Why does the T34-43 turret rotate when I transition from the hatch to the seat when in the gunner's position?

I can have the turret unlocked and be observing from the hatch, spot a target, close the hatch, and the turret will start rotating on its own, with no input from me, usually in the opposite direction needed to bring the gun to bear on target. It happens in both SP and MP.

maybe it's related to the automatic refocusing of the sight when you change position, it happens in all tanks, it's always been present... sorry, it's like that...

I think I was able to turn it off, look into game options, controllers etc. Last time played TC year ago but didn't had the issue.

There seems to be a long time bug issue .. read Tigre88's extensive reports on the Turret auto turning behavior?

If it is caused by the automatic refocusing it is definitely a bug in the software as a refocus should not cause the turret to start rotating plus the fact it usually starts rotating before I can even get my eye to the sight. It typically happens immediately after hearing the hatch close.

It especially annoying when it occurs while I am on a multiplayer server.

the only way to override this "feature" is to play with the joystick, and not with the mouse... but no way to get rid of it with the mouse...

totally agree, it's immerssion killer, not logical, and very penalizing like other stuff in TC, but it's already been reported... you can always try again, who knows...

Did not know that,  yes playing with the joystick was natural for me. The turret did work nice for me.

One option is to use  software to emulate the  joy and map it to a mouse.

I tried, but I never succeeded... impossible to move the cannon diagonally or to manage the speed... but it would be as well as there is a mod from the devs...

I have it happen even though I only use the joystick.

I do use a joystick and under input devices tank turret control is set to joystick. The issue is still there.

I thought this was the place to report bugs. Is there somewhere else I should report this?

Well, that's a total buzz kill. I was going to mention this software to my tanker buddies that frequent the tank museum in Danville, VA. The museum has a battle ground that is used for 1/16 scale rc tank battles. I thought they might be interested but I cannot, in good faith, recommend this product, given the lack of attention to tank related bugs on the part of the devs.

leave a video of the problem here, maybe a developer will pay attention...

There is no need to leave a video. Just run the T34-43 mission that is included in the game. Start the tank, move to gunner's position, unlock the turret and gun, open the gunner's hatch, proceed down the road and as you approach the group of trees, veer to the right to the open ground, take a path that parallels the road until you come to the crest of the hill. You will see four panzers sitting in the road. Close your hatch, try to acquire the gun sight and let me know what happens. The same thing happens during MP. It takes time on an mp server to maneuver a T34 into position for a good shot when you are facing the German heavy tanks. Now magnify that difficulty with this bug and it unrealistically increases your disadvantage.

@Dusty_Steppes, I know that, I live it too..., but generally, the devs require a video or a file for that...

But they do have a file of their own creation that they can investigate in the T34-43 mission that is included in Tank Crew.

S! All,

I think that if you center your T34 turret when in the gunner seat... this will remove the movement of the turret in the opposite side when you move from commander to gunner. I do agree, it's frustrating when you want to shoot a German tank and your turret decide to move the other way! Cheers ;)

That doesn't work. If I am in a combat zone, sitting in the gunner's seat with the turret centered and unlocked, I often open the hatch for better situational awareness, spot a target, maneuver in order to line up the tank and turret to be aimed in the general direction of the target, close the hatch and the turret will start to spin before I can nestle to the sight. It doesn't matter if I am or am not nestled to the sight, applying control to oppose the spin does not work. The turret continues to spin in the random direction until it decides to come to a stop. Then, and only then, I can try to reacquire the target by rotating the turret before it is game over.

@Dusty_Steppes, some news?

If you are asking if I have heard anything from the developers, the answer is no.

If you are asking if the latest update addressed this issue, the answer is no.

good after, we can hope that this bug is related to the turret bug reported by @TIGRE88, this one "should" be treated by the end of the summer... we just have to wait and see...

we'll see what it says after July, I got new answers again and obviously they seem to say that this problem will be fixed when they have time...
hey yes for the planes it's right now but for the tanks it's always later or never

Better having... 'we will fix it when we have time...' then 'we will not fix it!'.
Knowing that some of the team that are working TC only... this might be done when we get the Normandy delivery!

Cheers, Gen ;)
