to continue to download and enjoy his work. Arthur's older IL-2 Sturmovik work is still available at Mission4Today. Mtnbiker1998 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Real shame to hear, his hack skins were some of my favorites. Really creative stuff, and he had a real talent for it. He'll be missed for sure. 1

kendo Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Shocked and really saddened to hear this news. Such a familiar name and character around the forum. 1
Raptorattacker Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 REALLY bad news. I've come across Beebop many times during my quite long and quite varied online excursions into the virtual skies. He always struck me as someone who had my kind of take on humour and I always remember those people. To be remembered for the right reasons is a thing a lot of us could work on... He got it right. 2
schwarzerHund Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I had the pleasure of being in contact with Arthur in the M4T days- he went out of his way to be friendly & helpful to me. He was always a very positive person, creative, talented, genial and joyful. He will be missed. My condolences to Arthur’s family- and all who knew and loved him- may he Rest In Peace. 2
Jade_Monkey Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 R.I.P Arthur. Condolences to family and friends. 1

jollyjack Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 What a sad news, i really liked Arthur, PM'd quite a bit about skinning and he helped me out often when i started. Exchanging graphical assets. Later about his illness, and he seemed so happy to be home again after the hospital stint. And about the train business he worked for ... We'll miss him ! 1

AEthelraedUnraed Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) Sad to hear. Although I'm a 99% offline player, I know Beebop from the Forums where he always was helpful and next (in addition?) to a great attitude, usually came up with good and constructive ideas. I know that I haven't had the chance to know him as well as many of the online players do, but still I will miss him. As Haywood Hansell, at the time commander of XXI Bomber Command, once famously sung, "Old pilots never die, they just fly away" Spoiler Edited June 16, 2022 by AEthelraedUnraed 1

pilotpierre Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 RIP. I consider myself extremely fortunate - I am now well past my “Use By” date of 6 months as at Sept 2019. I just keep hoping to be around for each new update release. Ergo devs, da big Wun to look forward to is BoN. Please expedite soonest to minimise me haunting you upon my eventual demise.
