Moderator... sorry for hijacking the thread. Maybe this should be moved elsewhere?

@AEthelraedUnraed

Thanks for looking but that's not it. Maybe my Mom had the name wrong but I'm sure she remembered it as "Baby Shoes". He was Staff Sergeant Clarence R Marshall. The aircraft was B-24J #42-109808. Here's a link: https://www.honorstates.org/index.php?id=422229 and this: https://www.americanairmuseum.com/person/32733.

Description of the event which must have been terrifying:

On March 20, 1944 he was on the crew of the B-24J Liberator #42-109808 during a bombing mission to Frankfurt, Germany.

As they crossed the French coast they were hit by a direct flak hit setting the top of the aircraft on fire. The skin above the bomb bay started to melt. They slid off course in their formation with bombs falling freely around them. They exploded and the tail section came off and the wings split in two. They crashed near Dieppe, France with only the co-pilot surviving.

Here's a picture of my Dad's tank and link to the page: https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/tanks/m3_m5/m5a1-shanty-irish-12th-ad-rouffach-france-feb45/

I met a B26 Pilot in Israel in 1983, he was a friend of my uncle who lived there. His name was Trygve Maseng. Buddy of his wanted to sign up with the Army Aircorps. He went along for kicks and got thru the selection process. He told me it was a handful to fly at first as it had a very slick wing. If you lost an engine on takeoff everything had to be done exactly right or she would go down. He had about 250 hours by the time he got to B26 school. He crashed once and had a huge scar horizontally over his entire chest from where he slammed in the instrument panel. They lost more people training on the aircraft at first than combat losses. Once he got the hang of the aircraft he loved it. Very hard for fighters to intercept as it was fast. After WW2 he left the USA and went to Israel in 1948 and volunteered in their Airforce, flew in 106 squadron and stayed there. I was a glider pilot at the time so never really asked him specific flying technique questions. Interesting character.

Jason and Dev Team,

I really like the new work on input settings key mapping. While you are in that part of the program-Can we please get prop feathering assignable to each engine without having to go through the select engine function?

:salute:

Holy crap! Just got caught up on this latest DD and I am so stoked for the new controller input settings we are getting! I have been wanting this for so long for this sim, the ability to have and tune settings on a per aircraft basis.

Thank you can't wait!!

Sweet. Love that sexy B26--and the Martin top turret brings making a B-24 pipedream an inch closer.

I'm very much looking forward to the new key assignment feature. Another feature I think would be very useful is an in-game flight planning tool. I know there is a third-party one available, but having it embedded in the mission screen would be a much smoother user experience and would eliminate the need to Tab in and out of the game.

Amazing keyboard and joystick mapping according to the type of aircraft or MBT!
Today, for each device, we need to modify the keyboard mapping and joystick, which takes a lot of time.
B 26 is with great look. Hopefully AI, A 20, B 25 and B 26, is relatively well maneuverable, as well as all defensive weapons, making the challenge of simulation even greater!
Happy Easter for everyone!
