Dear Friends,

Today’s Developer Diary showcases our upcoming and awesome Mosquito FB Mk.VI. Isn’t she a beauty? Our “Wooden Wonder” as it was called, is in the later stages of development and we have already completed some of her skins that will be included. Work on her flight model has begun and work on finishing her cockpit continues. We are doing all we can to get her into your hangars just as soon as possible. We know she is a hotly anticipated plane and the wait is difficult, but please have patience, we think she will be worth it!

Full Text and Visuals HERE.

Happy to see that the appearance of the prop disc is being worked on. In VR especially they could use some improvement. Right now the props and spinners look like they are always in slow motion.

The Mosquito truly does look amazing. It will be worth the wait.

I'm glad to hear work is being done on the prop disc display. I'd like to see those fine light lines in the propeller disc that simulate the blade's movement darkened a bit though. I'm sure it's reflecting the sun but it looks a little odd to me.

Mossie and props look great.

Release the mosquito!  Just in time for the lovely northern spring and summer, where we have to huddle inside to avoid them outside!

The BlitzPigs keenly await the Mosquito.  Ground pounding is our thing, and a fast, agile ground pounder will be heaven for us.

Oink oink!

Yes   !!!!   She is a Beauty  !!?

I see on the picture of the Costal-Command Mossie   the Twin-Rocket rails the CC used together with the Droptanks ?

Will we get the Drop-tanks too ??

One remark:  The Costal command did not use the flame hiders on her Mossies ..

You are right:  It is hard to wait for the Mossie !

THX for Your work

I understand this may not be the place for it but will we still be receiving the tactical codes and custom numberings for old aircraft?

Yes takes time to roll it out to all planes.

My father was an instrumentation and electrical specialist for the RCAF based at Leeming in the UK during the last couple of years of WW2. He was mainly involved with Lancasters and Halifaxes but he did mention that mosquitos were based there around the end of his tour. He mentioned that the mosquito had a placard in the cockpit that warned "Do Not Bank Over 500 MPH". I've tried finding a picture of this placard on google to no avail. Just wondering if anyone here has seen it.

Among the other stories he told me were the flying in of a captured FW-190 on some sort of RAF tour, the day some mechanics (not him) were goofing around in the cockpit of a loaded Lanc, pushing buttons inadvertently dropped fuel that subsequently ignited, and set off a 4000 lb blockbuster it was carrying -they all ran and got away safely before it detonated but an engine struck and killed a cow a mile away. And then there was the night Ju-88s shot up the base and someone had removed all the barrels from the light AA guns they were supposed to man during attack.

What can the observer/navigator do in the Mossie ? Just curious…

Posted (edited)

As much as I protest about being eaten by mosquitos in Summer - I love that plane.

She's a treat.

Also, improved prop disk - thank you.

Not much in this sim I presume. In real life all radio comms and radio-navigation was on his shoulders. Plus, an extra pair of eyes to look out was a bonus, of course.

@Jason_Williams Awesome work to you and the team! Hey if you promise to keep cracking out great content like this, I promise do my little itty-bitty part of adding to the revenue stream LOL:good:

I think a navigator ai would be cool for bombers.  If having a pre set flight path and then the navigator would read out direction for given minutes at speed…. Instead of having to check the map every two minutes…

our pilots in SP already call out bandits etc. automatically.. what’s adding to say a heading, speed, and alt?

Also, curious about the new prop and vr..

How much guns does a plane needs? Thats a lot of guns on the nose, not including the picture with all the rockets and guns on the wings.

4mg and 4 cannon is chunky, but not an outlier I'd say.

He was responsible for pumping the landing gear lever in the event of hydraulic failure.

Umm...I believe the photo illustrates nicely how much a plane needs yeah?

Damn...looking good. My compliments to the modelers and texture artists.

I can't wait to see the cockpit. Nice work.

Awesome looking addition.. Hopefully not too long to wait now.

On a side note on propellers...How come we never see prop damage from enemy gunfire? Did this never happen? I mean even when our planes are peppered with bullet holes the prop is never damaged? ?

Friend of mine claims to have had a prop shot off in the Handly Page a couple days ago. I imagine it is just highly, highly improbable.
