Adding Render/Resolution Scaling option in the Settings

Since IL2 devs are planning on graphics update in the future, Any chance to add this option for IL2?

This type of graphic technology makes native resolutions become clearer and crisp. Render scaling are indeed beneficial for gamers that are limited to lower resolutions like 1080p because it can upscale the native resolution close to 1440p or 4k depending on the scaling modifier that you set it on, however this is not as clear as the native 1440/4k but at least you can experience a much clearer image than the native 1080p.

Render scaling option are very popular among competitive FPS games these days .This will help 1080p users to make it easy to spot small targets in the game, and I think it helps with Anti-aliasing as well. It helped me a lot in games like Squad and PUBG because the image is a lot clearer than the native 1080 resolution.

Video of Render Scale comparison below:

Edit: In here you can see how beneficial Render upscaling is. So 100% is your actual native resolution, if you look at the those two big windows on the blue roof just in the middle of the video, you could see a huge difference of pixel clarity from (you native resolution) 100% to 200%. So imagine this in IL2 where targets are more smaller in the distance than those window cages. It will be much easier for us to see in the distance if this technology is added.

@Garensterz17, Need you can do this from the Nvidia Control Panel, if Nvidia has you...

Just checked nvidia render scaling, so it's only limited for global use? That seems inconvenient since I only wanted render scale on certain games, and not the whole desktop.

nope, you select several or a native resolution you want in the control panel, which will not change anything right away, you will remain in your base resolution, and then in game, you can put the resolution you want in the graphics settings.

Ok I've tried this, but the render scaling on nvidia looked like it's limited only to down scaling. Nvidia is only limited to 100% render scale which is only the default scale of your current native resolution. I'm looking for options to override the resolution scale to 150% to 200% to make the my native (1080p) resolution becomes more clear and simulate 1440p to 4k gaming.

Nvidia DSR can do this. But you might be disappointed by the performance cost vs the perceived benefit. Rather than run a 1080p monitor with more pixels, it’s better to just get an actual 1440p or 4K display.

Or IL2 devs just allow render scaling in their games, my 3070 or any new gen cards can handle the render scale performance. I dont want to invest in a new monitor yet since my 1080p 144hz monitor is only a less than a year old. And also render scale option are common these days, IL2 should have one too.

I've been reading a lot of forum posts about DSR vs Render/Resolution Scaling. It seems render scaling are more efficient at performing clearer images to performance consumption ratio than in DSR performance. Some say DSR makes images blurry when MSAA or SSAA is enabled?

Kind of feels like DSR is an outdated tech these days

Mmmh, personally I use it and it works well (I went from 1080p to 2K). the resource "consumption" is correct (on an I7 9750h card) and the image is very good, no more blurring, and the use of antialliasing becomes obsolete with this mode...
