On my last mission I had to abruptely stop flyind due to personal afairs. I hit "Esc" and ended mission. Today when I was going to continue my carrer it says that I was captured and cannot fly. Is there a way to revert at least my last mission? After spending so manny weeks on this carrer I really don't want to restart.

Thanks

Searching the forums I stumbled upon this:

I have absolutely no idea if it will help you, but worth reading through I guess.

The career save files are continuously updated when you progress the career and generally only the most up to date versions of them exist.
Ending a mission which resulted in your pilot's death or capture without hitting restart will thereby result in the loss of the career.

The only way to revert back would be to have backup copies of the save files from before the point where you hit end mission.
These files in question are the Career folder found at IL-2 > data > Career, and the usersave folder found at IL-2 > data > swf > il2 > usersave.

If at any point you did a full system backup, or just an IL-2 backup for whatever reason during the time that the career was ongoing, then you might be able to salvage it that way by pulling these files.

If no backups exist then I am unfortunately not aware of any way to fix it personally, though it is possible you might manage to find a way by using a database editor as seen in the thread Nadelbaum linked however.

It's not gonna help you in your current career, but next time if you have to stop playing before returning to friendly territory, you should exit by using Alt-F4. That way the career doesn't update with your "failed" mission :)

The link posted by Nadelbaum does work as I have used it when I've pressed the Finish rather than Restart button after an "inapproiate death".

I am a developer so have no probem editing database values but whether you are or not the suggested editing tool is no more competed to use than a basic speadsheet.

As with injury you will no longer be commander if you were previously. That is in the data somewhere but I haven't found it yet.

Thank you very much for your help.

I finally solved my problem. I tried the changing day solution posted on Nadelbaum link but that didn't work. It still was in captured state and didn't let me fly anymore missions.

So, after digging in database editor I was finally able to revert my carrer to normal state.

Solution:

-Open CP.db with  a database editor and change the tab to "Browse Data" (see link posted above by Nadelbaum).

-On  the Table dropdown menu, choose  "career" and search for state column. If you are dead or captured this column should be 2 or 3. Change it to 0.

-On  the Table dropdown menu, choose  "pilot" and search for state column. If you are dead or captured this column should be 2 or 3. Change it to 0.

-On  the Table dropdown menu, choose  "mission" and search for the mission where you died or were captured and search for state column. If you are dead or captured this column should be 2 or 3. Change it to 0.

And thats it. After changing "state" column to zero on these three tables, my carrer is now restored as alive in IL2.

Many thanks for your help and credits for Talon_ that points me out to this solution with his own solution to a broken carrer.

In the future, hit replay mission. When it cycles back up, abort mission. Then you can start the mission over later.
