Fantastic update, the Handley and Gotha are gorgeous. One problem I noticed is when you use Drop All in the Handley Page, it only drops 50% of the bombload. With 16 112lb bombs a single button press only drops 8 bombs, the second button press drops 4, and the third press drops the remaining 4, when they should all be dropping at once.

Detail on the Gotha I really appreciate: When the crew bail they don't just jump out, you can watch them stand up from their seat and shimmy along the little corridor that connects all the stations, where they fall out the back. Looks great!

Nice work on the 109 FM!
Please do not hot fix it ?

Just a thought: if the 109 had this "problem" the engineers not should investigate the 110 aswell?

Woah.. good things in 2022! Love you guys!

And this:

23. The S.E.5a machine guns are directed upwards relative to the propeller axis;

The impossible is possible! Jason, Han, how do you guys do that? If there's a Medal of Honor for project management, you guys should get one...

Fly my first mission of what will undoubtedly be a brief Ju-88C campaign.  First mission was traffic interdiction basically fly to a zone on the map and shoot everything up. Mission  involved flying just over the mountains before ducking down towards the target and was going to be a long one (44 minutes one way) but never fear as Ivan was ready to cut it short and pounce on us. 3-4 Yak-7s pounced on our flight of four, I was the only one to limp back to a friendly airfield, back up tomorrow, not feeling real good about my chances but will truly love the new scenery as my plane spirals into a field after it's wing has been shot off

The daytime.cfg file is missing in Il2/Sturmovik/data, where the times for sunset and sunrise are set for each date...

All fire effects to iluminate airfields in the dark are active way into the next morning and after sunrise in my missions.

Also the trigger date time MCU ignores the year in the date mark. 01/08/1917 is the same date for the trigger as 01/08/1918 for example...

Great update, thanks!

Some things I noticed in relevance to the new sky from a quick check in VR:

  • Banding is still present but different I guess; it's not something that annoys me particularly but since there was mention of it being mitigated might as well mention it. It's still quite prominent in the clouds, but then again there was no mention of that being part of what was being changed so I sort of expected it to remain.
  • Some stars, as mentioned by others, are a tad too large.
  • Sun brightness effect seems to affect vision more, especially in winter maps. No idea if it's because of the lighting changes Under a clear sky at 13:00 on Stalingrad map flying southwards the sky tends to be white and blend in to a white horizon. Ducking around and getting a strut to hide the sun helps a bit but it's convenient (would love to just lift my hand and shade my eyes). Bloom/HDR is disabled in the screenshot below, tried with HDR enabled but it didn't help; gamma is set to either 1 or .9 so nothing extreme.
    Spoiler

    image.thumb.png.db4c0dc3e97ddc9f3422f91fd1969bb9.png

Apart from the above the new lighting seems way more pleasing, especially in the early/late hours or night it's a way different experience; can't wait to have a decent go at it.

I guess it's not needed any more as they are calculated based on location/season.

Oh man, loving the Ju88C6!! Beast of a machine.

The aileron response on the BF109s also seem much more realistic now.

Terrific update! Game is looking so good. Cheers!

Thanks for the update, all the support for this game is much appreciated.
I have also posted news about it on a website I am writing news about to spread the word.
Big thanks also to Alexander 'BlackSix' Timoshkov for his continue support with his excellent campaigns, this was a very pleasent surprise for me :)
With so many new planes for the WWI VOL 2 new DLC, I think its time to finally buy it.. I hope there will be some single player content for it either from official source or the community.

The sky looks very cool. Gotha is marvelous, Ju-88C is mean.

Thx.

Great work guys. I'm still confused on the haze settings in the QMB. I have it set to zero, but it still appears quite hazy to me. Am I missing a setting? Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Is it possible that something went wrong with the update regarding existing careers? During my BOM campaign  every mission has waypoints heading to the south western corner of the map. I tried to generate new missions but with the same result every time.

Edit: Yogi already reported the issue and attached a career mission.

Yes, I just wanted to fly a second mission and it looks exactly like yours.

@=FB=VikSthere occured a bug with the update, so that missions don't go to the north, but to the south deep into friendly territory on the Moscow map. My Bf 110 E2 career and obviously Duchvdm's career, too are completely screwed.

Try rebooting your PC after the install if you haven't already

I did some more testing and i could only reproduce it on the BOM career. BOS and BOK where fine. And indeed new missions where also having this issue.

Is there more specifics on the 109 roll rate changes?

Just curious. Always thought the 109s were really stiff at high speed, 400mph they really struggled to roll to my understanding?

Super excited for the new lighting and Ju88.

S!,

"On all Bf-109 aircraft (except for the E-7) the effectiveness of the ailerons at high speeds has been changed (increased) (the "clamping" of the ailerons has been reduced at speeds over 400 km/h)"  400km/h is about 250mph if I remember correctly.

ok nvm seems my power brick needed a bit of wire fiddling, til - il2 locks to 30fps on battery power xD

the insane lighting of the sun at 6am is still an issue imho

The guys have flown and reported.

Said it made the 109s much more fun and they do punish shenanigans.

In line with what the spits/yak does atleast.

Thank you very much for the great update and all your great work. You are really a great dev team. All the best for you in Moscow.

Have a good time.

Banding is quite noticeable at dusk in VR and stars are too large and blurry. The clouds in the background at high altitude look too blueish and low res, in my opinion. Apart from that, the sim now looks gorgeous.

The shine to the NMF has been applied to the P-51B. Very excited about that. Thank you to the team.

It's the absence of blacks in some of the HMD's, awful looking nights but I can't blame that on the game, daylight, dusk, and dawns are awesome.

Far as ripping loose with a 109G-6 late with M-50, I have at or near full aft stick authority up to 300 Mph / 470 Kph, that's enough to do some nice higher end fast initial turning, not nearly as good as any Wulf, but at least now that is a possibility.  It will phase you into blackouts a bit quicker with higher end speeds, especially just above 500 Kph where it's close to the 470 full stick authority.  If speed bleeds fairly quick and you have your stick fully back as you get under 470 it moves back rapidly to match your stick, ease off or your going to sleep.

Nose up stalls I can still keep the nose up coordinated in a stall all day at 54 Mph, but your not going to direct it fully vertical and shoot, more of a classic stall.  Still very good nose authority using rudder, but you have to fly it.  109's will stall and can break out of their turns at medium high speeds, the elevator authority is now there to reach these points.  In my eyes this is a huge improvement for it as a fighter.  The training wheels have been cast away, and it's much more versatile, with a quite noticeable expanded flight envelope.

No reason to dread, this is a huge improvement.  Oh, the roll rate, love it man.

Think nimble fighter.

Wow! I'm looking forward to trying the FC bombs (I'm hoping they fixed the fusing for low altitude use of contact fuses)!

Okay. Update: Based on initial testing I haven't found this to be the case. One still needs to use a big time delay on those 7kg/20lb bombs if one wants them to actually detonate. I'm now wondering what the line in the change log was about?

Headroom in the 88 is really claustrophobic in VR, seems worse than a 109 for being cramped in a motion limiting box, especially with all that room in there.  They should expand the box side to side and shift the whole thing off to right.  I don't mind the cut off to the left so much but really bad trying too look right with that huge pit.

Looks like Gunther the gunner was involved in the Philadelphia experiment, slightly disturbing with his feet.

Feather features and three axis' of trim, what's not to like.  Very stable gun platform trimmed out, but you have to manage the approaches.  Sufficient firepower to deal with ordinary IL-2 issues.  I wouldn't try fighting it one, except for fun.
