5 scripted campaigns from Diman_Ivan_san translated to English.

Diman_Ivan_san has given me permission to upload five of his scripted single player campaigns translated to English. These are older campaigns originally created in Russian.

They are all updated to version 4.701c and are cpu/gpu friendly and really immersive and fun!

Please let me know if you have any issues as some of the translation is rather loose but I found it's plenty readable enough to complete.

There are a few collector planes needed for these and you must have BoM and BoS to play (see readme in zip).

Have downloaded and extracted too campaigns but its not showing in the scripted campaigns screen ? I have all the aircraft types needed, so what could i be doing wrong ?

Hmm...  

Did you install only two campaigns? All 5 have a colored map for the campaign title screen. 

 

Do you have the steam version? If so, I'm unsure as to the file path.

Non-steam is;

C/(or whatever drive you have it on) 1C Game Studios/IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles/data/campaigns/"the 5 separate campaigns"

 

Battle of Moscow is required.

No I do not have the steam version, I have opened up the download and high lighted the 5 separate campaigns and then installed into the campaign folder where I can see all the other campaigns I have installed, and your East/West fronts there in the list, but when opening the game it does not show in list of scripted campaigns ?

I have tried just going as far as just the main folder " IL-2 Sturmovik great battles "  but it still is not showing. and as you can see in my post that I do have Battle of Moscow

I'm a bit baffled. I deleted my five campaigns and reinstalled from my original zip and they worked just fine. ?

How about deleting the three cache files in your data folder.

ctreecache, mtreecache, and ttreecache or something close to that spelling.

Hope this works.

Hi Bill, did what you suggested and deleted the three files, downloaded your campaign, and followed this path, Pro files[x86], IC game studios,IL-2 BoS, data, campaigns.

 

And again I can see it in the list of my scripted campaigns but alas its still not showing on the Scripted Campaign screen along with all the others ??

I'm sorry I'm out of ideas. Maybe someone will chime in on this issue. Has anyone else successfully installed them? Calling all scripted campaign players hungry for some new stuff!

I can only say that it works for me just fine. Steam version of Il-2. @taffy2jeffmorgan, are you absolutely sure that you don't have two installations of Il-2? There's been a few cases here in the forums where people had two versions installed and they were putting campaigns/missions into the "wrong" one...

As far as I am aware I only have the one IL-2 installation on my computer, installing campaigns and missions has never been a problem in the past, but thanks for your advise .

Ok, too bad I don't have other suggestions. Here's how I see the folders on Windows side (the 5th one is not seen in this screen capture though):

Does that mean that you have installed the missions within the campaign separately, because it shows in my campaign list as [ East-West- fronts campaign] I right click on the game Zip folder and select all and then place into the scripted campaign folder !!

Taffy, there are 5 campaigns within that main East_West_Fronts_Campaign folder - you need to treat each as a separate installation, not that main folder.  Based upon your answers, I have a hunch you are trying to work with just that main folder, and that is your problem.

 

Unzip that download to your desktop, then navigate inside of the East_West_Fronts_Campaigns ver.4.701 folder and you will see 5 separate campaign folders. Copy and paste each one of these into your il2 campaign folder as instructed.

If all else fails try putting them into your missions folder because the file structure in missions recognizes folders within folders.

Yes, you need 5 separate folders inside your campaigns directory!

  Kind of my fault. I wasn't very clear on how to install. The zip contains five separate campaigns in one folder. I never install directly to the game, always to a separate place to go through the files before I move them over. So yes, open the "East-West campaigns" folder and copy/move all five folders inside it to your campaigns folder in the game..

 The campaigns are actually updated to version 4.702c. 

I have also translated an old campaign called "Kursant". 54 missions about the career of an I-16 pilot if anyone is interested. I should probably get the authors permission first.

The Kursant (Cadet) campaign is ready but I'm still waiting for permission. I've flown the first four missions. They are training missions and fairly easy. I doubt it I'll finish the campaign before I upload it. There is an issue with missions #5 and  #10 missing from the campaign. We'll see how it goes.

Okay, I've translated another Russian language campaign called Volga(Stalingrad Sky). And again I'm going to notify the author 159BAG_VadiS to see if it's okay to upload for us English speaking folk to enjoy. This one is a complete 13 missions.

Having a problem with mission 2 [ Vysokovsk station ] in the Eastern Front, Klin map, missions orders are for myself and my wingman to escort 3 Me 1110's to the target,

My wingman either taxis almost blocking me off or just sits there with engine running and refuses to take off, and when I take off the 110's just fly around in circles ?

I have flown alone to the target but no train has been activated ?  is there something that I am missing at the airfield prior to take off !!

I have not flown that mission yet but there are some issues with this these campaigns as the Creator will not be updating them. The AI are finicky and will not do as they are asked sometimes. It could be faulty mission logic. The mission can be bypassed by deleting the second missions .mis and .msbin in files in the campaigns folder. I will check tonight.

Yeah, that mission is pretty messed up. I haven't flown a lot of these missions so there are bound to be problems that I don't know about within the missions themselves. I have very little knowledge of mission building so I can't fix it.

I'll see if I can't remove it from the campaign and reupload it.

Anyone played the First Viazma. It said in game that it was a success, but when I click to finish the mission. It said i failed and It was back at one.

  There seems to be quite a few issues with the Eastern_Western_front campaigns.

I don't know that the Creator would be willing to fix any problems but you could just put the campaigns into your missions folder. That way if a mission doesn't work you can still move on to the next one.

  I have very little knowledge of the mission editor so maybe if some bad missions are pointed out someone with experience could fix them for us.

Sometimes there is a delay between the in game mission success message and the actual green finish mission button when you hit escape. Try waiting 30 seconds or a minute before hitting escape to finish the mission?

  After some additional tweaking and experimentation I've uploaded an updated version of the Eastern_front,klin scripted campaign.

  Be sure to delete your previous Eastern_front,klin folder before installing the new one.

 Also, it's probably a good idea to delete the three cache files in the data folder;

 

ctreecache.eng

mtreecache.eng

ttreecache.eng

The game will recreate them on startup.

 

- it is important to fly the missions exactly as the flight route dictates. For example, the mission creator made no visible waypoints that I can tell so if the flight route says to fly to Tarasovo first, be sure to fly directly over that town first. This is important for mission triggers etc.

- sometimes it's not clear when objectives have been finished so stick around the area if you can and you will be notified what to do.

Thank you for translating these 5 interesting campaigns.  I've just started the Soviet Air Force Viazma campaign, and successfully completed Mission 1, but have got stuck  with Mission 2.  The mission aim is to 'search and destroy' a group of 5 German trucks carrying out sabotage, and destroy at least 3 of them to achieve the mission successfully.  I've now flown the mission 4 times with no sight of any enemy vehicles to destroy - and therefore cannot move on (without simply deleting that mission, which would be a shame).

Any thoughts on this?

Mike,

 Since there are no navigation markers, the action is triggered by flying directly over the towns along the route. In other words, after taking off fly directly over Znamenka, then Lugi and then head west towards the front line (which I believe is the LF). On screen messages will confirm this when you trigger them. Just remember to fly DIRECTLY over every town on the routes and you should be okay.
